Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Power history logging into ~/.gnome2/gnome-power-manager/ doesn't take
hd sleep into account and keeps spinning up hd even when rest of the
system is optimized (read: configured) for long hd sleeps. Furthermore,
there is no control to allow disabling power history logging or reducing
the time interval of the logging writes.
