[Bug 149303] Re: pidgin gabber gossip kopete konversation have divergent descriptions in KDE's k-menu
I cannot try with the "latest" ubuntu release for at least a few weeks. I will possibly be able to try sooner on the latest "gutsy" which is the most recent *working* version of ubuntu. Here is where the time allocated for that went during this last window of opportunity: 8.10 f*ked the harddrive (boot records) of a test machine consistently and it took a few days to find a way to safely move my work machine to 8.10. It's a multi-boot (OS X, Kubuntu, OpenBSD, Debian) that takes several hours to restore, mostly due to OS X. Additionally, exploring several bugs with 8.10 (thunderbird on 8.10 can't read existing profiles, KDE 4.1 is slow and useless) prevent using it on a daily basis or even for more than a demo. Since the bug reporting upstream in Debian is dependent upon e-mail an I am depended upon Tbird, this is a show-stopper for pursuing this bug. -- pidgin gabber gossip kopete konversation have divergent descriptions in KDE's k-menu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149303 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 237391] [NEW] ssh-keygen should default to dsa not rsa
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openssh-client Currently ssh-keygen generates RSA keys by default. It's probably time for these to be depreciated in favor of DSA keys. ** Affects: openssh (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- ssh-keygen should default to dsa not rsa https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/237391 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 237391] New connections not made that often
@Neal: That's a valid critique of debian's SSL implementation not related to DSA vs RSA. DSA is faster for signing and RSA is faster for verification. http://neubia.com/archives/000191.html ftp://ftp.rfc-editor.org/in-notes/rfc2536.txt http://home.pacbell.net/tpanero/crypto/dsa.html RSA is weaker than a DSA key of the same length, so to get the same effect, one must use a longer key. I'm not sure that the neubia link above takes that into account. So if the default stays as RSA, it might be an idea to increase the default RSA key length. These are signature algorithms anyway and only used at the beginning anyway. After the client and server authenticate, the rest is done with ciphers like Blowfish or IDEA. So for SSH it's not a problem to use DSA at all, new connections are not made that often. -- ssh-keygen should default to dsa not rsa https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/237391 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 122529] Re: Non-Thunderbird IMAP folders not visible to Thunderbird
I already have a work-around, that's not the issue. It's easy to use the normal IMAP account creation process to add a Gmail IMAP account. The problem described in the bug report is that the Account Creation Wizard has an option for Gmail, but that Gmail choice is specifically missing the ability to create an IMAP account. -- Non-Thunderbird IMAP folders not visible to Thunderbird https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/122529 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 191353] /usr/share/doc/openafs-client/README.modules
Ok. The short answer is that I must build a new kernel in order to use the AFS client. The package openafs-client should then say as much. The readme implies that there are binaries. For example, if you are running kernel 2.4.27-2-686-smp, you might try: apt-get install openafs-modules-2.4.27-2-686-smp" However, apt-cache shows only the source package so again it is actually necessary to build custom kernel: # apt-cache search openafs-modules openafs-modules-source - AFS distributed filesystem kernel module source So for the short-term work-around: build a new kernel. -- openafs-client missing dependent kernel module openafs.o https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191353 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 234372] [NEW] new KDE menu requires too complicated maneuvers and timing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kde4 The new KDE4 menu requires the both the pointer and the user's attention to zig and zag, rather than follow an arc or trajectory like the old menu. Perhaps most difficult are the delays and apparent variable timing. These combine to make it not possible to use the menu without undivided attention. The old menu was predictable enough that it can be used while looking elsewhere on the screen or partially looking away. If a 'new' look is of overriding importance, it should still take into account time/motion/mentalaction needed for each item. Attached is a view of the KDE 3.5 menu with a red line approximating the flow of movement. Backing up a menu level is as simple as reversing the direction of the mouse. With the proposed KDE4 menu, one must hover and click to move forward. Then, unfortunately, to move back on the propose KDE4, the action is not as simple as moving back the way mouse came, but maneuvering to the edge of the panel (a difficult target) and then clicking. It looks good, it just needs simplified workflow. ** Affects: meta-kde4 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- new KDE menu requires too complicated maneuvers and timing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/234372 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
