[Bug 1875134] [NEW] Brightness and contrast not working on Canon Lide 60
Public bug reported: When using /usr/bin/scanimage (or /usr/bin/simple-scan) to scan an image using a Canon CanoScan Lide 60 scanner, it ignores whatever you put in the --brightness and --contrast parameters. [Bug 1406106] Re: 0489:e062 [Sony VAIO SVF1531C5E] Bluetooth adapter does not see BT devices
Thank you for your advice, Jeremy. After some research (please look at http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-bluetooth/msg57515.html) I end up with the firmware correctly loaded from a file called BCM43142A0-0489-e062.hcd. But even this way, I need to reboot Linux several times in order to get the BT adapter fully working. Sometimes I get lucky and it works at the very first try, but it does not happen very often. Marcel Holtmann (kernel maintainer for the BT module) suggests in http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-bluetooth/msg57523.html that I can try increasing HCI_INIT_TIMEOUT in the kernel, but unfortunately I have no time to do more experiments by now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1406106 Title: 0489:e062 [Sony VAIO SVF1531C5E] Bluetooth adapter does not see BT devices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1406106/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1263351] Re: 0489:e062 [Sony VAIO SVF1421C5E] Bluetooth adapter does not work with Broadcom driver
Today I have booted the laptop again and tried to pair a bluetooth device, but it didn't show any in the list anymore :-(. I tried to think what I did different three days ago, and realized I booted Windows 8 to gather the bluetooth driver. So I booted into Windows 8, then just rebooted into Ubuntu 14.04 and voilà, it can see BT devices again. So #20 solution partially works, but it needs some kind of "enablement" which is done by the Windows driver. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1263351 Title: 0489:e062 [Sony VAIO SVF1421C5E] Bluetooth adapter does not work with Broadcom driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/1263351/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1406106] [NEW] Sony VAIO SVF1531C5E Bluetooth adapter (0489:e062) does not see BT devices
Public bug reported: The Bluetooth adapter is detected and apparently working but, when choosing "Configure a new device", the device list is always empty (it cannot see any BT device around). But, if I boot into Windows 8 just before booting into Ubuntu, the adapter works perfectly and it sees all BT devices. It seems the Windows 8 driver is performing some activation to the BT adapter. Test case: Step 1: power on the Sony VAIO SVF1531C5E and boot into Ubuntu 14.04.1. Step 2: type "dmesg | grep Bluetooth" and look at the output. Notice the timeout error shown at the end: [ 15.691891] Bluetooth: Core ver 2.19 [ 15.691912] Bluetooth: HCI device and connection manager initialized [ 15.691918] Bluetooth: HCI socket layer initialized [ 15.691920] Bluetooth: L2CAP socket layer initialized [ 15.691926] Bluetooth: SCO socket layer initialized [ 19.571783] Bluetooth: RFCOMM TTY layer initialized [ 19.571794] Bluetooth: RFCOMM socket layer initialized [ 19.571799] Bluetooth: RFCOMM ver 1.11 [ 19.619432] Bluetooth: BNEP (Ethernet Emulation) ver 1.3 [ 19.619435] Bluetooth: BNEP filters: protocol multicast [ 19.619442] Bluetooth: BNEP socket layer initialized [ 21.772160] Bluetooth: hci0 command 0x1003 tx timeout Step 3: try to list BT devices by clicking on the bluetooth icon at the top right of the screen and then selecting "Configure a new device". The device's list will be empty: it should list all bluetooth-enabled devices around. Step 4: reboot the laptop and boot into a Windows partition (mine is Windows 8.1). Step 5: wait until it is completely booted, then just reboot. Step 6: boot into Ubuntu again. Step 7: type "dmesg | grep Bluetooth" and look at the output. This time there is no "hci0 command 0x1003 tx timeout" message at the end: [ 15.569891] Bluetooth: Core ver 2.19 [ 15.569911] Bluetooth: HCI device and connection manager initialized [ 15.569918] Bluetooth: HCI socket layer initialized [ 15.569921] Bluetooth: L2CAP socket layer initialized [ 15.569930] Bluetooth: SCO socket layer initialized [ 19.571790] Bluetooth: RFCOMM TTY layer initialized [ 19.571801] Bluetooth: RFCOMM socket layer initialized [ 19.571806] Bluetooth: RFCOMM ver 1.11 [ 19.719275] Bluetooth: BNEP (Ethernet Emulation) ver 1.3 [ 19.719278] Bluetooth: BNEP filters: protocol multicast [ 19.719285] Bluetooth: BNEP socket layer initialized Step 8: try to list BT devices around by clicking on the bluetooth icon at the top right of the screen, and then selecting "Configure a new device". [Bug 607560] Re: jbd2 writing block every 5 - 10 seconds, preventing disk spin-down and making noise
Ubuntu 12.04.1 Same annoying problem here. JBD2 is causing EXTREMELY high IO everytime. Next iotop sample belongs to a large file writing through NFS: $ sudo iotop -oq Total DISK READ: 0.00 B/s | Total DISK WRITE:1784.50 K/s 239 be/3 root0.00 B/s0.00 B/s 0.00 % 99.65 % [jbd2/sdb1-8] 1224 be/4 root0.00 B/s 116.89 K/s 0.00 % 1.13 % [nfsd] 1220 be/4 root0.00 B/s 163.64 K/s 0.00 % 0.37 % [nfsd] 1226 be/4 root0.00 B/s 187.02 K/s 0.00 % 0.24 % [nfsd] 1223 be/4 root0.00 B/s 109.10 K/s 0.00 % 0.24 % [nfsd] 1225 be/4 root0.00 B/s 175.33 K/s 0.00 % 0.21 % [nfsd] 1222 be/4 root0.00 B/s 187.02 K/s 0.00 % 0.15 % [nfsd] 1219 be/4 root0.00 B/s 175.33 K/s 0.00 % 0.13 % [nfsd] 1221 be/4 root0.00 B/s 124.68 K/s 0.00 % 0.13 % [nfsd] The file copy started OK (80 MB/s) and, after 1 or 2 minutes, speed dropped to barely 1 MB/s. As you can see, there are no other processes doing IO at this time. This behaviour appears randomly and VERY often, not necessarily when doing net IO, so my system becomes unresponsive again and again. Other OSes behave perfectly in this machine, so it's not a hardware issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/607560 Title: jbd2 writing block every 5 - 10 seconds, preventing disk spin-down and making noise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/607560/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 607560] Re: jbd2 writing block every 5 - 10 seconds, preventing disk spin-down and making noise
After getting really upset because of this issue (see comment #88), I decided to fully erase my HD and reinstall Ubuntu 12.04.1 again. Then I installed all applications I've been using before, and this problem fully disappeared. No idea of what was causing it, really.
