On the linux 3.5 kernel series it got introduced with 3.5.7.1 upstream patch. 3.5.0-19 doesn't include that one. With 3.5.0-20 and 3.5.0-21 this patch got included. 3.5.7.1 includes 270 new patches with 2 efi- releated ones. Those seem to me sane so I still don't know which patch introduced this regression.
The linux 3.4 kernel series still seem to be fine.
