[Bug 34505] Re: Wireless network interface (ipw2200) does not have IP address after boot

2006-08-16 Thread Nikopol
The issue seems to have become worse for me as not even dhclient will
get me an IP address after boot on my ipw2200 (Dell Inspiron 1300). The
only resolution to the problem is opening networkconfig and decativating
then reactivating the wireless card. That will make it get an IP address
but only then will that work.

[Bug 138533] Re: nautilus panels are not clickable after login

2007-09-27 Thread Nikopol
Sorry for lack of resp - was without www for a few weeks.
Problem is still there with the latest updates of Gutsy (completely up to date
and synch) despite upgrading most of the packages involved.
Another issue crops up if I do a ctrl-alt backspace X restart - when I logon
again (without rebooting the system as a whole) gnome-panel will not appear at
all (but the desktop will still be there). Maybe the bug is not exactly
nautilus related then?

[Bug 226524] [NEW] Sound STILL not working

2008-05-04 Thread Nikopol
Public bug reported:

I upgraded my Ubuntu distro to 8.04, but i have this problem since 7.10
version: sound doesn't work properly.
In previous versions sound worked with some issue: I could open audio once a
time (for example i could listen audio from an internet page only if there
wasn't anything that used sound). And that was a golden age.
Now, with 8.04, sound doesn't work at all. Only Rithmbox runs without problems,
but with all the other applications there's no sound. When i open an audio or
video file, it starts to do some BEEEP. VLC sometimes plays audio for a few
seconds, then starts to beeps. It isn't a beep, but a beeping rustle.

Please help me! I've tried everything: refreshing kernels or removing
and installing for a second time the alsa files. I've tried all the
official and unofficial guides to resolve audio problems, but nothing
worked.

It's a big matter: i need to resolve this problem, because i have no
other way to watch videos or listening audio files and i can't remove
and re-install ubuntu! I'm in your hands.

I don't know what I have to post for help you to help me. Just ask, I'll
do.

Thanks and sorry for the bad english

[Bug 226524] Re: Sound STILL not working

2008-05-04 Thread Nikopol
Right, I forgot to say the most important things.

Sound card: Sound Blaster Live 24bit 7.1

Kernel: 2.6.24-16

Alsa used the Emu10k1 module, but i suppose it's the wrong one. I tried
to change it with the most appropiate "ca0106"... (obviously it doesn't
work too)

[Bug 226524] Re: SoundBlaster Live: sound STILL not working

2008-05-04 Thread Nikopol
(partially) SOLVED!

Open /etc/esound/esd.conf :
[esd]
# autospawning is not recommended, since it can't really be done
# right. If you want your login session to be using a sound daemon,
# you should start it from the session controller, not some random
# app inside.
auto_spawn=0
spawn_options=-terminate -nobeeps -as 2
spawn_wait_ms=100
# default options are used in spawned and non-spawned mode
default_options=

and edit with:
auto_spawn=1
spawn_options=-terminate -nobeeps -as 2 -d default

Now sounds works, but I lost sorround settings.
If i try this command speaker-test -Dplug:surround51 -c6 -l1 -twavit
says:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ speaker-test -Dplug:surround51 -c6 -l1 -twav

[Bug 138533] nautilus panels are not clickable after login

2007-09-10 Thread Nikopol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

For about 2-4 minutes after I logon both the top menu (applications etc)
and the bottom one (virtual desktop) are not accessible to me - if I
click on them nothing happens. However, all the clicking around seems to
be remembered and is then acted upon after the 3 minute hang so you get
3 copies of firefox opening then.

Not sure what else I need to submit with this report - the desktop works
fine btw so I've started to created shortcuts on the desktop so I can
work while waiting for the panels to fuction

[Bug 190498] [NEW] In hardy, cpu cycle problem after shutting and opening laptop lid

Public bug reported:

In Hardy, after shutting my laptop lid (it's not set to suspned or hibertnate -
just to switch off the screen) and re-opening it,
the cpu cycles go out of control and some strange things happen.

- The theme moves from human to a blueish one then back again, slowing down the
system.
- if firefox or thunderbird are running, either one of them will start hogging
all the cpu cycles to then become unresponsive and crash,

[Bug 185064] Can't play two sounds at the same time

2008-01-22 Thread Nikopol
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy
Kernel 2.6.22-14-generic

Ubuntu can't play two sounds at the same time: for example audacious
doesn't work while listening music on Rhythmbox. It says that another
application is using soundcard. Under Xp everything goes well, it isn't
a soundcard issue. It's a Creative SoundBlaster Live 24bit.

None of the solutions suggested to similar bugs works for me. I've tried
everything.

Help! Does anyone know what to do? Thanks

Seems to happen actually quite regularly without a clear connection to
anything.

[Bug 174899] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV

2007-12-27 Thread Nikopol
Attached my xorg.conf and the latest log - I think the issue is video
related. I think it's pretty much exclusively happened when either a
video was running or when I switched on desktop effects (is that still
under compiz?)

Looked at the other bug and it may be the same problem.

[Bug 173265] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV

2007-12-27 Thread Nikopol
the new Deb doesn't fix it here either - and it's present in alpha 2. A
bit of a shame - I guess Vesa is the only option to keep it functional
at the mo' :(

I've also found that the gnome-panel becomes unclickable (and becomes
blank) - not sure if it's related but it seems to be linked with
maximising the video windows while trying to figure out the crash.
Strangely even restarting X does not resolve the issue so I've put
myself a link to gnome-terminal on the Desktop

[Bug 173265] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV

Seems to have found a workaround by using the i810 driver with
915resolution - can no longer replicate the bug when doing that.

[Bug 173265] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV

2007-12-28 Thread Nikopol
Just to clarify the workaround - it's actually stopped working properly.
For some reason gdm login is in the correct screen format but as soon as
I log on it goes to something non widescreen and warped. Still workable
(typing on it now) but not a perfect workaround yet.

[Bug 84446] Re: crash after latest update

2007-03-31 Thread Nikopol
** Description changed:

- This is for beryl-core , I had to select "I don't know" because it said
- that it doesn't exist yet there where other reports similar to mine with
- beryl-core. In the other crash reports people have said that it was with
- a nVidia card. But I have a ATi 9600xt and am using XGL and my version
- is edgy. Not only is it crashing on start up but it will cause my system
- to freeze up and the only way to get out of it is to reboot. When I'm in
- a gnome session and I try to start beryl it will do the same thing.
- After a little while it will cause my system to cease up. And even if I
- go ctrl+alt+f1 and try to run beryl and then go back to gnome it will
- cause my system to freeze up. I have a crash file but I don't know how
- to attach it. If you need it let me know how to send it and I will.
