[Bug 1868442] Re: Missing wireless network interface after kernel 5.3.0-43 upgrade with eoan

2020-03-27 Thread Rustin Schenk
So far I am not getting offered any proposed updates when I run
software-updater. Even though I have the pre-released updates box
checked in software updater. I also verified that I have:

deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ eoan-proposed main restricted
multiverse universe

in my /etc/apt/sources.list. So I haven't been able to test kernel.

[Bug 1868442] Re: Missing wireless network interface after kernel 5.3.0-43 upgrade with eoan

2020-03-27 Thread Rustin Schenk
** Description changed:

I updated to latest kernel: initrd.img-5.3.0-43-generic and find that
bluetooth is enabled and no wireless connection. When I stop bluetooth I go
into airplane mode. I cannot find any wireless connection in network or
wireless connection setup in settings. ifconfig shows there is no wireless
interface setup. When I go back to kernel 5.3.0-42 everything is working
correctly. I am using an HP laptop.

[Bug 1648183] Re: Crackling and popping sound when using headphones

2020-04-27 Thread Rustin Schenk
I also still have a crackling sound in the left channel when I plug in a
pair of headphones using an hp laptop. I had this with 19.04,19.10 and
now still with 20.04. Would be nice if it could be fixed. The solution
by Robert Joynt does fix the problem, but it is a work around. Would be
nice if the real problem could be fixed in the distro.

[Bug 1660619] Re: kernel: [drm:intel_pipe_update_end [i915]] *ERROR* Atomic update failure on pipe B

2017-09-29 Thread Rustin Schenk
I have an HP laptop and have been seeing these errors for many months:

Sep 29 11:33:51 hp-17 kernel: [ 7857.337291] [drm:intel_pipe_update_end [i915]]

They haven't seemed to cause any problems until yesterday when my system
frozen up. Couldn't do anything on the system and had to reboot. The
above errors were the last thing shown in the system log before I
rebooted. The errors were repeating at about 10 times a minute over the
course of an hour before the system locked up. I am also seeing this
error between the Atomic update failures (maybe unrelated or not):

[Bug 1868544] [NEW] Missing wireless network interface after kernel 5.3.0-43 installed

2020-03-23 Thread Rustin Schenk
Public bug reported:

I apologize if this is a repeat of the bug I filed a couple of days ago,
but I don't see on launchpad that it shows I filed a bug, so I am
filling another. Also didn't know what to file the bug under so I chose
network-manager. It appears to be a bug with kernel 5.3.0-43.

I updated to latest kernel: initrd.img-5.3.0-43-generic and find that my
network is in airplane mode. ifconfig shows there is no wireless interface
setup. When I go back to kernel 5.3.0-42 everything is working correctly. I am
using an HP laptop.

[Bug 1868544] Re: Missing wireless network interface after kernel 5.3.0-43 installed

** Description changed:

I apologize if this is a repeat of the bug I filed a couple of days ago,
but I don't see on launchpad that it shows I filed a bug, so I am
filling another. Also didn't know what to file the bug under so I chose
network-manager. It appears to be a bug with kernel 5.3.0-43.

I updated to latest kernel: initrd.img-5.3.0-43-generic and find that my
network is in airplane mode. ifconfig shows there is no wireless interface
setup. When I go back to kernel 5.3.0-42 everything is working correctly. I am
using an HP laptop.
I can see the wireless network controller with lshw:

[Bug 1904470] Re: Monitor fails to wake after lock when dash-to-panel is loaded

2021-10-20 Thread Rustin Schenk
On my HP laptop settings about shows:

Processor: AMD® A10-9620p radeon r5, 10 compute cores 4c+6g × 4

Graphics: AMD® Carrizo

After install 20.10 the monitor DOES wake from suspend if I am using
kernel: vmlinuz-5.11.0-38-generic

Monitor wont wake up using either vmlinuz-5.13.0-19 or vmlinuz-5.13.0-20

I tried disabling all extensions and after rebooting with 5.13.-20 I got
no login screen. So I went back to 5.11.0-38. Problem is happening
with either Xorg or Xwayland. I tried changing greeter from gdm3 to
lightdm and still had problem. I have computer configed to ask for
password when waking from suspend.
