[Bug 293176] Re: Ubuntu 8.10 doesn't support logitech and labtec webcam

2008-12-31 Thread Dianne Reuby
I've got this with a Logitech Quickcam Chat - all I get is a black
screen in both Cheese and Camstream. The solution given in Nobbit's post
doesn't work for me. Although the module seems to be loaded, I get
"Module gspca not found".

I do notice that when I boot, the light on the camera comes on. But if I
load a webcam app, the light goes out. It works in XP with no problem,
so I know the camera is working.

[Bug 179374] Re: Gutsy doesn't shut down with Camorama

2008-12-29 Thread Dianne Reuby
Andres, this bug doesn't seem to exist in Intrepid (the webcam doesn't
work, but that's another problem!).

I haven't tried in Jaunty yet.

[Bug 408410] [NEW] Cannot create template with multiple labels on a page

2009-08-03 Thread Dianne Reuby
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: glabels

Glabels 2.2.3 in Ubuntu 9.04

I can't create a template with anything other than one label to a page -
although I can change the number of labels per row/column, once the the
template is saved and a document opened from it, it only shows as one
label per page both in the template listings and in the new document
itself.

I think this is the first time I've needed to use Glabels since
upgrading to 9.04, and I know I have created templates on earlier
versions of Ubuntu with multiple labels to a page. 2.2.3 is the latest
version available through Synaptic.

[Bug 119194] Re: ps2 mouse erratic - parity errors

2008-04-10 Thread Dianne Reuby
For me, this seems to be related to the hardware of the mouse - if the
cable catches on something, or is in certain positions, although I've
tried several mice. Some days it's much worse than others.

I viewed several PDF files online, these are local walks, and consist of
a map page with the route added in red, and a text description page.

Viewing through Firefox 2 (left-clicking the link) displays perfectly
OK. Downloading to HDD and displaying in Adobe 8 also displays OK. But
in Evince the downloaded files have a "brick pattern" of dotted red
lines over the map image, covering large parts of it.

Properties show creation info as:

[Bug 48016] Re: USB HP DESKJET 950C printer not connected

2007-09-09 Thread Dianne Reuby
I'm getting this error with a Canon IP3000, Ubuntu 7/04, using the
Turboprint driver. I've had no problems until now, using it for about
four months.

I've installed these two updates (at least) since I last used the printer:
Commit Log for Sat Sep 8 17:16:06 2007
Upgraded the following packages:
libkrb53 (1.4.4-5ubuntu3.2) to 1.4.4-5ubuntu3.3

Commit Log for Wed Sep 5 08:24:39 2007
Upgraded the following packages:
libkrb53 (1.4.4-5ubuntu3.1) to 1.4.4-5ubuntu3.2

My error log has only this:
E [07/Sep/2007:13:56:46 +0100] Creating missing directory "/var/run/cups/certs"
E [07/Sep/2007:13:58:59 +0100] Creating missing directory "/var/run/cups/certs"
E [08/Sep/2007:08:47:42 +0100] Creating missing directory "/var/run/cups/certs"

But is this a totally different bug - should I create a "new" bug
report?

TIA

[Bug 138473] Printing: Unable to lookup host 'usb' - Unknown host

2007-09-09 Thread Dianne Reuby
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cupsys

Ubuntu 7.04, Canon IP3000 printer, Turboprint driver, I've had no
problems until now, using it for about four months.

No "pop-up" type error dialog, but properties shows "printer not

host 'usb' - Unknown host".

I've installed these two updates (at least) since I last used the printer:

directly to my PC with USB - I have no network.

[Bug 138473] Re: Printing: Unable to lookup host 'usb' - Unknown host

2007-09-10 Thread Dianne Reuby
If I change the URI in properties, I still can't print - but should I do
a complete reinstall instead?

I have noticed that selecting "properties" for the printer pushes CPU
usage right up to 100%. and the "properties" dialogue takes about 20
seconds to load.

[Bug 72262] Re: Form Wizard in Base does not complete

2007-07-25 Thread Dianne Reuby
I've followed Joel Parkers instructions in Feisty. However the menus don't show
OO. If I double-click an .odt file, it opens in Archive Manager. If I
double-click a .doc file, it opens the "add/remove apps" dialogue. It
recommends OO, and displays the version that I've just installed:
Writer module for OpenOffice.org 2.2
Writer module for OpenOffice.org 2.2
(Converted from a rpm package by alien version 8.65.)
Version: 2.2.1-9162 (openoffice.org-writer)
but clicking OK doesn't open OO. It's on there somewhere, but I can't find it
to add it manually!

[Bug 153057] Re: Evince doesn't display PDF-documents done with InDesign

2007-11-05 Thread Dianne Reuby
Here's one I'm having this problem with. I downloaded the original some
while back under Feisty - no problems with it, and I have a printed copy
that's OK. Now it only displays part of page 2, and the page numbering
is something like page 127 of 4. :)

I've downloaded it again to make sure it's not a corrupt file, and it
still has the same problem.

[Bug 179374] Gutsy doesn't shut down with Camorama

2007-12-30 Thread Dianne Reuby
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: camorama

Camorama 0.18 (installed from Synaptic) on Ubuntu 7.10, using Logitech

Gutsy fails to shut down - goes to black screen, doesn't display the
normal shutdown screen with Ubuntu logo, stays on until power switched
off manually. Re-starts OK. No problem when Camorama uninstalled.

[Bug 84762] Re: Feisty: usb mouse stops working

2007-06-07 Thread Dianne Reuby
I'm running Feisty, not on a laptop. I've had intermittent PS2 mouse
problems, it throws itself round the screen opening random windows, so
yesterday I swapped to a USB mouse, and that seemed OK.

When I booted this morning, I couldn't log in - the cursor was flashing
in the username box, but nothing happened when I typed, F10 didn't do
anything. I rebooted, and got the same, but with no mouse either. Tried
XP, forgot until I was half way through loading that the keyboard was OK
up until the GUI loaded, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to choose
an OS!

Put my old PS2 mouse on, went back to Feisty, and during boot got
"Superblock last mount time is in the future. FIXED", then "FSCK died
Exit Status 1". However the keyboard let me log in.

Rebooting when I haven't used a USB mouse gives no errors. Rebooting
after I've had (any) USB mouse gives those problems - Superblock fixed,
FSCK died, can't log in. I'm using a USB hub.

This started in Dapper, and continues in Feisty, but not in Windows XP.

The mouse moves erratically around the screen, any icons or links that
it passes over, it opens. I've seen many references to this error
message, but no solutions. I've tried USB mice, but they give other
errors, which are under investigation already.

Clicking on the crash report gives me an error:

Sorry, the program "evolution" closed unexpectedly

Your computer does not have enough free memory to automatically analyse
the problem and send a report to the developers.

[Bug 593367] Re: evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in get_glyph_items_in_range()

2010-06-15 Thread Dianne Reuby
Evo is crashing several times a week, each time with a different
message. Often I'm on another desk, so all I see is the "evolution has
closed" box and the apport reporting box. When I am actually using evo
during a crash, I can usually tell it's about to happen as it responds
extremely slowly - as I delete emails, the are shown with strikethrough
rather than disappearing straight away. When I am using it, it's always
just to read emails - I rarely use the calendar or switch to contacts
view.

Apport seems to have filed my other crash reports at Bugzilla, eg

[Bug 600741] Re: Search box always returns a blank page

2010-08-14 Thread Dianne Reuby
I'm using Firefox 3.6.8 (Firefox for Ubuntu 1.0) - I did a clean install
of 10.04 so it's the release that is included, with all updates since
the install in April.

Screenshots - I've chosen to search for "install software" as I know
that's included!

OK, take me away and lock me up - I just tried safe mode and it's OK, so
it's obviously one of my extensions.
