ZhengPeng Hou: I did try that before I changed the loading sequence. It didn't seem to have any effect on my system. i.e. I deleted the files (the file in question is a link to the real file in the same directory) after I clicked pasted the error message. [Bug 48482] Kubuntu 6.06 Installer: Lots of Simplified Chinese characters appear as black dots
Public bug reported: The font used for the Kubuntu 6.06 installer doesn't appear to have the characters needed to display all of the selection & instructions in Simplified Chinese. A lot of characters appear as big black dots instead e.g. When selecting a Language at the first screen, the choice for Simplified Chinese should read: 中文（简体） ^ NB: Above would only be legable if you use a Chinese font to view this. In the Language selection list, the character above ^ is actually shown as a big black dot. SOLUTION This appears to be an issue with the Installer using the DeJanSans font. Prior to installation, I downloaded qt3-qtconfig, ran qtconfig, and applied a font substitution for DeJanSans font with "AR PL SanHeiSun Uni" font (thankfully one of the fonts Kubuntu has loaded by default). And restarted X. [Bug 54420] "Change Encoding" in "Edit Album" doesn't work
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kaudiocreator Can't seem to change the encoding (affecting the language used for the id3 tags when ripping) from within the "Edit Album" section. Always defaults to the first choice in the "Encoding" drop down regardless of selected choice (selection doesn't stick). This means that non-English songs titles will be ripped with Mojibake info in the id3 tags. Have tried manally entering song titles in Chinese, the displayed album listing is updated, but the encoding used isn't. Have also ran into the following situation on a default English desktop with Chinese language support installed: 1) Chinese language album information is picked up from freedb. 2) Non-English song titles show up as Mojibake text. English song titles ok. 3) Went into "Edit Album", changes encoding to Simplified Chinese (gbk). Song titles are correctly displayed. 4) Exiting "Edit Album" section sees the "CD Tracks" (first) screen being updated with the correct song title information. 5) Go into "Edit Album" again, the non-English song titles are again in Mojibake. 6) Check the "Change Encoding" section. Encoding has being restored to the first selection. I'm certain that it's always the first choice, because have tried ripping the same cd on a system with Chinese Desktop, which doesn't default to the "Arabic" encoding like the English Desktop does. Everything else stays the same though, Mojibake song titles and all. I have to agree that this issue is quote annoying, I reported a few bug when Kubuntu 6.06 was released. I had then been indirectly subscribed to a number of bug reports that were in one form or another duplicates of the ones that I had submitted. Whilest I welcome any updates on the status of the original bug, I don't like the fact the scope of email notification widens as more and more duplicates of the bugs are being reported (no points for guessing that the user base of distros are increasing all the time, and that duplicate bug reports will be created).
