[Bug 277084] Re: nm-applet confused by icon name changes during hardy-intrepid upgrade

2008-11-03 Thread Germán Póo-Caamaño
I upgraded today (november 03), with the following information:

$ apt-cache policy network-manager
network-manager:
  Installed: 0.7~~svn20081018t105859-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.7~~svn20081018t105859-0ubuntu1

 *** 0.7~~svn20081018t105859-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://cl.archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages

After reboot, I couldn't get my wireless working. I had configured eth0
manually
in order to get network access.

If I kill nm-applet and try to run it again I get:

$ nm-applet --sm-disable

nautilus 2.22.4 has been released a couple of weeks ago. Between other

I have created a package using 2.22.3 and I have been test it since then
I haven't seen any issue.

[Bug 258484] [NEW] Doesn't connect throught PPPoE (default provider via Modem)

2008-08-15 Thread Germán Póo-Caamaño
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

The situation:

1. There is available 1 access point (just a plain ap).
2. The access point is connected to the "router" provided by the ISP.
3. The connection is done via PPPoE using the "router".

The problem:

Whenever I choose "Dialup Connections"/"Connect to Default Provider via Modem",
doesn't get connected, neither show any error message.

The log shows something like "PADO time out".

The solution:

Kill the process that take the network device (aka dhclient). And then run
manually "sudo pon".

I expected something like:
- NM connects to AP and it tries to get an IP using DHCP
- If I choose Dialup I would expect to disable DHCP and enable PPPoE
  (or PPP).

Extra data:
Ubuntu 8.04, NM-0.6.6

[Bug 215420] [NEW] Open a Word's document as read-only if table of content is present.

2008-04-10 Thread Germán Póo-Caamaño
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org2

1. Open OpenOffice in Hardy.
2. Create a document.
3. Use styles. Set 'Headings' for same titles.
4. Add a Table of Contents in the beginning of document.
5. Save the document a Word 97/2000/XP
6. Close OpenOffice.

Now:
1. Open the document saved with OpenOffice. Now this file can't be edited
because is marked as Read-only (you can see it in the status bar "section2
read-only). This happens even if 'Edit' button in the toolbar is enabled.

The only operation as user you can do is delete the table of contents.

In order to edit the file, you must to delete the Table of Contents,
save the file, and then, reopen it.

If you add the Table of contents, next time, it will happen the same.
So, at this moment is necessary to add the table of contents when you
are finished your document.

This behaviour doens't happen if the document is saved as ODT.

Also, the same document can be edited without problems in Word or
OpenOffice of Gutsy. so, this bug affects only OpenOffice in Hardy.

Attached a document which is opened as 'edited mode' but only 'read-
only' (weird).

It seems epiphany-browser-dbg is completely useless. It is better

Damn it!

It a bit obfuscated the way to add an exception.

Giving so many steps, will end in user changing the browser to use.

There are so many FLOSS projects using this kind of certificates

[Bug 452133] [NEW] epiphany-browser crashed with SIGSEGV in IA__gdk_x11_window_get_drawable_impl()

2009-10-15 Thread Germán Póo-Caamaño
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

The situation is the following:

1. Several epiphany's windows opened. In this bug I had only two different
windows.
2. I close one of them, and epiphany-browser crashes.

If I have several tabs opened in one window, and I close them it does not
crash.  I am
able to reproduce it when I open more than window.

It is not always happens, but at least several times in a session, which is
obviously annoying
because sometimes I forget I must not close windows if I had pending work in
another one.

I see there are more chances to happen if one of them is openened with some
Google apps, such
as Reader.

[Bug 452133] Re: epiphany-browser crashed with SIGSEGV in IA__gdk_x11_window_get_drawable_impl()

2009-10-15 Thread Germán Póo-Caamaño
After reading the comment at
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=596397#c1 I started to
disable extensions, one by one.

Just when I clicked the checkbox to disable the Sidebar extension,
epiphany crashed again. I have been working without this extension
enabled and it has not crashed again.

After upgrading from gtkwebkit 1.1.15.1 to 1.115.2, I tried it again. I
enabled the sidedar extension. As soon as I tried to open the sidebar
(F9) epiphany gots frozen.

I suspect the Sidebard extensions its broken.

[Bug 410278] Re: [Feature request]Allow empathy conversation window to be minimized to notification area

2009-10-18 Thread Germán Póo-Caamaño
It used to work on Jaunty. Hence, this bug is not a wish list, it is a
regression.

And I do think it was introduced with the code of "message indicators".

It seems this bug was introduced on purpose (see #392153), which is a
shame.

marc_v: in order to get the same behavior of empathy(upstream), you can
do the following:

$ sudo apt-get build-dep empathy
$ apt-get source empathy
$ cd empathy
$ rm debian/patches/30_raise_not_toggle.patch
$ dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -b
$ cd ..
$ sudo dpkg -i empathy_2.28.0.*.deb

A change on this behaviour will not be accepted on the stable upstream.

[Bug 448153] Re: Folder settings (metadata) lost after upgrade

2009-10-30 Thread Germán Póo-Caamaño
This is a regression and it seems it happens in Ubuntu.

Nautilus has an utility to migrate (nautilus-convert-metadata) which was added
on
http://gitorious.org/nautilus/nautilus/commit/1d14824dc8ab6f1f8573b07c11ce437ae22dc77b

Also in:
http://gitorious.org/nautilus/nautilus/commit/72f65592a84cb8e9ad2ccaa6bbfd7fe4fbe7371b

There was a (probably related) bug on the Debian package, according to the
following message:
http://np237.livejournal.com/25396.html

The issue is nautilus-convert-metadata is not installed in Ubuntu. Hence, it
fails to migrate the user
data.  Look at the code:

3   if (g_file_test (metafile_dir, G_FILE_TEST_IS_DIR)) {
644 updated = g_build_filename (metafile_dir,
"migrated-to-gvfs", NULL);
645 if (!g_file_test (updated, G_FILE_TEST_EXISTS)) {
646 g_spawn_command_line_async
(LIBEXECDIR"/nautilus-convert-metadata --quiet", NULL);
647 fd = g_creat (updated, 0600);
648 if (fd != -1) {
649 close (fd);
650 }
651 }
652 g_free (updated);
653 }
654 g_free (metafile_dir);
655 }

This is a regression. IMVHO it should not be low priority.

I compiled nautilus by myself and I ran manually nautilus-convert-metadata and
the issue was gone.

[Bug 448153] Re: Folder settings (metadata) lost after upgrade

2009-10-31 Thread Germán Póo-Caamaño
I would like to add, that if it the nautilus-convert-metadata were added,
it will work only for new upgrades.

No matter if the migration was successful or not, nautilus add the
the file migrated-to-gvfs into ~/.nautilus/metadata; which is verified
later to decide whether to run the converter program or not. Hence,
if the program is installed and the user already ran Nautilus 2.28
from Ubuntu it will not migrate the data.

As I said on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/659513
this bug was already reported and fixed in upstream.

straightforward,
short and easy to apply.

[Bug 659513] [NEW] Empty reply quotation for HTML messages

2010-10-12 Thread Germán Póo-Caamaño
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Long story short:
Having set in Mail Preferences, HTML Messages tab:
   [x] Show suppressed HTML parts as attachments

   [ Show plain text if present | v ]

and in Composer Preferences,
   [ ] Format messages as HTML
   ...
   Reply style: [ Quoted | v ]

then using the attached message and replying to it will create an empty body,
with no quotation - body will contain only a line:

and nothing else. This is doing it either when the message preview is on, or
from a message window (double-clicking on the message itself), otherwise it
does the correct thing too (with no preview pane).

Unchecking "Show suppressed HTML parts as attachments" will let this work as
expected with a preview pane too.

This bug was originally reported in Red Hat, but it is present in the latest
Evolution 2.30.3 (shipped with Ubuntu 10.10).
