[Bug 245315] Re: DocumentViewer keeps on loading PDF-files

2008-07-30 Thread Reptile
Evince 2.22.2, Hardy 8.04

I can also confirm this bug.

Everytime I open a PDF It just says "loading" until I close and reopen.
The second reopen is always successful.

[Bug 303310] [NEW] Upgrade to Ubuntu 0.04 LTS causes system to freeze

2008-11-28 Thread reptile
Public bug reported:

I am trying to upgrade from ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04 through the update
manager. Each time that the download begins the system will freeze. No
error codes or messages just locks up. Hard boot required. I have
tried to install the latest stable edition available for download 8.10
but... it brings me to a command based installer and I would like to at
least begin with the GUI. Any help would be appreciated! If you need
any other info let me know.

[Bug 250540] Re: gedit cannot save to sftp location

2008-10-14 Thread Reptile
I also have this bug.

The problem for me is that the if the owner is different from the logged
in owner Gedit will go into readonly mode. This is a contrast to an
editor like Geany which allows me to save the file just fine. Gedit will
then reopen this file and allow saves because the owner has become the
expected owner. It is like Gedit is doing the work of the server and
taking liberties in opening a file in read only mode. This doesn't work
because it is not taking the group into account.

I have a script to update all my permissions back to the original
owner/group so that other people can make changes to my scripts
remotely. Gedit will then fail to save changes to these scripts once the
owner/group was put back.

This is only a bug that has become apparent with the Ubuntu Intrepid
series, which I presume uses an updated version of Gedit2 than Hardy.

[Bug 119730] Re: Slow SATA performance

2007-10-12 Thread Reptile
This seemed to be resolved in Tribe 3 beta at least (cant remember the
kernel version) but since the last few kernel updates I am back to the
old transfer speeds again so I am going to find the old kernel that
worked and test it. I am very disappointed that this appeared to be
fixed and now it is a problem again.

Using Tribe 3 is getting up to 50mb/s (it took less than 15 seconds to
transfer a 700mb file from one physical disk to another) and now it is
taking 2 minutes to transfer!

I have an AG8 motherboard for Pentium 4 and the chipset is an intel
ICH6-R 915P.

[Bug 359892] Re: pulseaudio fasttrack pro usb not working spdif

2010-05-24 Thread Reptile
I finally managed to get it working by selecting "analog Stereo Output
B" which makes the digital PCM work. This is obviously incorrectly
labelled and should read "Digital out" or something.

Sorry, I should add there are no recordable inputs with playback despite
being a full duplex card.

[Bug 666715] Re: [ATI Radeon HD 3200] Unity screen drawing problem

2010-12-05 Thread Reptile
I am also affected by the slow bug with an ATI HD5500 card in Meerkat
when installing gnome-shell.

Today I installed Natty and enabled the Ati driver and now when I reboot
the desktop background loads but nothing else. The computer is unusable.

Hitting Ctrl-Alt-F12 kills the desktop but no command prompt shows and I
am unable to move to an alternative login prompt to cleanly shutdown.
