[Bug 94396] Re: kpowersave suspends to ram after resuming from hibernate
I had this problem when I had guidance-power-manager or kde-guidance- powermanager installed, clicking on Suspend to RAM worked, but suspending with the power button gave that result. It was a little different though, it would go to sleep, wake, go to sleep, wake, go to sleep, and then finally be awake. *** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: I upgraded to 8.10 (beta at the moment) and then checked what else was running... guidance-power-manager was installed (not kde-guidance- powermanager!) so I apt-get removed it. Result: on suspend (either running /usr/sbin/pm-suspend, pushing the power button which is assigned to suspend by kpowersave, or selecting suspend to ram in kpowersave) lock the screen, even though that option is set in kpowersave. kpowersave shows the message that it's suspending in all three cases as well. Re: [Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share
it's not only certain hardware. It's a general frustration with Ubuntu, for example flash worked in Gutsy. With Hardy it crashes all the time or there are problems with the sound (I guess they are related to pulseaudio or something) The point is: I think Ubuntu should try harder to provide a better user experience and take QA more seriously. [Bug 120018] Re: vim can't open files under curlftpfs directory
This is still a problem under the latest intrepid, and I'm fairly sure I've seen the exact same behavior on my Jaunty machine as well. curlftpfs 0.9.2 libcurl/7.18.2 fuse/2.7 vim fails with E667: Fsync failed (and the data is NOT written to the file) cp fails with an cp: closing 'filename.txt' input/output error, but the file IS created and written properly. kate complains about not being able to save the file as well, but DOES write it I'm willing to run test cases, let me know what's needed. -- vim can't open files under curlftpfs directory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120018 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 120018] Re: vim can't open files under curlftpfs directory
good ideas for testing. I just tried: - Situation 1: create a directory (755), touch a file in it, then vi it, Result: E677, no backup file, no data in it. - Situation 2: chmod the directory to 770, vi the file in the dir, E507, backup file exists, but no data in either file (the backup file being empty is OK since the orig file was empty) - Situation 3,4: chmod the dir to 777 and try vi-ing the file and chmodding the file to 666 and trying the vi is the same as situation 2 a cp in that dir with 777 privs also gives the IO error, but the file is created with the right content. Anyone in the mood to write a perl or C test script that tries several write-close-fsync combinations out to narrow down the problem? Funnily enough kate writes the file but complains, and vi does not write and complain... maybe a different order of when the backup is created/written, or a bug in kate that writes the main file even if the backup fails? -- vim can't open files under curlftpfs directory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120018 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 345268] [NEW] Kate saves file but says it could not save
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kate I have an FTP site mounted with curlftpfs where editing files fails with vim (see bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/curlftpfs/+bug/120018), so I tried kate. - open the file with kate and edit the file - click save and the error is "The document could not be saved, as it was not possible to write to . Check that you have write access to this file or that enough disk space is available." The file IS written, however. No backup file is created. Please have a look at the curlftpfs bug for more info on attempts with other editors. Kates actions should be consistent with it's deeds. If the file is saved but no backup is possible, then this should be the error message. Etc. Running latest intrepid amd64. Kate 3.1.4 in KDE 4.1.4.
