[Bug 307947] [NEW] video-out module uses wrong conf variables

2008-12-14 Thread Tuomas Lukinmaa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: laptop-mode-tools

/usr/share/laptop-mode-tools/modules/video-out contains references to
$LM_AC_THROTTLE_ETHERNET, $NOLM_AC_THROTTLE_ETHERNET and
$BATT_THROTTLE_ETHERNET. They should be the config variables mentioned
in /etc/laptop-mode/conf.d/video-out.conf.

Using Ubuntu 8.10.

[Bug 398217] [NEW] power history doesn't take hd sleep into account

2009-07-11 Thread Tuomas Lukinmaa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Power history logging into ~/.gnome2/gnome-power-manager/ doesn't take
hd sleep into account and keeps spinning up hd even when rest of the
system is optimized (read: configured) for long hd sleeps. Furthermore,
there is no control to allow disabling power history logging or reducing
the time interval of the logging writes.

[Bug 399071] Re: pam_motd: assume update-motd responsibilities

2009-07-28 Thread Tuomas Lukinmaa
Also take note that in jaunty, update-motd is disabled by laptop-mode
when going into battery mode (it stops anacron and cron). This behaviour
should be supported if possible to avoid unnecessary hdd spinups on
logins (because of resources required to run update-motd).

[Bug 294190] Re: spews logs with "supplicant connection state change"

2010-05-01 Thread Tuomas Lukinmaa
Lucid is still missing the -qq parameter from service command line to
suppress unnecessary debug messages. NetworkManager UI is already
provided to catch and notify the warnings and state changes logged by
wpasupplicant.

[Bug 352118] Re: WPA writes possibly unnecessary messages to the system log

Shouldn't the service exec line include -qq as well to suppress debug
logging?

[Bug 490270] [NEW] Uncooperative with laptop-mode-tools

2009-11-30 Thread Tuomas Lukinmaa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: command-not-found

command-not-found should notice that laptop-mode-tools may have been
configured to spindown hd's and accessing python interpreter and apt
databases will cause unnecessary hd spinups (and spinup delays). Quick
solution would be an use of less resource intensive shell wrapper to
check the status of l-m-t/hd's before doing any real work.

[Bug 584165] [NEW] ubuntu-desktop libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio dependancy blocking change to other sdl packages

2010-05-22 Thread Tuomas Lukinmaa
Public bug reported:

There is a dependancy to the libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio package which
leads to removal of ubuntu-desktop if user wants to change to
alsa/arts/esd/nas/oss/all package. If the dependency is used for
upgrades, some other solution should be provided as changing the output
package (even for a valid change from pulseaudio to all) and removal of
ubuntu-desktop does breaks upgrades.

[Bug 1011207] [NEW] Xsession ERRFILE and HDD power saving

2012-06-10 Thread Tuomas Lukinmaa
Public bug reported:

/etc/X11/Xsession places ERRFILE into users home directory which
conflicts with possible HDD power saving settings by causing occasional
writes done by logging misbehaving apps/drivers. The Xsession has
provisions for placing it into /tmp but that path is only taken if users
home directory is unwritable. This slight oversight is easily fixed by
relocating the default ERRFILE into /tmp.
