[Bug 321337] Re: "Name" field in 'gimp.desktop' is not translated to any language
I downloaded the source package, the "03_gimp.desktop.in.in.patch" changes the 'Name' entry of the desktop file to "GIMP Image Editor", but the upstream translation catalogs don't have that string, only in launchpad translations. I'm not sure how this should be handled, but I think if we are going to change upstream sources this way, then we should be using launchpad translations at build time too, not just languages packs. It is not acceptable in many languages, especially those who use a totally different writing system like Arabic, to have English menu entries, it also gives a false impression that GIMP isn't translated, which affects the overall user experience. -- "Name" field in 'gimp.desktop' is not translated to any language https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/321337 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 321337] Re: "Name" field in 'gimp.desktop' is not translated to any language
Sorry, but you don't seem to get it. '.desktop' files are a special case, they don't pick translations from '.mo' files, the 'gimp.desktop' file is generated from 'gimp.desktop.in' by 'intltool-merge' picking the translations from the PO files in the source tree. Since Ubuntu modified the English string in the PO file, if the PO files modified in launchpad isn't there, then it'll not pick the translation and we will end with English only '.desktop' file and subsequently unlocalised menu entry. So either don't change the already translated upstream file, or fix the localisation of the changed one. ** Changed in: gimp (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Incomplete -- "Name" field in 'gimp.desktop' is not translated to any language https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/321337 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 371257]
BTW, I fixed this before seeing this bugzilla bug, this issue have annoyed me since the first time I first used OOo and I think there are tens of bug reports about this in OOo bug tracker, all ignored. The issue is GTK specific; in RTL mode GTK mirrors most of its widget, but OOo/LO (who is directly using low level GTK APIs to draw the widgets itself) does not take into account this mirroring which results in this mismatch. The aforementioned commits fix all the three widget I've noticed (combo box, combo box entry and spin button). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/371257 Title: [upstream] Truncated elements in dialog he_IL To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/371257/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 827695]
I had a cursory look at Math while ago, and my impression is that it is a hopeless case, it has to be rewritten from scratch (at least the math renderer) if any sane math rendering is to be achieved. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/827695 Title: [Upstream] bug in displaying scalable square brackets in math object To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/827695/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 625199] [NEW] Use gettext plural forms
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity Unity has the following string "%d items", which assumes all languages has simple plural forms which is not true, it should be properly handled using gettext plural formula, see http://www.gnu.org/software/hello/manual/gettext/Plural-forms.html for more details. ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Use gettext plural forms https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/625199 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 625199] Re: Use gettext plural forms
I don't know Vala, but if the gettext use is the same as in C (as I read somewhere), then the attached patch should address this issue. Unfortunately, I don't have enough up to date build environment to test it, but xgettext seems to extract plural forms properly. ** Patch added: "ngettext patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/625199/+attachment/1522730/+files/unity_ngettext.diff -- Use gettext plural forms https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/625199 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
