[Bug 1899146] [NEW] systemd-resolve has no --verbose or --debug flag

2020-10-09 Thread Olivier Godart
Public bug reported:

I understand that systemd-resolve is the tool to test queries through
systemd-resolved.

When investigation resolution issues (if it resolves fine with dig
@server domain.to.test but not with systemd-resolved), you can use
systemd-resolve --status to view the active configuration with the link
related parameters, OR use systemd-resolve domain.to.test to test the
resolution (but you have no details, just either a result, or a simple
"not found").

It would really help a lot to have either a --verbose or a --debug flag,
to see which server is queried, why, which domains are actually sent in
the query (based on the search domains), was the cache used (something
like the dig output would already be better).

Thanks!

[Bug 224133] Re: Sidewinder Module does not detect with power

2016-10-14 Thread Olivier Godart
No reason to mark this as "invalid". The bug is real, affects people, and a
valid patch was proposed (which is trivial).
Please include the patched module in futures versions the the kernel, otherwise
we need to recompile the whole thing every time.

[Bug 548415] Re: Shutdown timer no longer appears

2010-10-04 Thread Olivier Godart
Hello,
It happens that I ask my laptop to shutdown and then close the screen too fast
so I don't see the shutdown confirmation dialog.
The problem is that it's very irritating when I wake up the morning after and
see that my computer stayed awake all the night just because that timer feature
has been disabled!
I happened also to take it from my backpack with the battery empty or having
been switched off because of overheating!

Please, revert the shutdown timer feature, with a configuration option
(the length of time in seconds, with 0 for "no confirmation" and -1 for
"no timer").

Thanks

[Bug 1068146] Re: network-manager-vpnc fails to report RSA soft token password change required

2013-10-30 Thread Olivier Godart
Same problem affects me.
network-manager-vpnc works fine with tokencodes, until I make a mistake. If you
enter a wrong tokencode, the next attempts will always fail, because the server
ask for 2 different token codes, and this isn't supported. I have to boot a
windows virtualbox to be able to unblock the vpn access, by providing the 2
tokens in the cisco client.
It seems this is supported by vpnc however.

This is not related to this bug.
Check the proxy or MTU (I do have to change the MTU manually (I scripted it
of course) after connecting because the automatic value is wrong. There is
probably another bug open for that - try: ifconfig vpn0 mtu 1200)

[Bug 678137] Re: Xorg freezes, mouse pointer still moves

2011-08-18 Thread Olivier Godart
Hi,

IMHO, this is NOT a duplicate of bug #553789 : maybe the symptoms are
the same, but I experience it with the intel driver (with an intel
graphic card.

It happens to me sometimes when I try to open a word document in
libreoffice (but I can't swear it's always the case).

When it happens, everything on the screen is frozen, the keyboard doesn't react
(even the shift lock doesn't toggle the led).
The mouse can still move on the screen but can't click anything.
The hard disk still works so it's not a kernel panic.
The power button doesn't work, ctrl alt backspace doesn't work.

The only thing I can do is hard reboot.

I am running Ubuntu 11.04.
This is my uname -a : Linux olivier-Latitude-E6420 2.6.38-11-generic #48-Ubuntu
SMP Fri Jul 29 19:02:55 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

[Bug 1034370] [NEW] Cannot embed a file as an ole object

2012-08-08 Thread Olivier Godart
Public bug reported:

When I try to embed a pdf file, as an embedded document in libreoffice
writer, it tries to import the pdf file as a text file, instead of just
displaying a pdf icon that I can click to open.

To reproduce the bug,
1- start libreoffice writer 3
2- select from the menu "Insert>Object>OLE Object..."
3- select the "Create from file" radio button
4- click the "Search..." button
5- select any pdf or other non plaintext, non libreoffice compatible, or binary
document
6- click the "OK" button

Expected behaviour : an icon representing your document should be
inserted. Clicking on the icon should open the document using the
appropriate program.

Observed behaviour : an "ASCII Filter Options" dialog is displayed.
Clicking OK in that dialog will insert a frame containing the text from
the pdf file (as if you just cat the pdf file).

I am using Ubuntu linux v12.04 and libreoffice v3.5.4.2, but I think the
bug has always existed, as I had the same problem before with
openoffice.

Got this message :

OK, I'm installing the libreoffice package then.

** Tags added: apport-collected precise running-unity

** Description changed:

When I try to embed a pdf file, as an embedded document in libreoffice
writer, it tries to import the pdf file as a text file, instead of just
displaying a pdf icon that I can click to open.

  To reproduce the bug,
  1- start libreoffice writer 3
2- select from the menu "Insert>Object>OLE Object..."
3- select the "Create from file" radio button
  4- click the "Search..." button
5- select any pdf or other non plaintext, non libreoffice compatible, or
binary document
  6- click the "OK" button

Expected behaviour : an icon representing your document should be
inserted. Clicking on the icon should open the document using the
  appropriate program.

Observed behaviour : an "ASCII Filter Options" dialog is displayed.
Clicking OK in that dialog will insert a frame containing the text from
the pdf file (as if you just cat the pdf file).

[Bug 1034370] Re: Cannot embed a file as an ole object

2012-08-08 Thread Olivier Godart
Ok, I installed libreoffice-pdfimport and now when I insert a pdf file, it
inserts a frame with the pdf content.
That's good, but it's still not possible to insert a clickable icon instead of
the actual document.
If for example I would like to insert a zip file instead, I just can't.

[Bug 1034598] [NEW] Cannot embed a binary file as an OLE object

2012-08-08 Thread Olivier Godart
Public bug reported:

When I try to embed a file (a zip file for example) in libreoffice
writer document, it tries to import the file as a text, instead of just
displaying an icon representing the file type, that I can click to open.

I really think this feature should be added because in my experience, it's a
common practice in many companies. I have been confronted to this in the last 2
companies I worked for.
We write requirements document or reports and add other documents as annexes in
the main document. Those annexes can any type (source files, specification
documents, spreadsheets with test results, a signed contract, or even
binaries), so that's why I opened this bug.

To reproduce the bug,
1- start libreoffice writer 3
2- select from the menu "Insert>Object>OLE Object..."
3- select the "Create from file" radio button
4- click the "Search..." button
5- select any binary file like a zip file
6- click the "OK" button

Expected behaviour : an icon representing your file should be inserted.
Clicking on the icon should open the file using the appropriate program.

Observed behaviour : an "ASCII Filter Options" dialog is displayed.
Clicking OK in that dialog will insert a frame containing the text from
the file (a lot of special charrarcters if it's a binary file).

I am using Ubuntu linux v12.04 and libreoffice v3.5.4.2, but I think the
bug has always existed, as I had the same problem long time ago with
openoffice.

[Bug 776745] Re: Unity's sidebar 'Urgent' icon animation not constant

2012-03-07 Thread Olivier Godart
I confirm, this is a regression bug in my opinion, since the behaviour
of gnome-panel was correct (in previous versions of ubuntu). Now that it
was replaced by the unity panel, the urgent animation lasts only e few
seconds and then stops. The icon should shake untill the window becomes
active.

Let's say, to be more detailed, that as long as the little arrow is
blue, the wiggle animation should repeat after completion. That's just a
loop to add, doesn't need new design.

[Bug 943877] Re: Clicking an icon on the launcher, that was previously set to be "Keep in launcher", duplicates the icon and the program that it runs

2012-03-07 Thread Olivier Godart
I've the same issue in Oneiric, to reproduce it:
- Remove all eclipse and virtualbox icons from the launcher.
- Open eclipse or virtualbox (from the dash).
- Right-click on the icon and select "Keep in launcher".
- Close the application.
- Open it again, by clicking on the laucher icon.
-> The icon is duplicated.

[Bug 153301] Re: weather applet won't use automatic-proxy-configuration

2010-10-20 Thread Olivier Godart
Using Ubuntu 10.04, automatic proxy set in the "Network proxy" gnome
preferences, environment variables are also set (by the same "Network proxy"
tool) for manual proxy.
The weather applet uses NO proxy and tries to connect directly to
"weather.noaa.gov" (I saw this in wireshark).

There is no (or I didn't find) verbose or debug option for that applet.
This would be a nice feature to add.
