[Bug 69797] Re: The 'script/console' command does not work

2008-06-03 Thread Simon Wong
This is a problem for my Rails Web Server.

The irb package should create a symlink in the same way that the ruby
package creates a symlink for "ruby".

/usr/bin/irb -> /usr/bin/irb1.8

I am going to head over to the irb package now...

I am not sure why this is marked as fixed when the Hardy (8.04) irb
package does NOT create that symlink.

Somewhere in my installation "irb1.8" was pulled in as a dependency but
not "irb".

Thanks.

[Bug 216990] Re: error in auth.log when switch user -- pam_smbpass.so

2008-05-01 Thread Simon Wong
I know very little about debconf so do not understand the technical
issue alluded to above regarding pam and debconf.

However, I do not think it should be in the default configuration that
smb passwords maybe used to login - that is a specific requirement that
should not be enabled by default.

I guess that the debconf problem is that when libpam-smbpass is
installed it cannot update common-auth?

[Bug 86685] HOWTO: workaround for Feisty amd64

2007-06-06 Thread Simon Wong
To summarise the work around:

Install the build dependencies
$ sudo apt-get build-dep python-clearsilver
$ sudo apt-get install python-dev

Download the 0.10.4 version (as it contains fixes for python2.5)
$ wget http://www.clearsilver.net/downloads/clearsilver-0.10.4.tar.gz
$ tar xzvf clearsilver-0.10.4.tar.gz

Edit the configure files as listed by Antonio Censi above

Build the new version
$ cd clearsilver-0.10.4
$ ./configure
$ make
$ sudo make install

Copy the new shared object over the packaged version
$ sudo cp -bi python/neo_cgi.so /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/neo_cgi.so

Enjoy!

[Bug 89457] Restore file from remote backup downloads whole backup

2007-03-03 Thread Simon Wong
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: sbackup

Edgy version 0.10.3

Restoring a single file from a remote SSH backup requires that the whole
backup files.tgz be downloaded to the local machine. This is horrible
especially when my remote backup was 24G in size!

I have lodged an upstream bug for this (1672992):
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1672992&group_id=145360&atid=761640

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: sbackup

Perhaps it would make sense to exclude .pid files from /var/run/*?

They certainly have no meaning as far as being restored and in some I
