[Bug 1093617] Re: Kernel 3.5.0-21 will not shutdown on uefi booted machines
On the linux 3.5 kernel series it got introduced with 3.5.7.1 upstream patch. 3.5.0-19 doesn't include that one. With 3.5.0-20 and 3.5.0-21 this patch got included. 3.5.7.1 includes 270 new patches with 2 efi- releated ones. Those seem to me sane so I still don't know which patch introduced this regression. The linux 3.4 kernel series still seem to be fine. Only linux 3.6 and newer kernel version introduced this bug which got backported with 3.5.7.1 to the 3.5 kernel series. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1093617 Title: Kernel 3.5.0-21 will not shutdown on uefi booted machines To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1093617/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 594530] [NEW] ubuntu crashes while starting
Public bug reported: This Problem is by ubuntu 10.04. If I burn ubuntu 10.04 to usb or dvd and start the usb or dvd then it does not function. The boot-loader does function very good, because the ubnkern and ubninit load very fine. But after ubninit is ready the monitor turned to a black window, but I expected a ubuntu load page. I can press every Button while ubuntu 10.04 starts and nothing appears on the monitor. This problem is only by my acer-pc. If I start ubuntu 10.04 on my notebook or on a other pc it does function. So I think it is problem with my graphic card. My graphic card is ATI RS600 [Radeon Xpress 1200 Series]. Currently I used ubuntu 9.1 x86_64 on my acer pc and it starts very fine. The problem is only by ubuntu 10.04. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- ubuntu crashes while starting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/594530 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 594530] Re: ubuntu crashes while starting
I have solved the problem. For most ati-graphic card user it is important to change the boot options to nomodeset in the boot menu with press of F6 and the selection of nomodeset. Then the screen appears. But after a reboot of the new installed system these settings going lost. So you must type sudo gedit /etc/default/grub and add 'nomodeset' in the gab GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=" " so it is right: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=" nomodeset" then: sudo update-grub and then it is all right. I hope the status "fix released" means "solved" so i choose this. If someone know the right status, he can change this to the right status.
