[Bug 289766] [NEW] Webcam always on (Intrepid Ibex)
Public bug reported: When I visit a website with Flash components and video streaming running like Ustream, it seems that something starts the webcam even if no one requires it. The webcam's power on led starts blinking and never goes off even if I close the browser and in general all the applications that could use the webcam. So I need to reboot the system. This issue didn't exist on Hardy Heyron, it pops up only on Intrepid Ibex (32bit). [Bug 110995] Re: Hard drive noise with applications
Hi Brian. I've installed Gutsy Gibbon and I'm using it. The problem is still present. When Ubuntu starts ,or when I launch an application like Firefox or OpenOffice, the hard drive start working an clicking pretty hard. As always, under Vista the hard disk is very silent instead. There's also the other problem. Sometimes (it happens apparently without any motivation) the hdd starts making a "click" every 4 seconds, even if I'm not using the notebook. It seems me that it happens not because the HDD is working, but because the arm of the read-and-write head doesn't go in the correct position. I've heard that many other people with a notebook and a SATA HDD have this problem too, especially the second one. If you need other informations, please ask me. If you think that it could be useful, I can make an audio registration of the hard disk drive under windows and under Ubuntu. Thank you very much. -- Hard drive noise with applications https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/110995 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 152451] Re: Drawer takes long time to appear when using Compiz
I can confirm what Travis has said. The drawer needs a second to show icons inside. I found a YouTube video that shows exactly this problem. It seems that it's an old unresolved bug. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APTAu4ZRd60 I use a standard Gutsy Gibbon installation with Compiz Fusion enabled. -- Drawer takes long time to appear when using Compiz https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152451 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 222989] [NEW] No control over sound volume
Public bug reported: I'm using a brand new installation of Hardy. The default Gnome Volume Control Applet preferences didn't work: it was set to Realtek ALC660 (OSS Mixer) but there were no real control over sound volume. So I changed preferences and I put "Playback: ALSA PCM on front:0" instead of Realtek ALC660 and now I can control the sound volume of the system. But now I have two issues: - each time I reboot the sound volume is resetted to max volume - I can control the sound volume of the OS through the applet, but it has no control over audio coming from webpages (like a YouTube video) I suppose that all this issues are coming from the new PulseAudio, cause I haven't anyone of them under Gutsy. I'm using an Asus PRO31Jm notebook. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- No control over sound volume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222989 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 164589] Re: Occasional screen-wide "blink" when using opengl apps (compiz also) and Nvidia cards
@ Tristan, Kraptor Thank you very much for these infos. Actually I have disabled Compiz because of these and other bugs (gnome freeze at startup, bad window positioning, shutdown problems) I have encountered. I'll try your tips as soon as possible. -- Occasional screen-wide "blink" when using opengl apps (compiz also) and Nvidia cards https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/164589 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 164589] Re: Occasional screen-wide "blink" when using compiz
I have a similar issue with my laptop Asus F3JM (15.4" WXGA, GeForce Go 7600, Compiz Extra enabled). It happens sometimes without warning. Maybe I've used the notebook for more than an hour and nothing has append and suddenly the monitor starts blinking. I noticed that it happens especially after I have launched OpenOffice. -- Occasional screen-wide "blink" when using compiz https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/164589 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 164589] Re: Occasional screen-wide "blink" when using compiz
I've just noticed that, when it happens (the screen starts blinking occasionally), video playback stop working correctly. For instance, I was watching a video with Miro and surfing the web at the same time. The screen started blinking suddenly for about two times in a minute. After that, Miro video playback stopped working correctly. I've just made a screenshot. p.s. [Bug 110995] Hard drive noise with applications
Public bug reported: I have this problem with my Asus PRO31Jm notebook (aka Asus F3JM). Every time I make an operation or I start an application for the first time I can hear a "loud" noise coming from the hard disk. For example, when I launch Firefox for the first time the hard drive start working an clicking pretty hard for a few seconds. Of course with other OSs the harddisk is completely silent (as it should be). This problem was here with Edgy Eft and is still here with Feisty Fawn. :( Is this problem also connected with the hard drive clicking bug? ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Hard drive noise with applications https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/110995 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
