[Bug 1249825] [NEW] Cannot type into Unity Dash

2013-11-10 Thread Ryan Baxter
Public bug reported:

I am running Ubuntu 13.10 with onboard version 0.99.0-0ubuntu1.

When attempting to type into the Unity Dash (search bar) the dash closes
whenever a key is pressed.

This seems to be a regression of 915250.

It is not a major issue to me currently as I have found two workarounds that
seem to resolve the issue for now:
1. Undock Onboard and set Force to top.
2. Maximize Unity Dash window.

** Affects: onboard (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Tags: regression-release

[Bug 1249825] Re: Cannot type into Unity Dash

2013-11-13 Thread Ryan Baxter
Bug #960537 seems to regard Onboard not automatically opening when the
Dash is opened.

Although I have noticed that happens more often than not, what I was
talking about is closer to what was described in Bug #915250.

If I don't have the Unity Dash maximized, even if I have manually shown
the keyboard before opening it, upon pressing a key, the Dash closes and
the key is passed to whatever program I had in the foreground, or the
Desktop if nothing is open.

I had this happen after a failed attempt to put my computer into standby
that required a force poweroff.

[Bug 1159054] Re: High CPU usage when using Dim Inactive

2013-03-24 Thread Ryan Baxter
Ok, a workaround seems to be setting the saturation to 100%, it seems
any addon that modifies the saturation causes the CPU to spike.

** Description changed:

- When using the Dim Inactive function in Compiz, it takes about 80% CPU
- usage, causing the fans on my laptop to run constantly whenever this is
- enabled.
+ When using any addon that desaturates windows in Compiz, it takes about
+ 80% CPU usage, causing the fans on my laptop to run constantly whenever
+ this is enabled.

  I will attach screenshots below.

  Steps to Reproduce:
  Enable Dim Inactive in ccsm
Open two windows, monitor cpu usage
Use keyboard shortcut to toggle dimming on and off

  Compiz-Plugins version 1:0.9.8.6-0ubuntu1 from synaptic

** Summary changed:

- High CPU usage when using Dim Inactive
+ High CPU usage when using any addon which desaturates windows
