[Bug 1754680] [NEW] Grub2 boot menu screen flashing and dots

2018-03-09 Thread Stefan Czinczoll
Public bug reported:

Dear Sirs,

actually I'm using Ubuntu Mate 17.10 on a 64 bit machine.

This is the output from "uname -a":

Linux 4.13.0-36-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP Fri Feb 16 20:07:48
UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I found strange behaviour after last grub2 updates, done automatically
by using:

"sudo apt-get update"

"sudo apt-get dist-upgrade"

Flashing bootmenu screen with black dots is really annoying (see
screenshots).

I also fear side effects.

BIOS version is latest update.

Grub2 is

Package: grub2
Version: 2.02~beta3-4ubuntu7.2

What can I do?

Kind regards

Stefan

The bug was not good reproducable, since only on my production system,
which I had updated to 11.10 then. I'm now using 13.10 and cannot see
the bug any more in terms of boot up time. I'll let you know if it comes
up again.

Kind regards and thank you for your help,

[Bug 1407197] [NEW] Rearranging window parts impossible

2015-01-02 Thread Stefan Czinczoll
Public bug reported:

Hi there,

currently with evolution on Ubuntu 14.04 (recent updates) I'm unable to
resize the window components. I'm trying to broaden the size of the
listview window at the right or moving the vertical bar up, which
delimits the list of emails top from preview window above. However, the
window display begins to flicker and the position snaps back into the
old one. What is more, the starting size of the evolution main window is
not memorized. It's very small now and every time I start evolution I
have to resize to get a proper view.

Kind regards,

Stefan

[Bug 1407197] Re: Rearranging window parts impossible

2015-01-04 Thread Stefan Czinczoll
The bug is not easy to reproduce and won't show up with a fresh install.
So it may be related to my config. But I wouldn't like to loose my
email, so I'm not eager to delete .cache/evolution folder.

Any ideas please?

I guess this bug is a duplicate of #1048059. In the comments there I
found a simple workaround:

Open a terminal window and use the following two commands (comments may
be left out):

# Add a folder
sudo mkdir /media/USERNAME

# assign the folder to my user
sudo chown USERNAME.USERNAME /media/USERNAME

[Bug 1072442] [NEW] Adressbook entries not visible after selection "To:" email field

2012-10-28 Thread Stefan Czinczoll
Public bug reported:

Hi there,

I've been using evolution with address book quite long. When inserting
adresses manually into the recipient field, entries are correctly
recommended by evolution after typing the first letters. But it's not
possible to select one or several adresses after clicking on the "To:"
field when composing a new mail. The main contact list, every category
chosen is simply empty, none of my addressbook entries is shown. So I'm
unable to add or remove contacts to or from the "To:", "CC:" or "BCC:"
lists.

I wonder wether this behaviour is due to evolution or evolution-data-
server and would appreciate any help.

Kind regards,

Stefan

[Bug 1104435] Re: xfce4-session crashed with SIGSEGV in g_slice_alloc()

Hi all,

problem is most likely caused by lightdm. I constantly experience
crashes when starting xfce/Xubuntu using lightdm selector.

There are no crashes after stopping lightdm on console and starting Xfce
manually by "startxfce4"! (may also be used as workaround).

[Bug 1072442] Re: Adressbook entries not visible after selection "To:" email field

2012-11-02 Thread Stefan Czinczoll
I just tried to test with a fresh installation of evolution inside a new
virtual machine (for raring ringtail testing purpose). Evolution has
still the same version:

$ apt-cache policy evolution
evolution:
  Installiert: 3.6.0-0ubuntu3
  Kandidat:3.6.0-0ubuntu3
  Versionstabelle:
 *** 3.6.0-0ubuntu3 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I entered one addressbook entry and voila: Selecting the address after
clicking the Receiver field is not possible. The list is empty as in my
production environment!

[Bug 1080251] [NEW] Firefox print failure for certain webpages

2012-11-17 Thread Stefan Czinczoll
Public bug reported:

Hi there,

firefox 16.0.2 fails to print with my 12.10 Ubuntu and 12.10 Xubuntu for
some webpages. I've added an example page as attachment. The same page
prints fine with epiphany, so I can sort out any CUPS related problem.
Printer is a Kyocera FS920 on local usb. Most pages print okay and I
suspect Javascript issues. When trying the example page, a notification
pops up that the page has finished printing, but none.

The problem can be reproduced with a fresh Ubuntu 12.10. Using Firefox
and trying to print the critical webpage a second time, printing status
says "Sending data to printer". However, the job in the CUPS jobs list
is gone. Online LED on the printer blinks and nothing is printed. The
problem does not occur with the same page and Firefox 16.0.2 on Windows.
I will try other Linux distro later, probably this is upstream.

Kind regards,

Stefan

[Bug 940061] [NEW] Xubuntu 11.10 shutdown/restart leaves fs unclean

2012-02-23 Thread Stefan Czinczoll
Public bug reported:

Hi there,

on my Xubuntu 11.10 system there's an annoying bug: No matter wether I
choose restart or shutdown the filesystem is not unmounted cleanly, i.e.
fsck has to work every time the machine is started. This behaviour shows
up with any of my users. The "entry point" for shutdown/reboot is
neither important: user desktop or login screen. I've tried gdm and

[Bug 940061] Re: Xubuntu 11.10 shutdown/restart leaves fs unclean

2012-02-24 Thread Stefan Czinczoll
It's easy to reproduce the bug: The fs is unclean on every new booting
regardless of the shutdown or reboot method. It can also be reproduced
from an X terminal by:

$ sudo reboot

On startup the fs is cleaned up automatically but the situation remains
and the error occurs on the next start. Filesystem is ReiserFS3.

The bug seems is gone now - but I don't know the reason. It's probably
due to recent lightdm or Xorg update.

Apport does not come up automatically, I manually started it. F-spot used to
work fine with version 12.10.
Any ideas please?

Kind regards,

Stefan
