Re: [Bug 130247] Re: Random system freeze (keyboard led blink)

2008-05-12 Thread Jon Martin Berntsen
I have been using 8.04 for a while now, and the problem seems to be
completely gone. Using the standard gnome system.
When I was using 7.10 I tried rtorrent, and thats when I had the most
problems with this. The thing that bugged me the most was that I could never
get a descent logfile that could tell me what was wrong...

[Bug 174015] Re: keyboard / log off / shutdown stop working intermittently (bcm43xx related?)

2008-01-16 Thread Jon Martin Berntsen
I read a comment on ubuntuforums that indicated there was something
wrong with the way ubuntu used unfree drivers. So I uninstalled the
unfree driver for bcm43xx, rebooted and so I installed the package found
here:

http://www.linux-geek.org/2007/04/22/dell-1390-native-linux-driver-how-
to-updated/

Package: http://ubuntu.cafuego.net/pool/feisty-cafuego/bcm43xx/bcm43xx-
firmware_1.3-1ubuntu2_all.deb

Then I rebooted, and the wifi was functioning without the unfree driver.
I still havent confirmed that machine won't lock up on me, but I'm
hoping it will do the trick! Time will tell.

[Bug 130247] Re: Random system freeze (keyboard led blink)

2008-02-02 Thread Jon Martin Berntsen
The only way to shut machine down seems to be holding in the powerbuttom
til it shuts down. I'm on an dell inspiron 1501 with amd. It's been fine
for a long time, but today when I used "DeVeDe" it's shut down on me
twice. I was runing DeVeDe both times, and it didn't lock up at any
particular stage of the process of making the dvd. I don't know if this
helps at all. Sorry, I'm not a very technical person.
