[Bug 226079] Re: software-properties-gtk crashed with NameError in add_key_clicked()

2009-05-05 Thread Jonas Eberle
Does not crash in Jaunty-updates as of Mai 05, but ouputs

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File
"/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/softwareproperties/gtk/SoftwarePropertiesGtk.py",
 line 761, in add_key_clicked
error(self.window_main,
NameError: global name 'error' is not defined

No key downloaded. Its a minor one I would say, as it does not crash.

[Bug 224597] Re: evince does not display PDF - evince-gtk fixes it

2008-04-30 Thread Jonas Eberle
Thanks for that hint.
I am not using Visual Effects.

When switching back to evince for examination I had a ~100 errors
similar to this:

/var/lib/scrollkeeper/cs/scrollkeeper_cl.xml:469: parser error :
Premature end of data in tag ScrollKeeperContentsList line 2

all included the file above or scrollkeeper_extended_cl.xml

So I decided to do a " sudo dpkg-reconfigure scrollkeeper " which brought up

[Bug 222030] [NEW] Dist-Upgrade has free space problems

2008-04-25 Thread Jonas Eberle
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

During upgrade from 7.10 » 8.04, the update manager aborted:

The upgrade needs a total of 961M free space on disk '/'. Please free at
least an additional 422M of disk space on '/'.

I freed the space, started again, and got the same error, this time
demanding for 1400MB of space. I managed to free the space by deleting
gimp, openoffice and eclipse - then I ran the update-manager again. It
then stated:

The upgrade needs a total of 2000M free space on disk '/'. Please free
at least an additional 422M of disk space on '/'.

This is ridiculous... (or is it because I freed space by deleting
programs in ubuntu-desktop that have to be reinstalled and thus needing
the space?)

This differs from "sudo do-release-upgrade" which says: The upgrade needs a
total of 1581M free space
on disk '/'. Please free at least an additional 7419k of disk space
on '/'.

I am installing via "do-release-upgrade" at the moment, but this might
be bug in the update-manager.

If you need more information, please step up. /var/log/messages | syslog does
not contain an entry from this error. Any
update-manager: v0.81.3

[Bug 224597] [NEW] evince does not display PDF - evince-gtk fixes it

2008-04-30 Thread Jonas Eberle
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

evince is standard-installed by ubuntu-desktop.

With this configuration, my system does not display any PDFs
(application loads properly, correct page amount is showed, but grey
background on all pages).

Replacing evince with evince-gtk fixes the problem.

Configuration:
- driver: intel
- graphics: Intel 915GM
- monitor setup: occurs in LCD+VGA and LCD only (virtual screen size 2048x2048,
xrandr-controlled)

[Bug 150193] Re: Remote Login via XDMCP is not working in Ubuntu Gusty/7.10

2007-11-08 Thread Jonas Eberle
Yes, it is working like that!

I can leave all other options in gdm.conf untouched or change them, it is
always the same:
Gutsy`s GDM will not connect to Gutsy.

But if I change to a console, I can start the XServer manually like Gustavo
Rahal proposed and it ALWAYS works for me:
X :1 -query

This bug seems to affect the graphical front-end only.

2007-10-31 Thread Jonas Eberle
I have the same bug. Gutsy (GDM) tries to XDMCP to Gutsy. See the relevant
/var/log/syslog messages on the client side attached. The server side does not
log anything to /var/log/syslog. Changing to "simple" ("einfach" in german)
interface has no effect. BTW, I use the "fglrx" driver.
This is a bad thing, graphical remote login is an essential feature on Linux
desktops. I would like to help out if I can do anything.

[Bug 990562] Re: Laptop FN Sound Keys don't update mixer volume

2012-05-16 Thread Jonas Eberle
Same here on Thinkpad L420. OnScreenDisplay is shown and the slider/mute
in it reacts nicely, but it does obviously not change any actual channel
volume. I checked all available channels in xfce4-mixer, alsamixer and
pavucontrol.

Commands like 'amixer set Master 5%-' I tried to bind to the vol+/- and
mute keys with xfce4-keyboard-settings get not called. Are the keys
exclusively taken by the program that controls the OSD?

This is also Xubuntu 12.04 with pulseaudio (fresh install).

Hi David,

package and version:
libnux-0.9-0: 0.9.36-0ubuntu1

I was not using nux explicitely, so I do not know which programs could
be accessing it while whese bugs happen.

I hope I understood qur question correctly.

Sorry to say that these bugs happen on so different occasions with
different programs open and that I cannot provide steps to replicate it.
Anyhow, I will closely monitor it. I needed to switch away from compiz
to metacity to get some work done. I realized better stability already
without unity (Gnome Classic). Whenever possible, I will boot unity to
provide more info or if this disappeared with updates.

[Bug 742440] [NEW] compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in std::_List_node_base::_M_hook()

2011-03-25 Thread Jonas Eberle
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

Compiz (or parts of it) stop working on different occasions that are not
fully reproducable to me. I was not able to provoke it on a freshly
started session, it happens after 20 minutes or more.

Symptoms:
It can be that just the decorator on the second screen is removed, or also on
the first. In this case the unity-panel is affected by not showing menu and
window close/min/normal buttons. New windows don't get decorated.
It can get as far as not being able to select windows/widgets any more.
Most extrem is when the mouse is catched.

On one occasion I was not able to CTRL+ALT+F1 out of it.

Tried solutions:
I did not find a solution yet. "compiz-decorator --replace",
"unity-window-decorator --replace", "compiz --replace", "metacity --replace",
"killall compiz" (no reaction by the process at all) did not help.
The only thing that helps is "killall gnome-session" - which loses all session
data.

Nota bene: I am on a multi-monitor-system, with 2 monitors above/below
each other. Unity injects a panel on both monitors (which is really
nice).

[Bug 727594] Re: SRU: [i915gm] GPU lockup (ESR: 0x00000001 IPEHR: 0x02000004)

2011-05-08 Thread Jonas Eberle
Confirming that this is fixed on my G915. I had very often lockups with
the natty beta's, since 1 week (when this new driver and a new kernel
arrived), not even one.

Thanks to all working on this.

[Bug 761925] [NEW] [i915gm] GPU lockup (ESR: 0x00000001 IPEHR: 0x7d8e0001)

2011-04-15 Thread Jonas Eberle
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 761632 ***

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

This might be a duplicate to the other reported GPU lockups, but I am not sure.
Open user programs: firefox, qtcreator, rhythmbox.

I did only move the mouse, no further user interaction in the minute it
happened.
