[Bug 39770] Re: integrated sound card does'n work

2006-08-10 Thread Robert Casanova
I'm testing the edgy distribution with alsa-driver-1.0.12rc1 and with
the ALC883 it also fails.

At alsa web-site the changelog for 1.0.12rc2 says that they support the
ALC883 finally with the snd_hda_intel driver.

Guess this is a posible correction.

In a SMP machine the applet let you configure which CPU is going to be

If the applet is unloaded, the changes made on the CPU item, are also lost.

[Bug 56655] No good proxy conf, for synaptic...

2006-08-16 Thread Robert Casanova
Public bug reported:

When the gnome proxy is configured (host, port, user, pass), at
gnome-network-preferences every gnome applet works fine, and the configuration
helper export the information correctly to the console.
But for some reason the configuration doesn't work for synaptic, which has to
be initialized from the console to make it work, don't know if there other
application affected.
Maybe synaptic doesn't use the gnome configuration?

[Bug 56685] Re: upgrade from 1.2.0 to 1.2.2 makes Canon iP4200 unusable

2006-08-20 Thread Robert Casanova
I use a router with a printer server and it happens the same. When I use
the same configuration but throught USB it works fine.

So something happens whit the ipp protocol...

Somewhere mentioned the "partial" solution of giving a password to the
root user, and add the 'cupsys' user to the 'shadow' group and it
doesn't work neither.

Here is my printing file generated.

[Bug 57308] Xorg and ATI X600 - RV370/380 (5B62) doesn't work

2006-08-22 Thread Robert Casanova
Public bug reported:

The dapper 6.06 live cd doesn't work, so the alternative must be used to
install.

After downloading the fglrx driver and upgrading to 6.06.1 the versions are :
Xorg 7.0.x
kernel 2.6.15-26
fglrx 8.25.18

the lspci shows the right card, at :1:0.0 VGA and at :1:0.1
Display controler...

but when the Xorg starts the Xorg.log doesn't show the address in the
list to look for it, but the rest of the devices.

with versions for hoary 5.04 :
Xorg 6.8.2
kernel 2.6.12-10
fglrx 8.16.20

works fine.

So there must be some sort of problem with libpci that doesn't search
the addresses for PCI-E devices and in particular the ATI and model
5B62.

[Bug 57822] Re: Problem printing to IPP printer

2006-08-31 Thread Robert Casanova
When I print something the queue receives the data but the printer doesn't
print at all. I tried with the queue-raw the samsung-ml1610 from Samsung (but
problem with some ppm2spl2 or something) and also the cups included ppd the
ml1510 (this one was the one worked before).
So no output at all, no error pages or garbage.

the router has a ssh server so I can connect to it, it looks like a
linux embedded or something I'll what I can do.

Just on little detail, yesterday I had a document on the cups queue and
it wasn't printing, when I restarted the router and after 3-5 seconds
the printer printed the document and disappeared from the queue.

The logging and the printing info will post it latter.

[Bug 57822] Re: Problem printing to IPP printer

2006-11-04 Thread Robert Casanova
First of all, thanks a lot Pascal, I appreciate the long answer.

Since I reported initially the bug I changed to Edgy, like a month ago
and I kept in sync with the updates until it become the stable Edgy.

I tried the command you said and as you mentioned it disables the Paper
and the Advanced tabs, but the problem is still there. The thing is that
to be able to test it I have to reboot the printer and the router(print
server), what makes me think that the problem locks the router print
server, maybe some problem with the protocol.

The package you mention "cupsys 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.6.06.001-0ivoks1" it was
a workaround I tried from a developer at other IPP bug, but it didn't
worked neither. Now I use the 1.2.4-2ubuntu3 from the Edgy.

Another anomaly is that the log file keeps on repeating this:

I tried the same but instead sending the test page to the printer
created with the "lpadmin ..." command, sending it to the normal ipp

[Bug 71338] iceauth crashed

2006-11-11 Thread Robert Casanova
Public bug reported:

There's a wizard that reports a crash, so I'll attach the file. The thing is
that I was using the beryl over XGl system and after going back to gnome I
couldn't log in. After opening an emergency X console I could open nautilus and
the rest of the gnome an log in again as usual, but the wizard now tells me
that there was a crash.
Don't know if it's a real bug or just a messed configuration.

Well I downgraded my edgy packages to the 1.2.0-0ubuntu5 version adding

fine.

The only problem is that I have like 10 packages broken... not a big
deal. I'll wait until feisty repair it or until I finish my semester.

[Bug 57822] Re: Problem printing to IPP printer

2006-12-01 Thread Robert Casanova
Well, the thing is that with older versions of cups it worked flawlessly
and since I updated the dapper to 6.01 it stopped working.

The router has an USB port and is shared through IPP I haven't seen any
other way to share it... I tried what you said and nothing happened, so
I'm gonna download the source or bin for cups kit and install (force)
the old version. I need the printer shared.

[Bug 61853] Re: libgtk2.0-0-dev needs libtiff4-dev

2006-09-27 Thread Robert Casanova
I didn't have the source in my repository list.

After reloading my package information, I've been able to run the command line:
"apt-cache showsrc gtk+2.0 | grep tiff" and it shows :

Build-Depends: debhelper (>> 4.0.0), gettext, pkg-config, libglib2.0-dev
(>= 2.12.0), libpango1.0-dev (>= 1.12), libatk1.0-dev (>= 1.9),

libjpeg62-dev, libpng12-dev, docbook-utils, linuxdoc-tools-text, gnome-
pkg-tools, libcupsys2-dev

but I don't know if this is the right way to proceed, but I uninstalled
the libtiff4 and synaptic didn't complain about having to uninstall the
dependencies. Neither complained when I reinstalled the gtk+2.0-dev
about having to install the dependencies.

I run from console, "gnome-app-install".
Example:
- Select any application
- Click Apply, the system says what's gnonna be installed.
- Click Ok and the system install it.
- When the installation finish the "gnome-app-install" is still open.
- Click on Ok, and the system asks again that is gonna install the same
application that's already installed. So it can't install again, but it ask you
to do so. (endless loop)
- Click on close(by the X or by the cancell button) the "gnome-app-install"
says that the changes aren't applied, what to do? discard the changes, but they

[Bug 525628] Re: wget is not working as normal user, but working for root

2010-03-02 Thread Robert Casanova
The environment variable that Ubuntu 10.04 creates from the GNOME GUI
for the whole systems has an extra comma at the very end of the no_proxy
list. That gets compared wrongly by the no_proxy_match, sufmatch method,
returning always true and retrieving the URL without proxy.

Temporary solution is to re-export the no_proxy variable.

Looking now at the Network Proxy Preferences.
