There isn't a single application, actually I tried with 3 different computers/installations and applications. Ubuntu knot3 + updates, Ubuntu knot1 + updates and Xubuntu knot3 + updates with the same behavior. On the first machine I installed "Quod Libet" and "Meld diff viewer", on the second "BOINC Manager" and on the third "Celestia".
