[Bug 50429] Warning when uninstalling gnome packages with aptitude

2006-06-20 Thread Oliver Klee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: scrollkeeper

I'm using Kubuntu Dapper i386 upgraded from Breezy on an AMD Athlon 1400
MHz system with 1.5 GB of RAM and an Nvidia graphics card on an Asus
A7A266 board.

A few days ago, I installed the packacge "ubuntu-desktop" (and all its
dependencies) using aptitude.

Now I'm deinstalling that package and all its dependencies again (after
having marked the dependencies as "purge" so that the configuration
files won't be left behind), also using aptitude.

Every few packages, I see a warning like this:

Lösche Konfigurationsdateien von gnome-games ...
Entferne gnome-games-data ...
I/O warning : failed to load external entity
"/var/lib/scrollkeeper/(null)/scrollkeeper_cl.xml"

The deinstallation process doesn't stop, though.

[Bug 50449] Firefox hangs with Flash

2006-06-20 Thread Oliver Klee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libflash-mozplugin

I'm using Kubuntu Dapper i386 upgraded from Breezy on an AMD Athlon 1400 MHz
system with 1.5 GB of RAM and an Nvidia graphics
card on an Asus A7A266 board.

This bug occurs with:
- firefox 1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.4-0ubuntu6.06
- libflash-mozplugin 0.4.13-5ubuntu1
- libflash0c2 0.4.13-5ubuntu1

Steps to reproduce:
1. Using Firefox with libflash-mozplugin installed, visit
http://www.heise.de/newsticker/ .
2. Middle-click one news item after another to open all news items in tabs in
the background.

After a few tabs (when there is a news item with a Flash ad), Firefox

[Bug 51000] X.org leaks the world

2006-06-26 Thread Oliver Klee
Public bug reported:

I'm using Kubuntu Dapper i386 upgraded from Breezy on an AMD Athlon 1400
MHz system with 1.5 GB of RAM and an Nvidia graphics card on an Asus
A7A266 board.

When working, usually I have the following programs open at the same time (I'll
attach a complete typical process list):
- Firefox
- Thunderbird
- Eclipse (using the Sun's Java JRE)
- Amarok
- Psi
- Skype
- Krusader

After a I while (a few hours), my system tends to get sluggish. Top
reveals that the X.org process is using most of my memory (it uses about
1 GB of RAM). Closing Thunderbird, Firefox, Skype, Amarok, Krusader and
Eclipse doesn't help. Logging out and in again (and thus restarting the
X server) makes the memory usage go back to normal.

[Bug 52112] Error message "buffer shorter than subpacket" when touching my keyring

2006-07-06 Thread Oliver Klee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnupg

In my GPG keyring, I have 312 keys (including mine) and 71350
signatures. I regularly do a "--refresh-keys" to download new
signatures.

For the last few days, I get the following error message (or warning)
when doing anything with my keyring:

gpg: buffer shorter than subpacket
gpg: buffer shorter than subpacket
gpg: signature packet without keyid
gpg: buffer shorter than subpacket

(I refer to these four lines as "message block" further down.)

When doing gpg --rebuild-keydb-caches, I get this message block once.

When doing gpg --check-trustdb, I get this message block 6 times.

When doing gpg --refresh-keys, I get this message 10 times: Once at the
beginning and 9 times at the end of the process.

I'm not really sure whether this really is a bug in gnupg or just a
malformed key (and if so, how I can find out which key it is).

[Bug 52113] GPG support stopped working

2006-07-06 Thread Oliver Klee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: psi

I'm using Kubuntu Dapper i386 upgraded from Breezy on an AMD Athlon 1400
MHz system with 1.5 GB of RAM and an Nvidia graphics card on an Asus
A7A266 board.

For some time, I've been using PSI with GPG encryption for some
contacts. Usually, PSI asks me first for my Jabber password and then for
my GPG passphrase.

For some days now, PSI doesn't ask me for the GPG passphrase anymore,
and the button for GPG encryption in the chat window is disabled. In my
account setup (details), the complete section "OpenGPG" now is disabled.
In addition, a message is displayed in that section: "Unknown key:
10BFA4E2" - which is not my key ID (= the last 4 bytes of my key
fingerprint), but the 4 bytes before that.

Sending and receiving signed and encrypted messages still works fine
using Thunderbird and Enigmail.

I case this is relevant: I'm usually running kgpg in the background.

In addition, bug 52112 popped up about the same time as this problem,
but I'm not sure these problems really are related.

Is there any debug output I could provide to help narrow down the
problem?

2. start konsole
3. set the background to "paper" and save that as standard
4. start yakuake

Expected results:

[Bug 57809] libpcsclite.so should be in libpcsclite1, not in libpcsclite-dev

2006-08-26 Thread Oliver Klee

[Bug 52809] KDM dies after logging out

Binary package hint: kdm

This happens on a Kubuntu Dapper with current updates on a Sempron64

This works:
- logging in from kdm

[Bug 53355] Re: Firefox dies with Bus error when pressing CTRL+O

2006-07-18 Thread Oliver Klee
Actually, it looks like Firefox crashes whenever a file dialog is about
to open: When saving a page, when a file would be downloaded and saved
to disk etc.

This probably is a regression.

[Bug 53355] Re: Firefox crashes when any dialog gets opened

2006-07-28 Thread Oliver Klee
This looks to be user-specific:

- Created a new linux user. Logged in and started Firefox as that user, opened
a file picker. No crash.
- As my normal user, I still get the crash even after deleting ~/.gtk*,
~/.firefox and ~/.mozilla.

Is there anything I can do to further nail down this bug?

[Bug 53355] Re: Firefox crashes when any dialog gets opened

2006-07-30 Thread Oliver Klee
I've nailed down the problem a bit further. This seems to be some
strange permissions problem.

1. When I delete all contents (including hidden files) from a newly-
created test user's home and then log in as that user (using KDE) and
start firefox, everything works fine. Opening file pickers works fine.
Even the Ubuntu start page gets displayed properly.

2. When I delete all contents (including hidden files) from my home and
then log in as me (using KDE) and start firefox, I still see the same
symptons as before: Opening a file picker still crashes, and I still get
the warning about the missing start page (bug #49152).

locale produces the same output for both users:

for installing (or whether I still have it), so I cannot test it for
defects either. Sorry that I cannot help here.

[Bug 62683] Tries to send reports via e-mail although HTTP has been selected

2006-09-27 Thread Oliver Klee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: popularity-contest

I'm using Dapper i386 with all updates on a machine in a local network
(connected to the world wild web via NAT) with a local name:
gonzales.9thfloor.local

Using sudo dpkg-reconfigure popularity-contest, I've set popularity-
contest to be enabled and to use HTTP instead of e-mail. Yet, it seems
that popularity-contest still tries to send the reports via e-mail ...
and fails. I find e-mails like the following in my local inbox:

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

I'm using KDE 4.4.2 from Lucid Lynx on a board with i965 graphics.

I've connected two 1600x1200 monitors to my computer, one via DVI and
the other via analog VGA. When using them for cloning each other's
  contents, both work fine.

  Steps to reproduce the problem:
  1. in the KDE system settings > display > size & orientation, check that both
displays are visible. VGA1 is first, DVI1 is second.
  2. For DVI1, change from "clone of VGA1" to "to the left of VGA1" and click
on "apply".

  Expected results:
The "is this setting correct" dialog appears, and I have 30 second to either
accept or revert the new settings. No crash.

  Actual results:
The "is this setting correct" dialog appears. After about 1 or two seconds,
I'm facing the KDM login again.

[Bug 586910] [NEW] Java editor view has no focus after double-clicking a java file

2010-05-28 Thread Oliver Klee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eclipse

Steps to reproduce:

1. in the Package explorer, double-click on a Java file
2. press CTRL + F to search for some string in the file

Expected results:
A Java editor view gets opened. The Java editor view gets the focus, and CTRL +
F opens the find/replace dialog for that file.

Actual results:
A Java editor view gets opened. Focus however stays at the Package explorer
view, and CTRL + F opens some search field for the Package explorer.

This worked fine with the Eclipse in Kubuntu 9.10.

In addition, Zend Studio for Eclipse also is affected. This worked fine
in Zend Studios for Eclipse 7.12 on Kubuntu 9.10, and after re-
installing Kubuntu 10.04 (and copying back my home directory which also
includes Zend Studio), this was broken.

I've also filed this in the Eclipse bug tracker, but the Eclipse folk
says that this probably is "buried lower":
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=312568

Launchpad issue #237819 sounds a bit similar, but I'm not quite sure
about this.

[Bug 49575] Latest Thunderbird update leads to the deinstallation of mozilla-thunderbird-enigmail

2006-06-13 Thread Oliver Klee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird-enigmail

mozilla-thunderbird-enigmail 2:0.94:0-ubuntu4 depends on both mozilla-
thunderbird < 1.5.0.2.0 and >= 1.5.0.2 so that updating mozilla-
thunderbird from 1.5.0.2-0ubuntu2 to 1.5.0.4-0ubuntu6.06 would lead to
deinstalling enigmail.

In other words, if I want to keep using enigmail, I cannot install the
critical update to thunderbird.

Currently, the two dependencies in the mozilla-thunderbird-enigmail
package conflict. They probably should be combined into one dependency.

[Bug 1927854] [NEW] Warning when updating to version 0.3.10

2021-05-09 Thread Oliver Klee
Public bug reported:

I have updated to usb-creator-kde using aptitude. During the update,
this warning is displayed:

/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/usbcreator/frontends/kde/frontend.py:140:
SyntaxWarning: "is not" with a literal. Did you mean "!="?
  if self.__img is not '':

(I don't know whether this problem also occurred with earlier versions,
i.e., whether is it a regression. I also don't know whether this problem
only affects the update or also the installation.)

[Bug 1826939] [NEW] Network restart after suspend is unreliable

2019-04-29 Thread Oliver Klee
Public bug reported:

After suspending my computer to standby and then waking it up again,
networking restarts unreliably: Sometimes it restarts fine, sometimes it
takes a few seconds to restart, and sometimes it takes more than a
minute (I didn't wait longer).

When the network wakeup is not finished, pings to my local router get a
timeout, and "sudo service networking restart" creates this output:

klee@gonzales:~$ ping router
PING router (192.168.100.254) 56(84) bytes of data.
>From gonzales (192.168.100.2) icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable

After I have done a "sudo service networking restart", the output is this:

(And the pings work fine again, too.)

This is a regression after the upgrade from 18.10 (where networking
wakeup worked fine) to 19.04.

2016-09-16 Thread Oliver Klee
This bug doesn't occur any longer. Maybe one of the recent KDE updates
has fixed it.
