[Bug 377897] Re: Power shutdown message in Ubuntu 9.04

2009-05-20 Thread ChrisMoraes
I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 in VirtualBox, and also get the same message
just before power down. It pauses on that message for a few seconds and
then shuts down cleanly.

[Bug 378653] [NEW] Update-manager flags packages from Ubuntu repos as "Non-Authorized"

2009-05-20 Thread ChrisMoraes
Public bug reported:

Scenario:
1. Update manager notifies the user that updates exist and asks the user
whether to install
2. The user chooses to install
3. Packages start to get downloaded, but the download stops due to network
issues, after some packages are downloaded.
4. The user chooses to cancel the download and clicks on "Cancel"
5. The system ask the user whether to continue with the installation of the
downloaded items or to Ignore them.
6. User chooses to Ignore them to cancel the operation completely so that the
update can be run again, afresh.

The next time the user chooses to install the updates, update-manager
warns that some software is not authorized and asks the users to confirm
that they want to proceed. I suspect this is caused because of the
earlier installation attempt that was aborted and some packages probably
do not have the associated keys.

Expected Behaviour: Update-manager should not raise a warning, as the
user is installing recommended updated through update-manager.

Note: No additional software source have been added. Update-manager is
running with the default software sources after a 9.04 installations.

** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 559028] Re: ubuntu-10.04-beta2-server-i386.iso (& desktop iso) does not run in VirtualBox

2010-04-19 Thread ChrisMoraes
This seems to be a problem with VirtualBox. I saw the problem when
testing with VirtualBox 3.0.8. I upgraded VirtualBox to version 3.1.6
(latest) and the problem goes away.

[Bug 482320] Re: Ubuntu One client: [Errno socket error] [Errno 0] _ssl.c:32...error:00000000:lib(0):func(0):reason(0)

2010-04-29 Thread ChrisMoraes
Hi,

I've also encountered a similar error. However, I know that this is
because my corporate firewall is blocking Ubuntu one. For e.g. when I
click on System > Preferences > Ubuntu One > Manage Accounts, the
browser opens up and displays the proxy page "You are not allowed access
to this site".

What I would like to request, however, is that this condition is trapped
and an appropriate error message shown. Currently the error message is
cryptic (for non-developers) and refers to a line of source code.

I've attached a screenshot for reference.

Thanks.

[Bug 575867] [NEW] Mouse focus flickers indefinitely between Indicator and Clock Applet

2010-05-05 Thread ChrisMoraes
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-applet

The steps to simulate this bugs are:

1. Start ubuntu 10.04 (desktop edition)
2. Left click on the Indicator-applet (either on the user name or the
Logout/Poweroff button)
3. The indicator-applet gets mouse focus (gets highlighted) and a menu will be
displayed under the indicator applet (depending on where you have clicked)
4. While the menu is still displayed, move the mouse over the clock applet.
5. Click on the clock applet and hold the mouse in that position (do not move)
6. The mouse focus keeps changing (flickering) from the indicator applet to the
calendar applets indefinitely.
7. When the mouse is moved away from the calendar applet, the flickering stops.

Expected behaviour: At #6 - when I click on the calendar applet, the
indicator-applet menu should close, the calendar applet should get focus
and the calendar should be displayed.

System details:
Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop Edition (updated with all patches as of 05-May-2010, 11:30
am ET)
Standard Install - no additional packages have been installed.
Ubuntu is running under VirtualBox 3.1.6
Indicator applet version 0.3.6

2010-04-16 Thread ChrisMoraes
I'm facing the same issue. I downloaded the ubuntu desktop 10.04 beta2

hangs after the initial boot prompt.

[Bug 376840] Re: Volume notification pops up and never go off using 100% cpu

2009-10-23 Thread ChrisMoraes
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 367049 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/367049

This does not seem to be a duplicate of the bug it is linked to.

I have observed this bug on Ubuntu 9.04 and Linux Mint 7, both running
in VirtualBox on a Win XP host.

This behaviour seems to be trigged randomly. Suddenly the volume
notification (from notify-OSD) pops up and takes 100% CPU. Teh keyboard
becomes unresponsive and nothing can be typed in. The mouse responds
and the UI can be clicked. The only solution that works is to log out
and log in again.
