[Bug 531190] Re: upower (devkit-power) reporting bad data when AC cable is unplugged

2012-03-04 Thread Jorge Antonio Dias Romero
Good news, folks. I just installed Precise Beta 1 and the bug seems to be
fixed. As commented before, probably was a kernel-related issue. So, since -
apparently - is not necessary install Precise, would be nice if we get more
people testing this to see if this bug is still occurs in the new kernel.
PS: I think that's not necessary install Precise in HDD to test this, because -
at least in my case - the bug didn't appear in the boot from USB too.

[Bug 947482] [NEW] Precise GRUB create several entries of previous versions after installed

2012-03-05 Thread Jorge Antonio Dias Romero
Public bug reported:

I had the following partitions in my HDD

/dev/sda1 -> Windows
/dev/sda5 -> Oneiric
/dev/sda6 -> Swap

I resize (shrink) the windows partition with Gparted and installed
Precise Beta in a new partition /dev/sda3 (see fdisk -l attached).

After the installation of Precise, the GRUB loads and works normally,
but several entries appears. I attached a screenshot of the grub screen.

I have only 3 systems, but the Grub screen have 4 entries for "Ubuntu,
with Linux with 3.0.0.X" : 3.0.0.16-generic, 3.0.0.15-generic,
3.0.0.14-generic and 3.0.0.12-generic). All them opens Oneiric (see
atacched screenshot for better understanding)

I tried run the command update-grub, but nothing change.

-What you expected to happen

I expect to have one entry for each system.

-What actually happened

After Precise installation, several entries appeared, all them related
with the Ubuntu Linux 3.0.0.X.

[Bug 947643] [NEW] In Precise, Pidgin creates a second icon in the launcher when opened by dash or HUD

2012-03-05 Thread Jorge Antonio Dias Romero
Public bug reported:

When you have Pidgin kept in the launcher and opens it using the Dash ou
HUD, it creates a new icon in the Launcher, instead of using the
existing icon.

When you click in the icon that's not "active" (the icon that's dont
have the little white arrow in this side), both icons blinks, like if
they are "connected" one with each other.

I am using unity-2d, and cannot say if it happens in unity-3d.

However, i tested in Oneiric Ocelot (also in unity-2d) and the described
behavior don't occurs .

In Precise, I tested with other programs and this error seems to happen
only with pidgin, so, apparently is not a issue with unity-2d as a whole
(at least not in the several programs that i tested).

-What you expected to happen

When opened by the dash or HUD, Pidgin should use the icon that's kept
in the launcher, like all the other programs.

-What actually happened

Pidgin creates a new icon in the launcher.

-Steps to reproduce

1. Make sure you have Pidgin kept in your launcher (if don't, open it, right
click in the icon and select "keep in laucnher").
2. Open the dash, search for Pidgin and run it.
2.1. The bug also occurs if you run Pidgin from the HUD.
3. Pidgin will ignore the existing icon in the launcher and create a second
icon. But the first icon also opens the same instance of Pidgin.

PS.: Sometimes, when you click in the launcher icon, a second icon pops up for
a while, but disappears (in most cases when the connection is finished and the
buddy list charge is completed). This behaviour seems to not occurs with
Oneiric too.

[Bug 947482] Re: Precise GRUB create several entries of previous versions after installed

2012-03-05 Thread Jorge Antonio Dias Romero
Thanks Phillip. After a deeper research, i found that grub creates, by
default, entries for all older kernel images , so it's really not a bug.
It's the normal behaviour of grub.

To keep the Grub screen less "polluted" i used a program called "grub-
customizer", to remove some entries, following this tutorial:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1664134. This tip, may be
useful for those who want remove some entries from the initial screen
without delete the kernel images.

[Bug 948078] [NEW] Duplicate entries for KOrganizer in Sofware Center

2012-03-06 Thread Jorge Antonio Dias Romero
Public bug reported:

I searched for a organizer in software center, and the entries for the
software KOrganizer are duplicated.

I attached a screenshot that shows that, after click in Install, the
progress bar appears for both entries.

Although it's not a major issue, took a while to realize that the
entries are duplicated. The duplicated progress bar may be misleading
for non-techical users, who can think that are two installations going
on.

[Bug 947643] Re: In Precise, Pidgin creates a second icon in the launcher when opened by dash or HUD

2012-03-09 Thread Jorge Antonio Dias Romero
Hi Ronny. Just installed all the available updates, the described error
was solved, but only after I remove the icon and put it again in the
launcher.

But another little issue happens. When the Pidgin windows is open and
you click in the close button, pidgin, don't close, it minimizes, but
the icon in the launcher don't have the the left small arrow indicating
the program still running. When you click, the same instance of the
program appears (if you check, will see the process still running)

I think it should really close, or at least have the arrow in the icon
indicating the program still running.

If you click the minimize button, it's don't happen: pidgin minimize,
but the icon in the launcher have the small arrow on it.

It's happen with you? If yes, i think perhaps is the case of file a
another bug report for the new issue.

Anyway, after the upgrade this bug it's solved, I think we can mark as
fix released, since the updates solved it for both of us.

2012-03-10 Thread Jorge Antonio Dias Romero
Ronny, I tested in Oneiric too and the "issue" describe in comment #4
really is the normal behaviour of program. I was insecure if it could be
a bug, that's why I asked for a second opinion. Thanks!

[Bug 948078] Re: Duplicate entries for KOrganizer in Sofware Center

2012-03-10 Thread Jorge Antonio Dias Romero
Following the Kiwinote tip, I realize that Kleopatra also have a
duplicate.

I compared korganizer:kde4__korganizer.desktop and korganizer
:kde4__korganizer-import.desktop files and saw that the files are almost
the same, the only relevant difference is in the "Exec" line

The Exec line for korganizer:kde4__korganizer.desktop is "Exec=korganizer %U"
But the Exec line for korganizer:kde4__korganizer-import.desktop is
"Exec=korganizer --import %U"

The file korganizer:kde4__korganizer-import.desktop is marked with
"NoDisplay=true", so, it's not intented to appear to end-user.

The same thing happens with kleopatra:kde4__kleopatra.desktop and
kleopatra:kde4__kleopatra_import.desktop.

I tried mark the import files with "Hidden=true", but did'nt work (they
still appeared on software center.)

The .desktop file specifications (availabe in
http://standards.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/latest/ar01s05.html)
says that mark the file as Hidden "[i]t's strictly equivalent to the
.desktop file not existing at all, as far as that user is concerned".

Considering all this, i think it's completely safe just remove
korganizer:kde4__korganizer-import.desktop and
kleopatra:kde4__kleopatra_import.desktop from app-install-data-ubuntu.

I tested this solution with no issues, and the bug was fixed for me with
the attached patch.
