[Bug 357673] Re: No notification when sliding audio volume, muting volume, sliding LCD brightness on X31, X32, T60, R50e, T42, R52
Will the 'hal' bug #372874 see any love? Fixing bug #372874 and enabling thinkpad_acpi hotkeys for brightness-keys DOES fix the brightness issue. Brightness-notification will then be handled correctly by g-p-m! Modprobe option to enable brightness hotkeys: options thinkpad_acpi hotkey=enable,0x8d The sound-notification is another story, and should be investigated further. HAL should be made aware whether sound-volume-buttons are hardwired or not. I realize my acpid-solution only works when restarting acpid from within the xsession. This is because of the dbus signal system. acpid must have the users dbus-session-bus-address to send the notification. Sorry about that. Anyway the right way of solving the brightness is still fixing the 'hal' bug, and let g-p-m do the work. g-p-m was designed to to this, and it works. I did compile hal with the fix and enabling the hotkeys in thinkpad-acpi. The workaround is great. But its always better to fix the cause. [Bug 380699] [NEW] Perform unidirectional SSL/TLS shutdown on data connections
Public bug reported: This came up as the result of FileZilla releasing a new version of their client that no longer worked with ProFTPd and other FTP servers due to an adjustment in how that client reacts to TLS/SSL session closes. If the client doesn't receive proper notification, it aborts the session (this is my understanding). There has been some discussion over whether the client's interpretation and subsequent implementation of the RFC's is correct or not, but perhaps some discussion can be had here and perhaps ultimately a resolution. As it is now, FileZilla >= v3.1.0 can no longer connect to ProFTPd via TLS/SSL. The upstream bug report is available at http://bugs.proftpd.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3094 The bug has been fixed upstream in proftpd v1.3.2rc2 The changeset of debian to Version: 1.3.1-14 contains this note: * [PATCH] New 3094.dpatch. Implements unidirectional shutdown of TLS/SSL sessions which is mandatory to support recent filezilla and possibly other clients. This will avoid many headaches for Filezilla >=3.1 users reporting failures in connecting proftpd servers. (closes: #498136) This has been merged, so it should be fixed for Jaunty. This fix could be backported to Hardy, as it is LTS! [Bug 335447] Re: Thinkpad function key (Fn+F3) to switch off backlight no longer works
I'm not sure if that is posible, as it seems gnome-screensaver surpresses the keyevent after it has catched it. I think the problem here is that the screensaver is responsible for locking the screen, whereas the gnome-power-manager is responsible for saving power by turning dpms off. At least the screensaver should send and event to the gnome-power- manager to decide if the screen should be turned off. I think this bug does NOT concern acpi, but a combination of gnome- screensaver and gnome-power-manager! Personaly I set up a acpi event catching Fn+F1 to call screenblank.sh, which works as predicted. Fn+F1 is still handled by acpid. [Bug 277404] Re: hp laserjet postscript text print does not print some characters
Unfortunately it didn't fix bug #313713 ! I'm printing on a HP Laserjet 4 Plus which should support PS level 2. Printing on Gutsy worked. Problems started with Hardy. I did try out the Gutsy ppd, but that didn't fix anything. The printer gives me this error: Error: invalidfont Offending command: definefont Stack: /Font -dictionary- /KPSHBO+f-1-0 The .ps sent to the printer says its level 2, how can I verify it ? Seems to be an issue embedding the fonts! ** Attachment added: "cups output that fails" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/24370298/domstol.ps -- hp laserjet postscript text print does not print some characters https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/277404 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 372874] Re: Generic get_brightness function should read 'actual_brightness' not 'brightness'
Ubuntu should not wait for upstream. Try out the patch. It solves the brightness-notification issue. 1. Apply attached patch to hald 2. echo "options thinkpad_acpi hotkey=enable,0xfd" > /etc/modprobe.d/thinkpad_acpi.conf 3. According to this spec regarding the Celeron 500 series, covering at least the 540 (not sure about the M 530): http://download.intel.com/design/mobile/datashts/31766603.pdf the architecture does support clock and power control, through the C-states. It seems not to be only a thermal solution, but what do I know! Is C-states control the throttling/thermal technique you are talking about?
