[Bug 298357] [NEW] Menus stop working after adjusting brightness using Fn keys
Public bug reported: I use Ubuntu 8.10 and I have problem adjusting brightness using Fn+Up/Down keys on my Dell Studio 1535 laptop. Brightness changes as I press the keys, but OSD indicator (progressbar) begins to move to max/min position when I stop pressing the keys. That would not bother me, but the worst think is that after this no single menu/popupmenu in gtk/gnome/xfce applications (I did not test it with qt/kde) is shown. E.g. when I click "File" in firefox, "File" gets highlighted, but no menu is shown. The same apply for gnome panel menus and other applications. It happens no matter if compiz is enabled or dissabled. Video card is Intel X31OO. Let me know if you need more information. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Menus stop working after adjusting brightness using Fn keys https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/298357 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 210419] [NEW] Human murrine removed?
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: human-theme I was using Human-Murrine from "human-theme" package in Ubuntu 8.04, but after today update there is no such theme. So Human-Clearlooks. [Bug 201067] [NEW] Audigy 2 ZS - no more 5.1 upmix and bad sound
Public bug reported: I've just noticed that ubuntu 8.4 doesn't upmix stereo to 5.1 by default when 5.1 repro is connected like the older version (7.10), which is bad, very bad, because normal user doesn't want to edit some alsa configuration files. It would be nice if there vere possibility to choose 5.1 upmix in gnome-volume-properties. Also would be great if there were possibility to change default soundcard (not only for esd, but for ALSA, so we could play games on the _right_ soundcard (read not from the one integrated on MB). Another difference from the previous version is, that the output sound is somehow worse than it used to be. e.g. when listening to mp3s, sound is normal for couple of seconds, then it "skips" second or two, then again normal, etc. Like some buffer error, or maybe wrong frequency(?) ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Audigy 2 ZS - no more 5.1 upmix and bad sound https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201067 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 91200] system freeze after DVD inserted
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 7.04 Alpha Asus K8N motherboard, 512MB RAM, GF6600GT After I inserted data DVD (not dvd video), i got "Can't mount device, invalid mount parameter" message. So I've edited "udf,iso9660" in /etc/fstab to "auto". Now if I insert any data DVD i get total system freeze. Nothing is working then, i can't even login using SSH. [Bug 91200] Re: system freeze after DVD inserted
Now, it is 2.6.20-12-generic. It's working again, but there is another kernel update pending, so I'll let you know, if it is working after update. -- system freeze after DVD inserted https://launchpad.net/bugs/91200 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 531654] Re: Make shutdown and user menu separate applets
Is this in lucid yet? I can see no difference, it is still one applet and there is no schema for /system/indicator/me/anonymous, setting it with gconftool-2 has no effect ... -- Make shutdown and user menu separate applets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/531654 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 531654] Re: Make shutdown and user menu separate applets
Well, this is good solution for me. But what if there were 2 (or more) users of one computer and first one would like to have it hidden but second one would like to have it shown. C'mon, would it really be that hard to make it configurable? To program one submenu with one or two checkboxes is question of at most 5 minutes and it would really help. Or would you like users to yell "Hey, ubuntu is piece of * as you can't remove IM status indicator without removing shoutdown menu", "you can't remove envelope stuff without removing volume control". Not all ubuntu's users know this cannot be hidden as they just watch the screenshot someone makes. That could be why they don't report this as well, but when the final version is released, I believe this will be number one people will hate about Ubuntu. Not everyone want to be "part" of social networks. But gess what, Sebastian, they won't fix it. They do not want to. As they didn't want to fix that wallperer included in Ubuntu 8.10 with visible steps in gradients as I reported half year ago, because it would add 1MB to ISO image (which could be saved by not including mono and by including better alternatives not dependent on mono). New wallpaper contains them again and wallpaper is among first things users notice and it's part of "first impression". And when you see the wallpaper, you just say - hey, they don't care what people think. And they removed gimp (a lot of saved space), but not because of wallpaper, but to include social piece of *. Why don't they just make better wallpaper. What is problem with some kind of "nature" in the wallpaper. There are not that visible jpeg artefacts. On "one color" wallpaper, there are. They just release it, because they get money from sponsors, not from most of their users. They are not releasing Ubuntu for people, they are releasing it for themselves. That is why they won't fix this bug as well. --- I'm impulsive. I know it. I have personality disorder, but I had to say what I thought. -- Make shutdown and user menu separate applets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/531654 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
