[Bug 371342] [NEW] linux-image-2.6.27-11-generic 2.6.27-11.31 failed to install

2009-05-03 Thread Farran
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-generic

It just won't install and keeps saying problems with dependencies. the
dependencies appear to be other packages it is already trying to install. It
has actually done this with all the images I have tried to install since about
2.6.27-9 I think.
Hope that's helpful enough...

[Bug 1265594] [NEW] Can't upgrade to Saucy

2014-01-02 Thread Farran
Public bug reported:

I am running an almost vanilla distribution of Ubuntu, with only a few
apps even installed. I have two PPAs - xorg-edgers and libreoffice - in
use, because I needed a newer nvidia driver for this gpu. I have done
far more than this to my computers before and upgrades will always at
least _try_ to run: this one is refusing point blank whilst it's still
calculating the upgrade. I have previously tried purging the xorg ppa,
but still nothing will work. I have attempted this upgrade multiple
times ever since Saucy was released.

[Bug 858808] Re: Filesync fails with org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod error

2011-09-28 Thread Farran
Just for the record, this affected me in 11.04 as well, but I couldn't find any
fix for it at all. In fact, it would regularly hang my system so I had to
remove it.
Ubuntu One was reinstalled during the upgrade (which I only just did) and it
still gives exactly the same error:

File Sync error. (org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: Method
"current_status" with signature "" on interface
"com.ubuntuone.SyncDaemon.Status" doesn't exist)

[Bug 410948] Re: Volume too loud

2011-10-12 Thread Farran
I can't contribute anything to this in the way of help, but I also have this
issue with my headphones - I can provide any hardware and bug information you
need to sort this out.
I've just upgraded to Oneiric on my mum's computer, and now we're having this
volume problem with the headphones (possibly with the main speaker output as
well, although I can't test this right now), rendering her headphones totally
unusable.

As with several other people who have commented on here, I can get
perfect volume with the alsamixer control, but when I change the volume
with the volume keys (or through the pulseaudio mixer), the volume
levels go all over the place. In fact, watching them change in alsamixer
is really weird - none of the changes seem to make sense.

If an actual fix is found (even if only for my soundcard 'ICH7 82801G'),
could someone please post it to http://askubuntu.com/questions/65565
/headphone-output-is-far-too-loud as well?

[Bug 844081] Re: Unity Greeter - Background of the Unity Greeter should reflect the background chosen by the user that is currently selected

2011-10-31 Thread Farran
The effects in that video are damn slick, and look fantastic, but I
immediately thought of the same problem as @Fred.. the user's background
could be of absolutely anything. Perhaps in the background settings (or
the login screen settings, or both) there could be an option to enable
this feature (opt-in rather than opt-out of course)?

[Bug 420705] Re: ubuntuone-syncdaemon crashed with DBusException in __new__()

2011-04-29 Thread Farran
I can't tell if I have file sync disabled or not, as it hasn't worked for
months, and the new control panel in natty doesn't even let me turn it on or
off (it's greyed out).
CPU usage isn't particularly high, but whilst trying to kill
ubuntuone-syncdaemon, I discovered it is constantly restarting itself - it is
almost impossible to kill due to this, as it keeps getting assigned a new PID.

For the record, this is the error message displayed inside the Ubuntu One
control panel, although it tends to vary slightly:
File Sync error. (org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not
receive a reply (timeout by message bus))
