[Bug 358333] Re: system freeze on facebook surfing

2009-04-28 Thread Giannis
I have the same problem too. My system freezes when i browse on
facebook. I looked my system monitor/info and i found that firefox has
allocated 920MB RAM(!!) and the swap partition is active. I think we
have a huge memory leak here.

1. Login to facebook (with firefox 3.0.9 - 3.0.10, ubuntu 9.04)
2. Open System > Administration > System Monitor from gnome panel and look
the memory allocation of Firefox
3. Click on Home button (at facebook) and repeat that 10-20 times
4. Look at memory allocation of Firefox

[Bug 435352] Re: regression: uvcvideo module makes "cannot reset port" error on usb with bison webcam (5986:0203): USB and suspend fails

This bug is reinstated on 2.6.31-19-generic. :(

Webcam and usb are not working again. Had to revert back to
2.6.31-18-generic.

[Bug 435352] Re: regression: uvcvideo module makes "cannot reset port" error on usb with bison webcam (5986:0203): USB and suspend fails

2010-02-05 Thread Giannis
@ mzc :

Yes. Webcam is not working at all. Bluetooth is not working if it's
switched off at boot. Any usb device that is not already plugged in at
boot will not work. (usb hotplug not working).

Basically, it's exactly the same bug. I think the patch that fixed this
in 2.6.31-18, was omitted from 2.6.31-19

2010-02-06 Thread Giannis
@wolfgang:

You're probably right. Yes, the patched -18 kernel is in proposed, and
-19 comes from security. That explains it. I hope the next kernel
release (-20?) when -18 makes it on updates will include the patch for
this bug, and the security patches from -19.

[Bug 1239233] Re: Video playback is like fast forward in 13.10 when radeon HDMI audio output is enabled (but no sound at all)

2013-10-19 Thread giannis
I can confirm that. Choosing other audio output than HDMI immediately
makes video playback normal. It is strange that removing the
"radeon.audio=1" parameter and updating GRUB, still after reboot
Pulseaudio shows HDMI audio output even though it is disabled by default
as far as I know.

[Bug 983812] [NEW] lightdm every 10 minutes uses 50% of CPU causing video playback hang

2012-04-17 Thread giannis
Public bug reported:

Watching movies on VLC i noticed that every some minutes the video
hanged for some seconds. I found that a process called "/usr/bin/X :0
-auth /var/run/lightdm/root/:0 -nolisten tcp vt7 -novtswitch -background
none" was using every 10 minutes for some seconds 50% of CPU making my
weak CPU (atom N450) not capable to execute both processes together and
video hang for some seconds every time. together with this process,
another process called "xfce4-settings-helper" uses 10-15% of cpu. after
some seconds both are going to idle.

[Bug 985947] [NEW] Every 10 minutes xorg is loading CPU 50-65% resulting to battery drain and performance drop

[Bug 1237105] Re: HDMI audio stop working after system suspend

2013-10-09 Thread giannis
I've tested both 3.12-RC4 and 3.11.4 kernels and HDMI audio didn't work
at all (it is enabled, pulseaudio shows correct output but no sound
comes from the TV). With 3.8.0.31 kernel this behaviour shows up only
after suspend.

[Bug 1365416] [NEW] Shutdown during scheduled updates leads sometimes to corrupted dependencies

2014-09-04 Thread Giannis
Public bug reported:

I have installed Ubuntu in some inexperienced users and I have activated
the "download and install updates automatically". After some months
everyone had corrupted dependencies or packages because during the
updates installation they shutdown their PCs by ignorance.

This leads to not updated packages (which may lead in stability and
security problems) till someone using terminal solve those problems
(usually with sudo apt-get -f install). Till then updates stop working
automatically.

I think Ubuntu in case that updates installation is in progress, should
wait for the updates to finish (prevent shutdown) informing users about
the shutdown delay with a message. Something like Windows 7 do probably.

[Bug 1365421] [NEW] If you move an app icon in unity panel it is pinned in panel automatically

2014-09-04 Thread Giannis
Public bug reported:

If you open an unpinned app from dash and during work you move this icon
between other pinned icons/apps, it is pinned automatically by its own
and stays there after application close.

For example If I open a .pdf file with pdf viewer and move "pdf viewer"

want this icon to stay there after I finish my work.

problem. With Xubuntu 13.10 video playback is like set to fast forward.

Is is happening both in browser video playback (Youtube) and video
playback in Parole.

VLC doesn't suffer from the same problem.

Checked with 3.12-RC4 kernel and nothing changed.
Checked with or without radeon.dpm=1 and radeon.audio=1 settings.

[Bug 1239233] Re: Video playback is like fast forward in 13.10

2013-10-16 Thread giannis
I found something very interesting. When I disable as default the radeon
HDMI audio output from pulseaudio, video playback is normal again.

So maybe is related with the strange behaviour I have with kernel 3.11
and 3.12-RC4. HDMI is enabled whether or not I enable "radeon.audio=1"
on GRUB but in both cases even though pulseaudio sound level output
indicator inside "volume sound control" panel is showing "pulse", TV
speakers doesn't produce any sound.

** Summary changed:

- Video playback is like fast forward in 13.10
+ Video playback is like fast forward in 13.10 when radeon HDMI output is
enabled (no sound at all)

** Summary changed:

- Video playback is like fast forward in 13.10 when radeon HDMI output is
enabled (no sound at all)
+ Video playback is like fast forward in 13.10 when radeon HDMI audio output is
enabled (but no sound at all)

[Bug 939461] Re: commercial PPA's are not working after release-upgrade

2013-04-23 Thread giannis
Very severe problem. novice users will never handle such a problem. They
will end up with an old google-chrome for example and their paid app (ex
stormcloud) will never update again.

That problem prevents me from suggesting any distribution update and of
course with such a small support period for non-LTS releases, i would
not recommend anything else but an LTS release for non experimental use
of course but for a ordinary desktop. My self returned all my devices to
12.04 LTS so i dont have to reinstall the extra software (to enable the
deactivated ppa) every 6 months.

[Bug 1201229] [NEW] Should be a choice for one graph on multicore CPUs

2013-07-14 Thread giannis
Public bug reported:

It is more than a feature missing than a bug.

System monitor should be able to set to display the CPU load in one
graph even in multicore CPU.

For exaple in a 4 core CPU when one core is loaded 100% and the other 3
are idle, it should be the choice to display that with a number of CPU
load 25%.

Windows task manager has this ability. System Monitor should have this
ability too.

I am using 3.4.1 on 12.04 LTS.

Yes this is close to what i would like to see. So it would be good to
have the option to set it to display the percentage of total CPU use
instead of each 4 cores use for example. Like Windows task manager.

[Bug 1184036] Re: vblank - vsync doesn't work for video playback (vlc - flash -html5)

2013-05-24 Thread giannis
** Description changed:

nvidia-settings vblank is checked but the v-sync does not work for video
playback with vlc or web playback on flash player or html5 playback.

- It happened suddenly. for a long time v-sync worked.
+ Globs benchmark or glxgears give me 60FPS meaning that v-sync on GL apps
+ is working. It had to work for video playback too..
