[Bug 138299] Re: "upgrade pre-requists failed" : upgrade from feisty to gutsy
I have found a workaround. But I need to explain some things : I'm french, and as there are some annoying things with the UTF-8 locales, I changed it to [EMAIL PROTECTED] ISO-8859-15. Then, I had set the language (in gnome's loggin screen) to "Français euro" (means "French euro"). That's why apt failed to fetch http://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/ubuntu/dists/feisty-backports/main /debian-installer/i18n/Translation-fr.bz2. So I changed the language to "Français" (instead of "Français euro"), and miracle (!) everything wanted very well (apt then created deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-backports main/debian-installer instead of the adress above). I hope this helps resolve the bug. [Bug 138299] Re: "upgrade pre-requists failed" : upgrade from feisty to gutsy
You welcome, it's always a pleasure, when I have some time. Vincent PS : By the way... is there a simple way to change the default locales in Ubuntu (instead of UTF-8) ? It would be nice that it could be possible as because of that, in some languages (like french, spanish, etc.), you even cannot copy some files on USB sticks or external HDD (and other things). This is not a problem for me as I know how to change it, but it is a problem for newbies (you have to edit text files and then run a command through the terminal) and they just don't understand why they can't copy some files and just think that "Linux does not work". -- "upgrade pre-requists failed" : upgrade from feisty to gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/138299 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 159995] (Gutsy_Feisty) Microphone does not work correctly on acer aspire 5102wlmi
Public bug reported: Hi everybody, On an acer aspire 5102wlmi, the sound works well, but the microphone does not. Sometimes, it can work at least for a few minutes, but dies after some more. [Bug 155495] Re: touchpad does not work after upgrade from feisty to gutsy
Hi dbensimon, It is not exactly what I said. I don't know if it was turned off by default (it's an Acer Aspire 5102wlmi, not an 5002). What I know is that I had "played" with those buttons on the laptop (I've got no laptop, it's not mine), without knowing what is was for, and I think I have disabled it myself. So, my explanation is that as I am not used to laptops and as I didn't really know what I was doing with those buttons, I though it was a bug whereas it was not. -- touchpad does not work after upgrade from feisty to gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 205054] Re: [Hardy Beta] Intel 845 card - correct drivers not detected
Same bug for me. I have reported that to upstream and I've been told that it comes from my screen display (if I have understood everything) which does not provide EDID data which is needed for the driver to set the screen resolution correctly. But the thing I don't understand is that everything work perfectly out of the box with Mandriva whereas it uses the same driver ("intel") by default on the same driver. [Bug 112114] Klavaro (Feisty): wrong finger associations for azerty-fr kayboard layout.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: klavaro It seems that there is a wrong finger association for azerty-fr keyboard layout. Many keys in the same line as &é"'(-è_çà)=* are not associated with the correct finger (see the picture attached) when you decide to show fingers. For instance, the brakets (same key as 3) should be associated with the 4th finger whereas it is with the 3rd. I have attached a picture so that you can compare to the correct associations. [Bug 112114] Re: Klavaro (Feisty): wrong finger associations for azerty-fr keyboard layout.
As I said, I have contacted the upstream developper, and this is actually not a bug. Here is his answer (with the file attached) : Hi Vincent, I know this problem. It's a matter of preference, which method to use. I have chosen the one I thought would be the commonest. I learned it and use it. And there are ergonomic keyboards, which only allows the current fingers disposition teached by Klavaro. See the next link: http://www.fentek-ind.com/lkbergo9520psb.jpg But also there is the method shown by you. See the next link, which is adequate for it: http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_images/microsoft_ergonomic_keyboard_4000_black_usb_large.jpg So, the bug is not "The fingers disposition is wrong." but "There is no option for easily applying other fingers dispositions". I say no easily option because there is a trick: substitute the attached file I'm sending here (fingers_position.txt) in your "/usr/share/klavaro/" subdir. Maybe it could be included as an alternative option for the user to pick. But I guess it wouldn't be easy to explain the differences between them, I mean, advantages and disadvantages... As I saw this "DEVPATH=/sys/block/sdc/sdc1, DEVNAME=/dev/sdc1, IFINDEX=0", I though that I had to write this in a terminal to mount it : sudo mount -t vfat -o rw,users /dev/sdc1 /home/vince/Desktop/az/ Then I had some error messages (french) : mount: type erroné de système de fichiers, option erronée, super bloc erroné sur /dev/sdc1, codepage manquante ou autre erreur (tentez-vous de monter une partition étendue, au lieu d'une partition logique à l'intérieur?) [Bug 86385] qtparted and kubuntu (desktop CD) partitionner don't recognaze all my hard drives.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: qtparted Hi everybody, This bug has been present since dapper at least. When I use the live CD to install Kubuntu (there is not this behavior with Ubuntu nor gparted !), only two (I've got three) of my hard drives are detected by the partitionner. After the step of the partionner, all my hds are detected (when you have to name your partitions... /media/xxx, etc.). I've got two hds which are connected on a Promise Ultra133 TX2 controller and the first one, which is directly connected to the motherboard (master), is the one which is not detected. All are IDE hds. The problem is that it is on that one I want to install my system. So I can do it only if I have no partitions to create, as all my hard drives and partitions are detected at the step of naming them. I hope my explanation are clear.
