[Bug 288066] Re: fast-user-switch-applet does only start new VT after second try

2008-11-19 Thread Juho Leppämäki
I'm having this same problem since I upgraded from Hardy to Intrepid
release candidate a day before final release.

The difference compared Elias' case is that when this starts to happen
for me, it repeats until X is restarted. It's impossible to switch user
without logging the user out. This seems to repeat almost every time
when I'm trying to switch user. I've tried Nvidia binary driver versions
96 and 173 from the repo and problem repeats for both.

[Bug 121165] Re: /dev/.initramfs/progress_state is corrupted at shutdown

2007-07-13 Thread Juho Leppämäki
I'm having the same problem in one of my two Feisty computers.
Progress_state gets corrupted sometimes, about on every fifth shutdown.
The problem appeared a few weeks ago.

The problem appears in amd64 Feisty.

Yes, my both swap partitions are used twice in my amd64, once directly
and once via /dev/mapper. This is also the case for my i386. I'll have
to try uninstalling evms to see if it solves the case...

[Bug 1074823] [NEW] [HP-Compaq-2510p] Brightness control FN-hotkeys have no effect

2012-11-04 Thread Juho Leppämäki
Public bug reported:

In HP Compaq 2510p laptop the FN-hotkeys for brightness control have no
effect.

FN+f9 is supposed to decrease brightness, but the brightness does not change.
No message is displayed on screen.
FN+f10 is supposed to increase brightness, but the brightness does not change.
No message is displayed on screen.
FN+f11 is supposed to turn light sensor (HP hardware lfor automatic brightness)
on/off, but the light sensor does not activate. A message symbol similar to
turning touchpad off is displayed on the screen (but touchpad state does not
change).

Brightness can be controlled from system settings / brightness and lock.
Also brightness is changed during idle or power adapter plugged or
unplugged.

[Bug 1074823] Re: [HP-Compaq-2510p] Brightness control FN-hotkeys have no effect

2012-11-04 Thread Juho Leppämäki
I tested 12.10 with v3.7-rc3-raring kernel and the FN+f9 and FN+f10
started to work even though no notification of brightness control was
shown on the screen. FN+f11 still did not work.

The v3.7-rc3-raring kernel in 12.10 did not function properly what comes
to display resolution and graphics performance in Unity. Maybe the
display driver failed to initialize...

[Bug 1074823] Re: [HP Compaq 2510p] Brightness control FN-hotkeys have no effect

2012-11-05 Thread Juho Leppämäki
When the linux-image-extra package was omitted, the brightness control
works with v3.7-rc3-raring, but when linux-image-extra was included the
brightness control did not work with v3.7-rc3-raring. I suspect that
when the linux-image-extra package is missing the display driver does
not actually work and the brightness control uses some other magic
(maybe BIOS?).

With v3.7-rc4-raring the brightness control works with linux-image-extra
package being installed. Thus it seems the bug was fixed in between
v3.7-rc3-raring and v3.7-rc4-raring.

I did not install any linux-headers packages in any case when I tried
mainline kernel builds.
