[Bug 155432] Re: Regression from Feisty to Gutsy: No network devices after Resume from Suspend-to-RAM

2007-10-25 Thread Iulian D.
Confirming this problem on a Dell Latitude D820. It does not happen all
the time though, only after 3-4 Suspend-to-RAM/Resume cycles.

'rmmod ipw3945', for example, says "ERROR: Module ipw3945 is in use"

Output of lspci -nn attached.

[Bug 155432] Re: Regression from Feisty to Gutsy: No network devices after Resume from Suspend-to-RAM

2007-10-30 Thread Iulian D.
A workaround which works for me is to run the following two commands in
a terminal, after resuming:

sudo killall NetworkManager
sudo NetworkManager

[Bug 196277] Re: [hardy] keyboard layout switching shortcut doesn't work after reboot

2008-05-03 Thread Iulian D.
The layout switching bug seems definitely related to Automatic login.
Prompted by Comment 55 above, I enabled Automatic login (System ->
Administration -> Login Window, tab Security). After reboot, layout
switching fails to work exactly as described in this bug. Disable
automatic login, log off and back on, and layout switching starts to
work. Tested on a fresh install of hardy.

I don't know about your num lock problem, but the part about the Spanish
layout not working looks very much like Bug #206008

[Bug 206008] Re: hardy/beta> keybord configuration reset to US after reboot

2008-04-01 Thread Iulian D.
I'm experiencing this too. I have a Hardy beta system, upgraded from
Gutsy. The default keyboard layout is USA, and I configured Romanian as
a secondary layout.

After a reboot, I try toggling between USA and Romanian, either by
clicking on the keyboard indicator applet, or by pressing the defined
shortcut. The indicator applet changes, but the layout is still USA, no
matter what the applet shows.

If I go to Keyboard preferences, remove the Romanian layout and add it
back again, it all works - I can use the Romanian layout. It continues
to work until the next reboot.

xorg version: 1:7.3+10ubuntu7

[Bug 43745] Re: Ubuntu corrupts real time clock on some dell laptops

2007-03-08 Thread Iulian D.
I have a Dell Inspiron 6400, running Edgy with some packages from
Feisty, in particular kernel 2.6.20-9-lowlatency, version 2.6.20-9.16.

I frequently put the laptop in suspend-to-disk using `hibernate`. After
a number of hibernate-wakeup cycles, it starts going downhill.

First, the Grub timer doesn't count down. But I can hit Esc and then
select the kernel manually, then the system boots and restores my
desktop OK. The desktop clock is still showing the time when the system
was put to hibernation, but after about 1 minute, it gets synchronised
to the correct time (ntp kicking in?).

Now, after I hibernate the system once more and wake it up again, the
clock doesn't get updated to the correct time. It's still running
however, but it's behind. If the system stayed in hibernate for 1 hour,
the clock will be 1 hour behind.

Doing sudo hwclock --hctosys results in this:

select() to /dev/rtc to wait for clock tick timed out

I didn't dare to force a full power-on test, because I've heard some
people had to change their motherboards after that.

Hope it helps.
