[Bug 70102] Re: Toshiba Satellite A70 always reports lid as closed
I have a A70 and I have the same problem. I am running Hardy 8.04.1. cat /proc/acip/button/lid/*/* reports lid closed always whether depressed or not. Will try Intrepid when I have a chance. [Bug 376953] Re: Apostrophes are not printed when using font 'Gentium'
I just discovered this bug today. I am using ooo 3.0.1 on Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS. I have the same bug with Gentium font. (Pair kerning on) I am printing with CUPS 1.3.7. My printer is a Kyocera FS-C5015N. I was a bit surprised to see the apostrophe missing (especially as it was a French document!) OOO > Kyocera FS-C5015N - no apostrophe FAIL OOO > PDF and PS - OK PDF (KPDF) > Kyocera FS-C5015N - OK PDF (Acrobat) > Kyocera FS-C5015N - OK OOO > HP LaserJet 1015 - OK It seems the OOO to Kyocera fails. I strongly suspect a problem with the filter as the Kyocera is a PDL printer. Perhaps a bug in PS to PDL? Hope this helps. [Bug 64806] LTSP problem with KDM
Public bug reported: I have a Dapper Kubuntu installation upgraded from Breezy. I have LTSP 4.2 installed direct from LTSP.org not via Kubuntu packages as I have been running it here for a long time. Since upgrade to Dapper had many problems with KDM. Some fixed but still a terrible memory leak. Also when a user logs off a remote terminal the local machine (my desktop) switches to the boot splash screen. Alt-F7 returns to my desktop. This is rather annoying and new behaviour for me. Andres Mujica reports same behaviour on Bug #47455. ** Affects: ltsp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- LTSP problem with KDM https://launchpad.net/bugs/64806 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 47455] Re: KDM detected memory corruption
I have had this problem for some time: I upgraded from Breezy to Dapper KDE wouldn't work at all! That turned out to be a problem with the Indic, Thai and other Asian fonts that had been installed along the way in the upgrade. Removing them caused KDM to behave itself. I had the user face problem etc. Anyway I deleted the .face files and that went away. The memory corruption report has remained. Still the memory corruption lines kept appearing in the log. Eventually I went to the Kcontrol panel and changed the KDM fonts from "Sans Serif" to "Bitstream Vera Sans". Behold no more memory corruption problems!!! Logs have been clear for a day. I also had a terrible memory leak in X too. That seems to be gone. My suggestion is that there is a certain intolerance in KDM towards some fonts... Also other users work on my machine via LTSP. When they log off X disappears and I am left looking at the left over bootsplash screen CTRL + ALT + F7 returns to normal but this is a pain. -- KDM detected memory corruption https://launchpad.net/bugs/47455 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 365601] Re: KDE spell checking is broken (at least the German one)
I have this problem too. Just upgraded to Jaunty from Hardy. Migrated from kde3.5 to 4.2 and now 4.3. If I reply to a mail my checker checks in Dutch. (I am in Belgium so I have Dutch, English and French). New mails are in Dutch. (My default is English.) It happens almost all the time. Occasionally not. This is frustrating. Four months is a long wait! Is there a work around? I think I have a workaround. I tried sudo ispellconfig and set the default language to English. Then restarted Kontact. It seems to be fine now.
