I recently switched to Windows Vista on my laptop, because of the stuff not working on Linux (video codecs, dvd, flash, ati drivers, reasonable power managemen, suspend, hibernate, etc) and the crappy user experience provided by gnome. Further the desktop search (i think it's called tracker) did not work correct.
Personally I would recommend to change the topic in "provide a reasonable user experience" or something like this.
