[Bug 145431] Re: compiz slow with nvidia
Everything is still the same, nothing has changed :( - 50hz - detect refresh rate - no vsync (heavy tearing!) [Bug 145431] Re: Disable "detect refresh rate" for nVidia drivers
I will test the next alpha then. The current Builds don't start here (kernel panic...). Will SyncToVBlank be enabled? (Kwin4 does this, too. Looks as smooth as Vista/7 or OSX then!) PS: Mplayer/Xine/VLC etc... should be compiled with vdpau support! Vdpau does an incredible job. FullHD 1080p/24p - smooth, no tearing with kwin4 compositing! SD 576i/25i - 50 pictures/s (with bobbing), still no tearing :D regards Dennis -- Disable "detect refresh rate" for nVidia drivers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145431 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 64474] Re: system pauses
I have exactly the same problem. Now that the livecd (since 10-11-06, I think) properly detects my harddrives (p-ata and s-ata!) ubuntu just stops after a while. It doesn't complete the installation. Ubuntu just hangs before the system is completely installed. :( PS: I have to boot with irqpoll option, otherwise the livecd won't boot. My system: ASUS P5W Deluxe Core2Duo 6300 (@2800MHz) 2GB DDR2 PC6400 Dualchannel MSI Geforce 7900GTO 512MB 1x Samsung Sata 250GB (jmicron) 1x Samsung Pata 250GB (jmicron) 2x DVD-/+RW (Intel ICH8) I don't know what's wrong. Even if I clock my PC down the ubuntu livecd hangs after a while. It always happens when I try to install from the livecd. regards Dennis -- system pauses https://launchpad.net/bugs/64474 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 64474] Re: system pauses
Hi The last time I tried to install ubuntu from the livecd I've been waiting 1 minute, but nothing happened... So I did a restart and booted into windows again. I will do further tests about the problem. Maybe I have to turn off advanced bios options like C1E, Hyperpath3 etc. It could maybe be a problem with the 'irqpoll'-option, but without it the alternate- and the live-cd won't start. I tried various irq/pci(-e)/plug-and-play os-options in bios, but it doesn't matter. The alternate-cd doesn't work either. It just stops installing in the 2nd part of the setup (after calculating about 500-600 dependencies). It doesn't have anything to do with overclocking. I tried to install ubuntu with standard settings but it hanged at 31% when installing. I just want a working ubuntu installation on my new pc. (btw. I've tried opensuse 10.2alpha2, but it doesn't even recognize my hdds.) regards Dennis -- system pauses https://launchpad.net/bugs/64474 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 145431] Re: compiz slow with nvidia
I've noticed that 'sync to vblank' is now disabled with the latest compiz release. Why? It looks ugly without when moving windows and isn't any faster! Sync to vblank is a must and detect refresh rate has to be disabled (when nvidia rendering is used) since things get much worse with it. Plus the hz rate has to be set to an higher value to prevent stuttering. [Bug 145432] compiz slow with nvidia
Public bug reported: If nvidia driver (nvidia-glx-new 100.14.19) is activated through restricted-manager compiz starts after a restart which works quite good... BUT, it is slow because it could be configured better! There's a bug in nvidia driver which reports refresh rate values wrong to other apps (e.g. displayconfig-gtk or compiz, etc...) #92599 So compiz only uses 50 frames but it should use 60 or 70 fps! These are the two messages I get on tty4: kernel: not found Intel ISA PCIC probe: not found The second message appears very rarely. Max. 1 time in 2 seconds compared to 100 times in 1 second :D (kernel: not found). @Stephen Drake: I've followed your suggestion. The network autoconfiguration appears after 10 minutes. I aborted the installation and shut the pc down 15 minutes later because the autoconfiguration wasn't still ready. [Bug 79662] Re: [feisty,alternate-cd x86] kernel, not found
This bug doesn't appear with the AMD64-Version of the livecd. Even Herd2 works here. So there must be something wrong. The amd64-alternate cd installs just fine, exept grub, which I had to install manually (only tried the cd from today). I found the following workaround for the x86 cd. You need to use the following kernel-parameter: hw-detect/start_pcmcia=false The CD works now, but there's another bug with the debian installer. After installing system packages, the installer complains: "No installable kernel found", and on tty: "base-installer: info: linux-image-generic not usable on 386" ? regards Dennis -- [feisty,alternate-cd x86] kernel, not found https://launchpad.net/bugs/79662 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
