[Bug 232372] [NEW] scrollbar fix in kde does not work properly

2008-05-20 Thread karl
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kcontrol

The Scrollbar fix for Firefox in Systemsettings->Appearence->GTK
Styles&Fonts->[~] is not working correctly. Although the Scrollbar is
now displayed correctly when scrolling with the mousewheel or by
dragging the slider the left vertical line/border of the slider stays
put in place (and the slider has no left border while moved). When
dragging, that line is redrawn after releasing the mousebutton, when
scrolling by mousewheel the slider has no left border untill the pointer
is moved into the area of the slider.

I hope I could express the circumstance as clearly as necessary

[Bug 192785] Re: needs option to start minimized

2008-05-21 Thread karl
Pidgin should remember whether it quits minimized or maximized. In the
pidgin-forum it is assumed that it is because shutting down causes
Pidgin to maximize the buddy-window before shutdown. But that's not the
issue I think, because when quitting the app via rightclick on
systrayicon Pidgin maximizes the buddywindow as well but remembers
minimized status at application-restart.

I have Pidgin running as part of the KDE-Session

[Bug 110784] Re: Toshiba laptop battery is drained while shut down

2009-04-01 Thread karl
I have the same problem on Toshiba NB100 running Ubuntu remix hardy. The
battery drains while the netbook is completely shut down. It takes
around 5 days for the battery to be flat while shutdown.

So how to I run the patch posted by renato. I am new to linux so excuse
my ignorance about these matters.

It is annoying and carrying around a loose battery is not fun at all.

thank you for all your help.

[Bug 55032] Program-Section completely empty

2006-08-03 Thread karl
Public bug reported:

I installed dapper from original cd-rom and actualized. To my surprise
Icewm was listed in the "session"-menu of gdm: I could run it, but the
section "Program", where Debian-Menu is shown (and which is not
configurable through the files "menu" or "program") was completely
empty. I searched for this bug and tried
http://www.iki.fi/karvinen/icewm.html mentioned in bug-report #3010. I
went to install "menu" - Synaptic told: no IceWM installed... ?! I
installed IceWM, icewm-gnome-support and menu via Synaptic. Next start
IceWM had some more entrys in the menu: the gnome and kde menu, but
section where complete debian-program-tree is normally shown was still
empty. (This bug did not occure when I once debootstraped my system.)

[Bug 89072] Re: Totem-mozilla doesn't request codecs

2007-10-21 Thread Karl
When I go to:
http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/GiantPandas/default.cfm?cam=PC4, or
any of the other panda cam links there, Totem will open the first screen
of the clip, but it does not continue; it simply stops on first frame.

[Bug 161122] Re: nm_applet prompts for password on startup

2007-11-18 Thread Karl
I'm the bloke who posted this bug, and it's now stopped happening, so
either an update worked, or some of my fiddling around did.

Here's what I think I did, but it's very possible that step 4 was all I
needed to do, so maybe just try that first.

One slight warning - doing this I've lost all the details about my wifi
connection - signal strength etc. from the top right of the menu. I'm
sure there are things I can download to give me that information, but
it's not important to me so I haven't bothered.

1. Switched back to putting in my password and login at boot (ie went into
System/Administration/Login window Security tab and I turned off enable
automatic login and rebooted), then made sure all my updates were up to date in
System/Administration/Update Manager).
2. In System/Administration/Network I went into the wireless connection and
turned off "Enable Roaming Mode" and put in my wireless details - WEP key, SSID
etc.
3. Rebooted and made sure wifi was still working.
4. Went back into System/Administration/Login window Security tab, turned back
on enable automatic login, and clicked off the checkbox that says "Deny TCP
connections to X-Server"

Next time I booted it went straight in without prompting for anything.

Hope this helps anyone else in the same boat.

Karl.

Small update - I just clicked "Deny TCP connections to X-Server" back on

is needed.

[Bug 121641] strange screen behaviour - changes size

2007-06-21 Thread karl
Public bug reported:

I cannot reproduce the bug willingly. I try to describe.

Ubuntu is 7.04 amd64. Graphics Card is ATI X300. Bug occurs with vesa and ati
driver. Sometimes at bootup, screen stay black. Keyboard is not working.
Softoff is not working. But GDM plays login-sound. After starting KDE sometimes
immediately, sometimes after a while, screen changes size (it is smaller then
and does not fit into monitor size) Also in the console then (1-6). But when
restarting X-Server, GDM shows normal screen size. When starting KDE, screen is
small again. After a while, it changes back into original size. Sometimes it
"tries" to change back, but does not success - it takes several "tries" till
succeeding. I recognize the "tries" because the monitor "clicks". (I hope you
understand - my english is not the best, see). When success,
console-screen-size is also okay again.
Also the screensaver sometimes hangs. When activated, screen goes dark instead
of showing selected screensaver - and no reaction to keyboard or soft-off.

Please tell me, when any additional information is needed.
