I can confirm this. YouTube streams stop after a few seconds. Public bug reported: Versions prior to 1.9 do not work anymore. Quantal currently includes version 1.7. Better to remove it entirely than to ship with a completely broken version. By the way, since I am the author, I receive and read on the Ubuntu Software Center all kinds of negative comments because of this "packaging laziness". @Dmitry, In theory, yes it's possible. But there is another showstopper problem in version 1.7 with the newer versions of phonon-gstreamer (from 12.04 onward). Playback randomly stops and skips to the next video. So that would need another patch. I can confirm this on 12.04. I add that sometimes, although more rarely, video is played without audio.
