[Bug 179304] Re: mod_mono.so looks for missing /usr/bin/mod-mono-server

2008-06-17 Thread Luciano
Hi, this problem can be solved with Link to mod-mono-server2 i did:

cd /bin/
ln -s mod-mono-server mod-mono-server2

I write a mail to the mono-devel list, and it have this response
http://www.nabble.com/forum/ViewPost.jtp?post=17830043&framed=y
It is an Ubuntu Package problem.

This problem is present when only mod-mono-server2 is installed (without
having mod-mono-server installed, the previous version)

[Bug 331008] Re: Cursor position is automagically changed/selected

2009-03-03 Thread Luciano
I have a Windows XP installed on the same laptop and it works as usual.

1) Yes, my hands aren't typing the touchpad (if this is the problem, why
doesn't have the same problem on Windows?)
2) The laptop is new, i bought 2 months ago.
3) Yes, this work, so i guess is a bug.
So, the only solution is to plug a mouse? It isn't a bug?
Thanks

[Bug 405294] Re: a2dp skips terribly in Karmic

2009-12-13 Thread Luciano
Just wanted to add my two cents worth ...

I spent most of the day trying to figure out why this was happening.

This is definitely not a PA problem. It also occurs using ALSA with the
bluetooth plugin.

This is a problem at the bluetooth stack level.

As stated above, it appears that it has something to do with the fact
both A2DP and hsc are enabled simultaneously. I also was able to work
around it using blueman and connecting/disconnecting the different
profiles. However, before that I changed some settings on the bluez
daemon configuration. Otherwise the blueman trick doesn't work. I have
the following settings in audio.conf:

#[General]
Enable=Source,Control,Sink
Disable=Headset,Gateway
AutoConnect=false

#[Headset]
HFP=true
MaxConnected=1

And the following link setup (from hciconfig -a) :From this should be able to
work out what goes in hcid.conf
hci0: Type: USB
BD Address: 00:90:CC:ED:35:10 ACL MTU: 310:10 SCO MTU: 64:8

hcid.conf:

I'm running bluez 4.58 and pulseaudio 0.9.19 on a gentoo distro.
I know this should probably be raised as a bluez issue, but this is the only
place I could find the exact same issue, so I thought I would post here. Sorry!

Finally, could you let me know what headset you were using? I have a
pretty old HT820 motorola...

[Bug 479538] Re: Rhythmbox 0.12.0, current relese fo Ubuntu 9.0.4, doesn't download lyrics and covers

2009-11-16 Thread luciano
It doesn't work fine neither in 0.12.5 on Karmic, most of the covers are not
found even if tags (title/artist/album) are correclty filled, it takes just a
few seconds to find those covers on the net.
Lyrics are found but for several songs just enabling lyricwiki.org a very short
excerpt is downoladed from that site (lyricwiki.org always provides very short
excerpts), not enabling it you won't have any lyrics.
Try for instance this one: title>Bette Davis Eyes - artist>Kim Carnes -
Album>Mistaken Identity, you won't see any cover and just a very small excerpt
of its lyrics.
Those plugins need a serious fix.

[Bug 405294] Re: a2dp skips terribly in Karmic

2009-12-30 Thread Luciano
Another update on my previous post about bluez configuration. It turns
out that the key thing here are the settings in hcid.conf:

lp rswitch,hold,sniff,park;
lm accept,master;

and audio.conf:

AutoConnect=false;

this one to prevent both a2dp and headset profiles connecting at the
same time, when you turn it on.

Note that what I had previously set in audio.conf:
#Enable=Source,Control,Sink
#Disable=Headset,Gateway

is not a good idea. The 'Disable=Headset' removes the headset profile
form the available services on the headphones altogether. i.e. you can't
connect to 'headset' anymore. only a2dp.

Finally, if you want to have the headset profile work with pulseaudio
(for e.g. skype), you need to use blueman, and make sure the bluetooth
applet is enabled (in about -> plugins). The a2dp doesn't seem to need
this, but the headset profile does.

Hope that made sense ...

[Bug 1729674] Re: TB16 dock ethernet corrupts data with hw checksum silently failing

2018-02-27 Thread Luciano
Hi. I'm a user of another distro (gentoo), and found this bug while
googling for a problem I'm having. I'm using a realtek-based USB3 to
RJ45 gigabit adapter. This plugs directly into my laptop (not any sort
of hub as with the DELL hubs above), which is a Toshiba Radius
P20W-C-103, skylake based, with the following controller:

```
00:14.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP USB 3.0 xHCI
Controller (rev 21)
```

I am experiencing this on 4.9.79-r1, and also 4.14.22.

When I plug the device in, unless I disable power management on USB hubs
3 and 4, I get errors saying 'root hub lost power or was reset'.
However, if I disable PM using powertop, I get the device to work
seemingly well. But, as soon as I start heavy transfers (in my case
distributed compile), the network device stops responding

The error messages that I'm receiving are very similar to what is posted
above. This is the device coming up:

[Bug 279102] Re: Unreliable network connection with B44 driver

2008-11-30 Thread Luciano Barcellos
I'm using a Dell Vostro 1000 and the system doesn't even establish a
connection via wired interface. It tries to get an address from dhcp and at the
end it disconnects. It's not a hardware issue as it worked when I tested using
a live CD from another distribution.
The VGA is from ATI (VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS482
[Radeon Xpress 200]) and turning off compiz doesn't work as a workaround for
me. I use the free driver.

[Bug 120406] Re: The DejaVu Condensed fonts are not available for selection from the KDE fonts settings panel

2008-10-25 Thread Luciano Montanaro
What information do you need to investigate?
The DejaVu font has a condensed variant. You can check for this in gimp, for
example, although it is listed as
"DejaVu Sans Semi-Condensed" at this time.

You cannot select this font using the KDE font requester, though. You
can select DejaVu Sans, but then the available variants are only Light,
Light Oblique, Regular, Oblique, Bold and Bold Oblique.

This bug is still very much there, I'm reopening it.

I've tried to install the I-Ibex Alpha4 and I found a nasty problem during the

Wow!

Luciano: That is backports for Jaunty 9.04or just plain Ibex 8.10?
(I guess you need a 2.6.28 kernel anyway)

What it your chipset?
I wonder if my eee 901 with Intel GME 945 will benefit from this improvement
also.

Still 700FPS is less than half the 1500FPS this driver achieved in the "good
old TTM days", so I wonder how it is GEM an improvement or if there are
still many performance gains to come.

[Bug 252094] Re: MASTER: Poor graphics performance on Intel

2009-03-12 Thread Luciano Ziegler
ok ok ok... it is going to sound really weird... look what I did...

I was getting really bad fps on glxgears, around 150fps... I wasted all
day long trying to figure out how to fix it. I tried to install some new
driver... the intel 2.5 and the fps got even worst, around 70fps.

So I tried to compile a brand new kernel 2.6.28.7, no success, also add
the repository deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ubuntu jaunty
main and updated everything, no success neither...

when I was almost giving up, I tried to run the glxgears using: sudo
glxgears and I got:

3733 frames in 5.0 seconds = 746.500 FPS

Ok, it not perfect, but comparing with 150fps, it is awesome. So I
figured out that it could be a problem with the user. I went toe the
users settings clicked on my user -> properties -> user privileges tab
and I found a check box that says capture video from tv and webcam and
use 3d acceleration. It was unchecked, so I just checked, log off and
log on again, finally everything was working again. My screen savers, 3d
games, scroll down on the web browser... it was awesome...

My computer specifications are attached. I'm using linux mint 6, but I'm
pretty sure it is going to work on ubuntu too since both distributions
are the same thing.

[Bug 146828] Re: gdm uses incorrect screen resolution

2009-04-11 Thread Luciano Panepucci
I also had this issue after gutsy2hardy update with nvidia card. The gdm
login screen had a super high virtual resolution. I remember going
trough a lot of trouble getting the desktop resolution ok. Commenting
the virtual line in xorg did not work for me. What worked for me was
leaving just the resolution mode I use on the modes line, just as did
Mariano on comment #7 of the duplicate bug:

Forgot to mention something that I dont know if has anything to do with
the issue...

While trying to solve my gdm login resolution I considered using xrandr
as a pre-gdm-script but while testing it on the shell as described in

tried it.

[Bug 149783] Re: Strigi gets in the way of normal usage

2007-10-27 Thread Luciano Montanaro
Well, zypres, at least your comment made me find a work around that works for
me:
It's sufficient to open the web shortcuts preferences panel of Konqueror, and
select something different from strigi as the default shortcut.
I've put google there, as I think it is the KDE default.
Another option would be locate:.

I didn't remember there was a default shortcut setting in konqueror...

Still, this may be annoying to other people...

[Bug 113361] Re: Cannot switch language in Wesnoth

2007-05-10 Thread Luciano Montanaro
I fixed this problem (for the Italian language, obviously) by adding the
following line to the /usr/share/locale.alias file:

it_IT it_IT.UTF-8

Maybe something similar should be done for Spanish and any other
language that does not work. I'm not sure this is is the only (or the
best!) way to fix this problem.

[Bug 149783] Strigi gets in the way of normal usage

2007-10-06 Thread Luciano Montanaro
Public bug reported:

I'm using kubuntu gutsy currently.
When I type an incomplete URL, or I forget the ":" in a web shortcut,
konqueror ends up on a strigi window, that keeps reloading, so it is not
possible to retype the correct url, and the only option is to close the tab.

Actually, the window has part of a xml header

2007-10-06 Thread Luciano Montanaro
I did not try a fresh install, but currently, the exact same problems I
reported are present in the krita (Strato instead o Livelli).
Actually, the other localizaton bug is still there (Same shortcut in the logout
screen for "Sospendi" and "Spegni").
So either there are problems updating translations with with upgrades from
feisty to gutsy, or the messages have not been updated...
Or I have stale packages around, but I am not sure how to check.

2008-04-15 Thread Luciano Panepucci
Hello Richard,

After the distribution upgrade failed I restarted and there was a
notification of the problem and I clicked it. It then tried to continue
the upgrade but stopped at the same point. One detail I did not explain
in detail is that both the first and the second time what happened was
that the progress bar stopped and I waited a really long time before I
was sure it was a bug. THEN with the process bar stopped I clicked on
the terminal of the dist upgrade dialog and hit CRTL+C. After the CRTL+C
the dist-upgrade asked me if I wanted to report this bug to the
developers and thats how I got here.

ok. I have attached the files of /var/log/dist-upgrade
hope it helps!

HEllo,

Yes, as I described in my last comment. After waiting a really long time
(many hours) with the progress bar still stopped I pressed crtl+c. Only
then the process actually stoped and prompted me to report a bug.

Just to make myselt clear I mean I really waited many hours before pressing
crtl-c.
I tryed to finish the upgrede process agains but again had the exact same issue.

If perhaps there was some kind of "watcher" program that I could
iniciate before restarting the upgrade I could try it. Just give the
orientation.

thanks

[Bug 141269] Re: nautilus stoping responding then opening directory witch contains 1600 photos. After update 16 Sept.

2007-11-06 Thread Luciano Panepucci
I moved to gutsy making a fresh install and now I'am having a similar
issue that I do not remember having on Feisty:

When I open a directory with many files (700 pitctures in this case)
Nautilus grays out for 30 seconds while "Loading..." the contents.
However, in my case it comes back with the file list after those killer
seconds.

This gray out only seems to happen while on the LIST VIEW any other open
Nautilus windows gray out at the same time.

The backtrace I attached does not seem to help since Nautilus does not
really crash. It only hangs for a while.. If there's another way to get
a backtrace during the hang please tell me.

But nautilus does not crash. It only hangs for many seconds. I did not
find info on how to obtain a trace during the hang? Can you give me some
info on that?

It does not appear to be fixed, at least not quite.
I am un Hardy, and I updated this afternoon...

In KDE 3, starting "kcmshell fonts" I get two "corsivo" fonts which are
identical when selected. In KDE 4, when doing the same (I have not installed
the Italian localization for KDE 4), I get "Oblique" and "Italic", which have
different wheights. The "italic" version seems to be DejaVu Condensed.

However, DejaVu Condensed does not show in the Font: column, and "Condensed"
is not present between the available styles either.

[Bug 159927] The compose key stopped working in X11 in kubuntu hardy

2007-11-04 Thread Luciano Montanaro
Public bug reported:

In Kubuntu Hardy, since yesterday my keymap has stopped working as
usual.

I have set up KDE so that the right alt and caps keys act as a compose key,
with the kcontrol module.
This should be equivalent to giving this command:

setxkbmap -option compose:caps,compose:ralt

However, it looks like the compose keys are completely ignored at the
moment. This makes it impossible to input accented characters.

[Bug 159927] Re: The compose key stopped working in X11 in kubuntu hardy

2007-11-06 Thread Luciano Montanaro
The problem seems to be related to an out-of sync Qt3 update, since my KDE4
console, built from sources work correctly.
Instead, if I run a kde program from a terminal, I get this kind of output:

/usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/libqsimple.so: undefined symbol:
_ZN13QInputContext14x11FilterEventEP7QWidgetP7_XEvent
/usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/libqxim.so: undefined symbol:
_ZN13QInputContext11filterEventEPK6QEvent
/usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/libqscim.so: undefined symbol:
_ZNK13QInputContext4fontEv
/usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/libqimsw-multi.so: undefined symbol:
_ZN13QInputContext11sendIMEventEN6QEvent4TypeERK7QStringii

So it looks like the inputmethod plugins need to be rebuilt...

[Bug 174283] Re: rm does not preserve root by default

2007-12-06 Thread Luciano Montanaro
So, what's next? Patch dd to prevent it from wiping your partition?

There are infinite ways to wipe your root file system. There is little
value in adding a safety here, while a slight variation of the theme
would produce analogous damage.

[Bug 120406] Additional note

2007-06-14 Thread Luciano Montanaro
the font can be selected in gimp as DejaVu Semicondensed, but it can not

Gnome users may not notice this; but KDE users are likely to have access
to smaller selection of fonts.
