[Bug 246141] Re: no support for realtek rtl8187se

2009-04-30 Thread Kiran Jonnalagadda
Jostein: I left my machine powered off for about an hour, tried again,
and now it's working. Guess that fixes it for me.

However, it seems like multicast is still not supported with this
driver, because Avahi's mdns-scan still can't find any services not
running on localhost.

[Bug 246141] Re: no support for realtek rtl8187se

2009-04-29 Thread Kiran Jonnalagadda
Just upgraded to Jaunty. It doesn't work for me. :(

dmesg indicates that the card has been detected and drivers have been
loaded successfully, but I can neither see the WPA2 Personal network
that I have here, nor connect to it by name. This was working until the
upgrade; three other machines here continue to work with that network.

Running `sudo iwlist wlan0 scan` returns immediately with no results.

[Bug 283563] [NEW] Can't access gmail labels from epiphany

2008-10-14 Thread Kiran Jonnalagadda
Public bug reported:

Under Intrepid Ibex with epiphany-gecko 2.24.0.1 and gecko-1.9, I can't
open any labels in Gmail. Attaching a screenshot of the error I get.

This only happens for labels. I can open the top level folders such as
Inbox/Spam/Trash without issues.

Gmail displays "Oops... the system encountered a problem (#102)".

Sorry, should have clarified that. Gmail works in Firefox without
issues.

I've tried enabling and disabling the Greasemonkey extension for
Epiphany but that made no difference (I don't have any GM scripts
installed anyway).

[Bug 285759] [NEW] OpenOffice.org 3.0 slow at redrawing UI elements

2008-10-18 Thread Kiran Jonnalagadda
Public bug reported:

I'm running Intrepid with the OpenOffice 3.0 packages from ~openoffice-
pkgs ppa.

While OOo 3.0 in general has similar performance characteristics to OOo
2.4, I've found that all UI elements, including menus and toolbar
buttons, flicker on refresh, such as when hovering over them. (However,
they do not flicker on subsequent refresh, such as when I move the
cursor away and back over again.)

Form-based windows, such as at Tools ->Options, take up to a second to
draw all widgets in the window. I've even managed to take a screenshot
while the form was drawing.

[Bug 285759] Re: OpenOffice.org 3.0 slow at redrawing UI elements

2008-10-19 Thread Kiran Jonnalagadda
There's nothing in my xorg.conf, but this is an Intel 945 GME chipset,
so I guess the intel driver.

FWIW, the hardware is an MSI Wind U100 laptop with 1024x600 resolution
display and 1.6 GHz Atom processor. OOo 3.0 is unusually slow relative
to the rest of the system.

[Bug 285759] Re: OpenOffice.org 3.0 slow at redrawing UI elements

2008-10-20 Thread Kiran Jonnalagadda
Just tried -- makes no difference, even after restarting OOo. In any
case, the 1s redraw time I mentioned may be exaggerated. It's a split
second, but long enough to notice and certainly long enough to capture
mid drawing.

I suspect the video driver is misconfigured, since I only get ~500fps in
glxgears with or without Compiz. This may be related to the new
automatically configuring xorg Intrepid is shipping with.

Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex pre-release, fully updated as of today (Oct 13).

All animations for new windows have been disabled, but problem persists.
Problem does not manifest for windows restored from minimise. It is only
seen with newly mapped windows.

[Bug 282631] [NEW] Compiz draws garbage on screen before opening window

2008-10-13 Thread Kiran Jonnalagadda
Public bug reported:

When opening new maximised windows with Compiz, they momentarily display
garbage (<1s) before the window refreshes. This only happens with large
windows. Menus, et al display fine.

The garbage always consists of diagonal lines, suggesting Compiz is
rendering from a buffer previously used for another window before the
current window has rendered.

I've attached a screenshot (captured with the PrtScr key after several
attempts).

[Bug 246141] Re: no support for realtek rtl8187se

2008-10-10 Thread Kiran Jonnalagadda
I followed the instructions from mangouste06 and niclone above and now
have functional wireless on an MSI Wind U100 with an rtl8187se / 8199. I
am able to join WPA networks.

However, nm-applet doesn't detect the wireless being turned off and
sometimes tries to connect to networks it is no longer in the range of
(after suspend and resume). Overall, works fairly well.

[Bug 201759] [NEW] Virtual interfaces don't auto-restart

2008-03-13 Thread Kiran Jonnalagadda
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ifupdown

Scenario:

1. I have a virtual interface eth0:0 configured to a static IP, with eth0
itself on DHCP.
2. I unplug the cable.
3. eth0:0 now disappears from ifconfig's list, while eth0 loses its IP address.
4. I plug in the cable again.
5. eth0 gets an IP again over DHCP. eth0:0 is not restored. That is a bug.

This is on Feisty 7.04.
