I've seen the same problem on a friend's 5102wlmi laptop, and it can be
solved like this :

1- Right click on the volume control icon

2- Mute the sound

3- Unmute the sound

Then, you have sound on both headphones. Note that you will have to do
it everytime you restart your laptop.

IMPORTANT : There is not this problem on Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy.

It is not exactly what I said. I don't know if it was turned off by default 
(it's an Acer Aspire 5102wlmi, not an 5002).
What I know is that I had "played" with those buttons on the laptop (I've got 
no laptop, it's not mine), without knowing what is was for, and I think I have 
disabled it myself. 

So, my explanation is that as I am not used to laptops and as I didn't
really know what I was doing with those buttons, I though it was a bug
whereas it was not.

Same bug for me. I have reported that to upstream and I've been told that it 
comes from my screen display (if I have understood everything) which does not 
provide EDID data which is needed for the driver to set the screen resolution 
correctly.
But the thing I don't understand is that everything work perfectly out of the 
box with Mandriva whereas it uses the same driver ("intel") by default on the 
same driver.

That's why my question is : which screen display do you use on computer
?

layout.

Many keys in the same line as &é"'(-è_çà)=* are not associated with the correct 
finger (see the picture attached) when you decide to show fingers.
For instance, the brakets (same key as 3) should be associated with the 4th 
finger whereas it is with the 3rd.

I have attached a picture so that you can compare to the correct
associations.

I have tested the upstream version, there is the same problem, so I sent
the same bug report to klavaro's developper.

As I said, I have contacted the upstream developper, and this is
actually not a bug. Here is his answer (with the file attached) :

which method to use. I have chosen the one I thought

Maybe it could be included as an alternative option
for the user to pick. But I guess it wouldn't be easy
to explain the differences between them, I mean,
advantages and disadvantages...

In my case, it is not ugly, but not exactly the same as in the .odt
file. For example, in one lf my files (in french) :

In fact, everything is the same (for me... but I haven't created a lot of 
files) but some titles, where there are spaces that appear.

As I wrote just before, I had this in a terminal :

sectors"

I tried to format my usb key and create a new fat16 file system to see
if it would change something and miracle (!), everythings working fine
now.

However, there is although something strange. It is that my usb key was
working on edgy and dapper when I first reported this bug (=> without
any formatting). So maybe feisty is more "sensitive" or something.

However, thank you all for your great work.

in a window), it seems to freeze a few seconds. The context menu doesn't
appear (only after those few seconds).

2_ Choose something to burn.
3_ Start burning
4_ K3b asks if you want to erase the disc.
5_ Click OK
6_ When erase finished, K3B reloads the medium and then, the system freezes for 
several seconds.

It freezes too at the begin of the burning process (but for less time).

I have just click on the "Close" button (see screenshot). I think it is
doing dpkg --configure -a, as my cpu is working a lot, but there is no
message. I think there should have something that shows what is going
on.

I can mount it manually, but I have noticed something that might help
(I'm not sure, as I'm not a developper, I don't understand all those
messages but maybe...).

I was curiose to see what was in that hal.log file, so I searched the

So, even if I don't understand many things in those messages, I know that my 
key is usually detected as (on dapper and edgy) "storage_serial_04_01_09_U".
As I saw this "DEVPATH=/sys/block/sdc/sdc1, DEVNAME=/dev/sdc1, IFINDEX=0", I 
though that I had to write this in a terminal to mount it :

sudo mount -t vfat -o rw,users /dev/sdc1 /home/vince/Desktop/az/

Then I had some error messages (french) :

mount: type erroné de système de fichiers, option erronée, super bloc erroné 
sur /dev/sdc1,
   codepage manquante ou autre erreur
   (tentez-vous de monter une partition étendue,
   au lieu d'une partition logique à l'intérieur?)
   Dans quelques cas certaines informations sont utiles dans syslog - 
essayez
   dmesg | tail  ou quelque chose du genre


So I did dmesg | tail in a terminal and it answered :

~$ dmesg | tail

Finally, I though (and was right) that the correct command was :


sudo mount -t vfat -o rw,users /dev/sdc5 /home/vince/Desktop/az/


So maybe hal detects the wrong device (/dev/sdc1) instead of the correct one 
(/dev/sdc5)

Hope that helps. I don't know if my way of thinking was logical.

Hi all,

Since the kernel 2.6.20.13 and still in 2.6.20.14 version, when I boot my PC, 
there is a step which is very slow (it wasn't before).
As there is no message with the new usplash, I started in recovery mode 
(single) to see which step it was.
So it seems to be at the moment it is written "configuring network interfaces". 
After that, the system seems to work normaly.

I have two ethernet cards : one integrated (gigabyte GA-7VT600 1394) & a
realtek RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ pci card.

I have tried a test. I disconnected my ethernet cable and then the boot
process was even slower.

As the release time is soon, I will stay tuned. So if you need more
details, just tell me.

I currently use a desktop computer. I have tested this problem on a laptop with 
the desktop CD (with the same usb key) and it still does not work.
It works on dapper, edgy and every other systems.

When I plug in my usb key, it not mounted automaticaly. The little LED
on the usb key winks (or blinks, I don't know how I have to says), but
nothing else.

What is strange is that everything seems to works fine for my usb
external hard drive, every partitions are mounted. So it seems to happen
only for usb key for me.

[Bug 86385] qtparted and kubuntu (desktop CD) partitionner don't recognaze all my hard drives.

Hi everybody,

This bug has been present since dapper at least.

When I use the live CD to install Kubuntu (there is not this behavior
with Ubuntu nor gparted !), only two (I've got three) of my hard drives
are detected by the partitionner. After the step of the partionner, all
my hds are detected (when you have to name your partitions...
/media/xxx, etc.).

I've got two hds which are connected on a Promise Ultra133 TX2 controller and 
the first one, which is directly connected to the motherboard (master), is the 
one which is not detected.
All are IDE hds.

The problem is that it is on that one I want to install my system. So I
can do it only if I have no partitions to create, as all my hard drives
and partitions are detected at the step of naming them.

I hope my explanation are clear.
If something else is needed, just tell me.

NB : I can see the same behavior once the system is installed (Kubuntu &
qtparted).
