I can confirme this bug/missing feature. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mozilla-locale-de-at Hi there, my first bugreport so please be kind :-) Problem: mozilla-locale-de-at has the following dependencies: Depends: mozilla-browser (>= 2:1.7.12) Conflicts: mozilla-browser (>= 2:1.7.12.0) apparently this can't be solved. As I allready wrote in #542750 Since SM 2.0 is out since month, lucid definitly should ship the newer version! -SM 1.1.17 isn't up to date. The last 1.1 is 1.1.19 -SM 1.1 at all is completely outdated since at least 1/2 year. There are many unfixed security issues and we won't see any fixes. -SM2 is technically much closer to FF. So maintenance should be much easier -Is it a good idea to ship such an old software like SM 1.1 for the next 2-3 years? [Bug 461864] Re: Add Seamonkey 2.0 to Ubuntu
Wladimir: Also I'm afraid you're right saying 1.1.17 is going to ship with lucid, just saying "process is King" without any further arguments isn't enough to solve a problem. And "it's the truth" that there is a problem with SM in Ubuntu: - SM 2.0.0 was released on 27. oct 09, 2 days before carmic was released. So SM 2 was available from the first day of lucid development - This bugreport was filled at the same day SM 2 was released. - There is a debian package since 4. nov 09 like correctly stated from suspicous1 at the end of november. - Lucid is still shipping with SM 1.1.17 which was released on 22.06.2009. The Update to 1.1.18 from 3.09.09 is still missing. My question is: What's going wrong here with the "process", and is there something we can do to fix it? And that's the way my posting should be read: As a suggestion for a fix (add SM 2) or workarround (remove SM 1.1.x) for a bug i found when i was playing arround with Lucid Beta1. -- Add Seamonkey 2.0 to Ubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/461864 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 579300] Re: Please disable CONFIG_SOUND_OSS* and CONFIG_SND_*OSS*
As yota (ironical) wrote in comment #89: > Fix potential issue with multi-channel ordering when seeking/pausing if using OSS [25878] <- LOOK: ACTIVE OSS DEVELOPMENT IN 2010!!! THIS IS MADNESS! ;-) ...and clarified in comment #102: >Moreover I'm not an audio expert but it comes to mind also that OSS is >portable while ALSA is linux only, and so this choice damages various BSD >flavours and fragment the opensource sound landscape. ALSA is Linux only, while OSS - shabby as it may be compared to ALSA - is much more portable (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Sound_System says OSS is available on "11 major Unix-like operating systems"). So maybe we don't need OSS, but we (optional) need the ALSA OSS-emulation. - To not break the whole *nix Sound landscape in to a Linux and a Unix part - To not break many applications and games - To not harm the end user experience - To not be offensive to application/game developers which want to develop multi platform programs Blacklisting sounds like a compromise for me. But how does removing with no or only short-term announcing fits to the ubuntu philosophy to be "people's allegiances and relations with each other" (https://help.ubuntu.com/10.10/about-ubuntu/C/about-ubuntu-name.html)? In my opinion it's offensive to users and developers. Don't get me wrong: I'm sure there are reasons to drop OSS Support but please do it a long-term way to give developers and users the chance to prepare. Compiling but blacklisting dosn't harm anybody or anything, but gives an option for an easy workaround while still bringing the plans to drop OSS support into focus. regards Rechner-Tester -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/579300 Title: Please disable CONFIG_SOUND_OSS* and CONFIG_SND_*OSS* -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 669176] Re: hdapsd: dependencies shout reflect package information
Sorry, I missed to say that I really much would like to fix this bug on my own. But couldn't find the necessary file (I looked here: http://packages.ubuntu.com/maverick/i386/hdapsd/filelist ) to edit. Any advices? [Bug 158909] Re: smartmontools recommends mailx
I can confirm the situation (bug?) for maverick. As a workaround I used: sudo apt-get --no-install-recommends install smartmontools as stated here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IntrepidReleaseNotes#Recommended%20packages%20installed%20by%20default -- smartmontools recommends mailx https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/158909 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 669223] [NEW] tp-smapi-dkms: tp_smapi not loaded at boot
Public bug reported: Installing tp-smapi-dkms doesn't result in loading tp_smapi at boot time. I have to manually add tp_smapi to /etc/modules to take advantage. This problem also exists with lucid installed on an other ThinkPad T60. [Bug 621265] Re: Slow Wireless Connection in Intel 3945abg
I installed maverick on the above mentioned T60. Networkmanager shows me between 6-54 Mbit/s (and it recovers back to 48-54 Mbit/s even if it showed 6Mbit/s before). Download speeds with synaptic are at ~2500kbyte/s, as expected. Maybe it's because I'm ruining my AP with 802.11a/g (5Ghz) only? Encryption is set to WPA2-Personal/AES only too. -- Slow Wireless Connection in Intel 3945abg https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/621265 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 347711] Re: Realtek RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller Unstable on Jaunty
I could lately "fix" this problem by deactivating the energy saving option for the corresponding LAN port in the Router/Modem/Switch/AP-Box (AVM FritzBox 3270, FW: 96.04.80). Since I have no other operating system installed I unfortunately can not say if this is a problem with the FritzBox or if the kernel tries reducing the power consumption to aggressive -- Realtek RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller Unstable on Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/347711 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 621265] Re: Slow Wireless Connection in Intel 3945abg
I have a ThinkPad T60 here for installation, it has a 3945ABG and a Mobile Radeon X1300. Just checked the maverick release notes because the lucid kernel doesn't support the Radeon power-management (at least not very well) So I can choose between low network speed or high power consumption. Since this not my notebook maybe it would be better to go with the pre-installed windows than giving some one a bad impression of linux/ubuntu. Seems like a show stopper for me. :-( -- Slow Wireless Connection in Intel 3945abg https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/621265 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 621265] Re: Slow Wireless Connection in Intel 3945abg
Donny: Thank you for sharing your experience with me, but you got me wrong: lucid (Kernel 2.6.32) doesn't support the *powermanagment for Radeon GPUs* very well (if you're using KMS). My own T60 with Mobile Radeon X1400 takes about 18 watts with an installed lucid but only 12 watts with maverick rc live or this well known "other OS" ;-), (all with lowest brightness to be comparable) With maverick on the other hand I'll have my 12 watts but slow WiFi. [Bug 599849] Re: [SRU] Add Openbravo, Skype, Adobe Reader German and UEX to app-install-data-partner
Just for information: I installed skype on lucid x86 before it was in the partner repro.by adding the repository http://download.skype.com/linux/repos/debian/ (see:https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Skype) After i get into notice that skype was included in the partner repro I - purged skype and it's dependencies - removed the skype repro - reinstalled skype and it's dependencies from partner repro Was this really necessary to keep my installation clean and prober? How is this (conflict?) case resolved if it is not done manually?
