Here is the output of lspci concerning the wireless card: Network controller: Broadcom Corporation Unknown device 4328 (rev 01) The good news is that bcm43xx now works with this card, although it's still unreported on their site. I used modprobe -r to unload ndiswrapper: wireless connection fell. Then loaded bcm43xx: roaming mode was available again, and worked as previously. The bad news is I still can't use manual config. Each time I repeat the manual configuration I get a different result. Sometimes it reverts as previously to WPA and no password; once I managed to have the network appear with 'iwlist wlan0 scan', but there seemed to be no Intenet connection; another time when I tried to deactivate the wireless by unchecking the box and activated the wired connection, I could not connect with either anymore no matter what I did, I restarted to check in Mac OS X if it wasn't an ISP problem; it was not, and when I reeentered Ubuntu roaming mode was working again. [Bug 87960] Re: installing compiz will make using metacity impossible (even after uninstalling)
I am using Ubuntu 7.10 final and gnome-wm file is not patched as decribed here in the preceding post. Compiz is still the fall-back window manager. I had to manually change it to metacity in gnome-wm and gconf. I did a command line install, and when I started gnome, I had a window-manager I could not recognize (only one window at the time could be displayed). -- installing compiz will make using metacity impossible (even after uninstalling) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/87960 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 138015] Re: Cinepaint crashes when opening preferences
I have already reported this in the gimp bugzilla and on lcms mailing list. It seems it is a problem with the way lcms (the colour management library used by both gimp and cinepaint) handles icc v4 profiles. See http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg02122.html, for instance. [Bug 176648] Impossible to change screen brightness on iMac (white)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hal On a imac(white) Core2Duo, ATIX1600, there is no way, using tools included with the distribution, to change the intensity of the LCD backlight. One has to use a program by Nicolas Boichat called bl1.c (which by the way seems to have stopped working with the present state of 8.04-Hardy). This is annoying as the screen defaults to max brightness, which many find quite blinding. This problem seems to affect all models of Intel iMacs and Macbooks. I wonder if there is a solution at kernel level somewhere? ** Affects: hal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Impossible to change screen brightness on iMac (white) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/176648 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 208941] [NEW] Pasting from Firefox to openoffice does not always work
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10, fully updated. Sometimes, pasting from Firefox into Openoffice works as if the clipboard stopped being updated. Steps to reproduce: 1.Select 'www.foo.com' in url bar in Firefox. 2.In Firefox, Edit > Copy 3.In Openoffice, Edit>Paste (Openoffice pastes www.foo.com) 4.Repeat the same steps for url 'www.bar.com' Result: Openoffice keeps pasting 'www.foo.com', even though you copied a new address. Expected result: Openoffice should paste the new address, 'www.bar.com'. Everything works normally when pasting to gedit, and from gedit to Openoffice. As a workaround, paste from Firefox to gedit, then from gedit to Openoffice. ** Affects: openoffice.org (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Pasting from Firefox to openoffice does not always work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/208941 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 136235] Re: Freeze when mounting firewire 400 FAT 32drive in gutsy
In my case, this seems at least partly dependent on the kernel driver. On other distributions and with file managers other than Nautilus, there is always a long pause before I can see the content of this Firewire hard drive. Neverthless, the wait is greatly reduce using a custom 2.6.24 kernel compiled with the 'juju' stack. Still does not not work well in Fedora 8, though (which uses juju, I think, but 2.6.23). -- Freeze when mounting firewire 400 FAT 32drive in gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136235 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
