[Bug 115441] Re: [apport] displayconfig-restore.py crashed with ImportError in () when changing monitor settings

2007-05-18 Thread konrad
I had kde-guidance-powermanager deinstalled and not kde-guidance.

As I was using kpowermanger and really only need one powermanger, I thought I
could deinstall kde-guidance-powermanager.
Big mistake!

Shouldn't there be a dependencies?

2007-07-05 Thread konrad
Ok, this is what I did on my Samsung X20 (found
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=472650&highlight=suspend+samsung)

Add piix module to initial ram disk:

   sudo vi /etc/initramfs-tools/modules

add piix at the bottom

Save

Update the initrd image:

   sudo update-initramfs -u

Next check if if you have any sdaX devices in /etc/fstab, change them to hdaX.
I have none, using UUID.

Reboot and Enjoy like I do!!!

Okay, now I understand why I had these HUGE issues about the syncing. I
had quite a big data loss because of this. I suggest it would be very
polite to put a big warning in Tomboys sync config menu as well as on
the Ubuntu One page as long as this bug remains. This is something that
will move people away from Tomboy!

[Bug 1278223] Re: Mouse Flickering after adding 3rd Monitor

2018-10-29 Thread Konrad
same here, when monitor is plugged in I mouse coursor is flickering on
host display, additionally sometimes sites do not work correctly when on
screen 2, coursor is flickering too (but much less).

When I've tried to apply solution from #108 after the reboot the second
monitor was not detected at all, I had to revert back my settings.

[Bug 1634802] Re: Could not insert module

2016-11-04 Thread Konrad
I've found a hack that will enable nvidia module to insert into kernel:

Uncomment this line:
#PATCH[1]="buildfix_kernel_4.3.patch"

in file /usr/src/nvidia-304-304.132/dkms.conf
then sudo dpkg-reconfigure nvidia-304

In Ubuntu 16.04 it was uncommented, because there were some mtrr changes
in 4.3.0 kernel. This patch works for 4.8.0 kernel also.

Module works, but something is wrong with acceleration, because Unity is
not working. This should throw some light on it:

$ glxgears
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for
operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 155 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 3 (X_GLXCreateContext)
  Value in failed request: 0x0
Serial number of failed request: 30
Current serial number in output stream: 31

but running as sudo works

$ sudo glxgears
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh. The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.

[Bug 621265] Re: Slow Wireless Connection in Intel 3945abg

2010-12-31 Thread Konrad
I should report that I do not experience the bug you mention (on a
Thinkpad T60, with the intel device in question) after upgrading from
10.04 to 10.10 (maverick).

I tried several different WiFi-settings, different encryptions and never
experienced any slowdown at all.

My kernel is 2.6.35-24-generic and my wpa_supplicant is 0.6.10-2.
NetworkManager is used, and has version
0.8.1+git.20100810t184654.ab580f4-0ubuntu2

I hope this helps.

[Bug 979704] [NEW] mcabber couldn't connect to tmp keyring file

2012-04-12 Thread konrad
Public bug reported:

After updating to 12.04 beta I get the following error when starting
mcabber:

[11:07:43] Certificate is not trusted!
[11:07:43] Disconnected, reason: 3->'LM_DISCONNECT_REASON_ERROR'
WARNING: gnome-keyring:: couldn't connect to: /tmp/keyring-Jeqydj/pkcs11: No
such file or directory

After that nothing else happens and mcabber does not connect to the XMMP
server. There is a blog post reporting and showing a fix for the same
error on ArchLinux:

http://thedarksite.org/1316693161.htm

Maybe this gives a hint for a solution.

The init.rd won't find the root filesystem, because you removed the usb
stick and the device name for the usb harddrive is now /dev/sdb instead
of /dev/sdc. temp fix is pluggin in the usb stick again and then again
choose the harddrive as boot device. persistent fix is editing the
/boot/grub/grub.cfg file and replace the root=/dev/sdc parameter with
root=UUID=your_device_uuid.

2020-08-25 Thread Konrad
It affects Intel integrated GPUs too.

You can downgrade libmutter package temporarily as a workaround:

sudo apt install libmutter-6-0=3.36.1-3ubuntu3 gir1.2-mutter-6=3.36.1-3ubuntu3
sudo apt-mark hold libmutter-6-0

Remember to unhold after fix comes out!

[Bug 295212] Re: Hangs on "Starting Up"

2008-12-05 Thread Konrad Anton
Success story! I used to get only to the point where:

[20:20:25] Installing...
[20:20:25] Source CD: /home/konrad/Download/ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386.iso
[20:20:25] Destination disk: /dev/sdc1
[20:20:25] Persistence size: 6366 MB
[20:20:25] Marking partition 1 as active.
[20:20:25] installing the bootloader to /dev/sdc1.
[20:20:25] Forcing shutdown of the install process.

and nothing happened. It turned out (after some printf-debugging in
backend.py) that I had no 'mtools' installed. I installed mtools and
that problem was gone.

You can check if that is your problem by looking up the device of your
USB drive's single partition (e.g. /dev/sdc1) and trying the command

sudo syslinux /dev/sdc1 # if /dev/sdc1 is your USB stick's VFAT
partition, better check twice

If mtools are missing, syslinux will complain.

I doesn't know the criteria for such updates, but I think it has to be
fixed, since it is a LTS ubuntu release - and ubuntu do not want 5 years
with a bug in the openldap package!?! If I can help ( testing ) let me

[Bug 301174] Re: Annoying system beep plays instead of alert sound

2008-11-24 Thread Konrad Paumann
Yes, this beep is extremely loud. It's not only annoying, it really
hurts in ones ears. For example: When someone hears music over his
earbuds and Evolution finds a new mail the alert sound is triggerd and
produces an extremely loud beep direct into his ears ... really hurting,
annoying and shocking.

Is this maybe a problem with pulseaudio not controlling the pc speaker?

[Bug 372705] [NEW] nautilus doesn't update view after file/directory creation

2009-05-06 Thread Konrad Paumann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I see following behaviour on an up to date Jaunty.
When creating a file/directory with gedit, in the shell ("touch file"), or by
extracting a zipped file in that directory (right click on the zipped file -
choose "extract here") nautilus doesn't update its view.
I have to manually click on reload or open the directory in nautilus to see the
actual directory contents.
Also when I delete/move/copy files in the shell (in the directory that is open
in nautilus), nautilus doesn't update its view of the directory.

Expected behaviour would be that nautilus updates the view of the
directory when a file/directory is created/copied/moved/deleted in that
directory.

[Bug 293386] [NEW] scim-pinyin crashes when user data index gets corrupted

[Bug 183139] Re: [wishlist] make gtk laf default for icedtea-java

2008-10-19 Thread Konrad Twardowski
Hi,
Unfortunately the GTK+ LAF is NOT fully compatible with default Metal LAF,
and in some cases may cause major application problems (including crashes and
data lost).
Even the new Nimbus LAF (included in Java 6 Update 10) is not set as default to
preserve backward compatibility.

However, there are two good solutions:

* User/Package Maintainer can modify particular application shortcut to add
"-Dswing.defaultlaf=com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.GTKLookAndFeel" parameter.
Example command:
java -Dswing.defaultlaf=com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.GTKLookAndFeel -jar
application.jar

* Java Developers can set Look And Feel to:
UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName()
The getSystemLookAndFeelClassName() method
automatically returns
"com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.GTKLookAndFeel" (GTK+ LAF) on Linux/GNOME platform.

[Bug 283239] [NEW] objectclass filter bug in rwm overlay module of slapd 2.4.9

2008-10-14 Thread Konrad Mauz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: slapd

Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release:8.04

slapd 2.4.9-0ubuntu0.8.04.1

When using rwm to create a subset ob attributes the objectclass attribute is
filtered. Things like libnss-ldap and pam-ldap gets broken ( since they use a
search filter with (&(objectclass=posixAccount)) ). The bug is known and fixed
( in 2.4.12 ) upstream. The Openldap ITS Number is 5647 (
http://www.openldap.org/its/index.cgi/Software%20Bugs?id=5647;page=3 )
Is it possible to patch the bug?

1.) Configure libnss-ldap on a Linux Client to use LDAP as NSS Source
for group, passwd and shadow

2.) On the server try this config:

-- start --
databaseldap
suffix "dc=example,dc=org"
uri "ldap://realldapserver.example.org";
overlay rwm
rwm-rewriteEngine on
rwm-normalize-mapped-attrs yes

rwm-map attribute cn *
rwm-map attribute uid *
rwm-map attribute uidnumber *
rwm-map attribute loginshell *
rwm-map attribute gidnumber *
rwm-map attribute userpassword *
rwm-map attribute gecos *
rwm-map attribute shadowlastchange *
rwm-map attribute shadowexpire *
rwm-map attribute homedirectory *
rwm-map attribute shadowMin *
rwm-map attribute shadowMax *
rwm-map attribute shadowWarning *
rwm-map attribute shadowInactive *
rwm-map attribute shadowFlag *
rwm-map attribute memberUid *
rwm-map attribute uniqueMember *
rwm-map attribute description *
rwm-map attribute sn *
rwm-map attribute givenname *
rwm-map attribute mail *
rwm-map attribute *
-- end --

all other attributes are hidden ( objectclass attribute inclusive
;-(( ).

The nss ldap client is now unable to find a user since the ldap
filter (&(uid=xyz)(objectclass=posixaccount)) allways returns null
entries.

If you comment out the last line ( rwm-map attribute * ) then
everything works OK, but all attributes are delivered to the
client! We have more attributes on the "realldapserver" but we only
want to provide the attributes needed for nss.

I have compiled the version 2.4.12 from source and the bug is gone. So I
think it would be nice to backport the patch which is in 2.4.12 to 2.4.9
( Ubuntu Version ) or to update the openldap package to 2.4.12.

Konrad

[Bug 249107] [NEW] Nautilus columns act strange on click and drag (resize) on the column titles

2008-07-16 Thread Konrad Kleine
Public bug reported:

Just open nautilus and resize the columns.

They simply don't do what I expect them to do.

A behaviour like in OpenOffice Calc would be nice for instance: A
movement of the column's title border leads to a resize event. But
nevertheless the border I click on is moved in OpenOffice Calc.

In some cases nautilus works as expected, but the leftmost column cannot
be made smaller by dragging it's right border to the left (see the
video).

Maby this is also a general GTK problem because Rhythmbox behaves the
same as nautilus when trying to resize the "Artist" column.
