[Bug 882710] Re: Monitor(s) black out and session freezes. "NVRM: GPU at 0000:01:00.0 has fallen off the bus."
I have this problem. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 64bit and NVIDIA Driver Version: 295.40 I open Minecraft and am able to apply for around 5 minutes and then everything goes black. The problem doesn't seem to affect me at any other time, only when playing Minecraft. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882710 Title: Monitor(s) black out and session freezes. If that is these instructions: "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install nvidia-current" (found at http://mygeekopinions.blogspot.co.uk/2011/06/how-to-install- nvidia-2750907-driver-in.html) Then I tried that but no luck. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882710 Title: [NVIDIA] Monitor(s) black out and session freezes. [Bug 882710] Re: [NVIDIA] Monitor(s) black out and session freezes. "NVRM: GPU at 0000:01:00.0 has fallen off the bus."
Hi, I think the problem may be due to overheating. I've added an additional fan pointing directly at the graphics card and made sure my computer has space to vent heat, and I've not had any problems since. I did this around 7 hours ago and the computer has been running since, letting me play games and stream video at the same time on multiple monitors. Before doing this I was experiencing the crashing on both Linux and Windows 8 running on this pc. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882710 Title: [NVIDIA] Monitor(s) black out and session freezes. [Bug 325373] Re: GNOME Do lacks a plugin for Empathy

[Bug 428318] Re: unable to mount an ext2 partition by label or uuid, unbootable system
Please consider fixing this in 9.10. I upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 in preparation for the release of 10.04. I had no problem booting for several months. Then, all of a sudden, after updating and rebooting, I couldn't boot. Based on the error message, I created the symbolic link for my Ubuntu 9.10 partition in /dev/disk/by-uuid, rebooted and was able to use the system for another period of time. This time, I couldn't create the symbolic link and then boot (not sure why it worked the first time and after). I believe this partition was created (with gparted) as FAT32 and then changed to ext3 via gparted. The tools in the util-linux-ng package seem inconsistent. When I boot with a Ubuntu LiveCD (9.10 32-bit Desktop), I get the following: ubu...@ubuntu:~$ sudo fsck -t ext3 /dev/sda8 fsck from util-linux-ng 2.16 e2fsck 1.41.9 (22-Aug-2009) /dev/sda8: clean, 314232/3141600 files, 6959167/12611017 blocks (check after next mount) ubu...@ubuntu:~$ sudo blkid -p /dev/sda8 /dev/sda8: ambivalent result (probably more filesystems on the device) ubu...@ubuntu:~$ sudo sfdisk -l /dev/sda8 50173+ 56452 6280- 50444068+ 83 Linux If people think it's sufficient to let users just fix this themselves, then they are relegating Ubuntu Linux to the role of an O/S for developers and maybe server farm operators, but not as a desktop for home users or small businesses. To be usable by non-technical people, the partitioning tools need to convert partitions/create partitions that are acceptable to the other tools in the distribution. Replacement tools need to work with the limitations of the rest of the distribution (or there needs to be a reasonable non-technical way to fix the problem). -- unable to mount an ext2 partition by label or uuid, unbootable system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/428318 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2073267] Re: Guru meditation on VM start
I have the same setup as Andy (comment #22). Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS VirtualBox is version installed from Ubuntu repo: virtualbox/jammy-updates,now 6.1.50-dfsg-1~ubuntu1.22.04.1 amd64 [installed] Problem with no longer being able to start any guest OS in VirtualBox first appeared after system update to kernel package: linux-image-5.15.0-116-generic/jammy-updates,jammy-security,now 5.15.0-116.126 amd64 [installed, automatic] Choosing to boot using previous kernel package allows VirtualBox to start guest OSs again without issue. [Bug 1926937] Re: [SRU] Virtualbox new release 6.1.26
Hi Eduardo, as pointed out earlier by Simon, the virtualbox-guest- additions-iso and virtualbox-ext-pack packages are separate and are not installed automatically. Did you have these packages installed before? From the terminal, use "sudo apt list virtualbox*" to check their status on your system. For my Focal system, after upgrading virtualbox to 6.1.26 from the repo, I checked from the VirtualBox GUI via Tools -> Preferences -> Extensions and found that the "VNC" extension was now on version 6.1.26 but that the "Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack" was still on version 6.1.22. Rather than downloading the latest extension pack from the oracle website and updating it in the GUI directly as I did before, this time I (first closed the GUI) installed the package for it via terminal "sudo apt install virtualbox-ext-pack" and when I went back into the GUI to check it was updated there. Same with installing the virtualbox-guest-additions-iso package, I did not need to download the latest guest additions inside of the Guest OS, which I was prompted to do when the latest ISO could not be found before. So long as these related packages are updated in line with the main virtualbox packages in future, then I think it will be automatic next time, but you do need to make sure they are installed on your system first. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1926937 Title: [SRU] Virtualbox new release 6.1.26 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox/+bug/1926937/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
