I also have this bug. The problem for me is that the if the owner is different from the logged in owner Gedit will go into readonly mode. This is a contrast to an editor like Geany which allows me to save the file just fine. Gedit will then reopen this file and allow saves because the owner has become the expected owner. It is like Gedit is doing the work of the server and taking liberties in opening a file in read only mode. This doesn't work because it is not taking the group into account.
I have a script to update all my permissions back to the original owner/group so that other people can make changes to my scripts remotely. Gedit will then fail to save changes to these scripts once the owner/group was put back. This is only a bug that has become apparent with the Ubuntu Intrepid series, which I presume uses an updated version of Gedit2 than Hardy. -- gedit cannot save to sftp location https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/250540 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
