[Bug 3984] Re: The size of grip is to smal to show the test of a option

2009-08-06 Thread Chris Rose
Wow, totally forgot about this. I did write a patch but I don't have it
any more.

Its not worth fixing it (again) if the package is being dropped.

[Bug 61394] 'folder-display|Inbox' name for Inbox with new mail

2006-09-20 Thread Chris Rose
Public bug reported:

2.8.0-0ubuntu2

Since upgrading to edgy any folders with unread email in are bold &
prefixed with 'folder-display|'.

E.g: 'folder-display|Ubuntu Art'

When there is no unread mail in the folder it is displayed correctly as
'Ubuntu Art'. This appears to affect only the tree view, no other area
of evo is affected.

[Bug 61394] Re: 'folder-display|Inbox' name for Inbox with new mail

2006-09-20 Thread Chris Rose
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 60047 ***

As documented in the upstream bug this is a translation issue with
en_GB.utf8 - and some others - Korean also. Seems to affect IMAP only.

It would be nice to get this fixed for edgy since its fairly trivial
instead of waiting for evo 2.8.1.

[Bug 57218] Re: Bad placing of the "copy" string while drag-copying files with a dot in their name

2006-09-20 Thread Chris Rose
Windows prefixes a copy as 'Copy of $original_name' which as you say
breaks ordering.

If nautilus used the first part of the file (split by '.') that has no
white space that would give sensible results.

my song feat. artist.tar.gz -> my song feat. artist (copy).tar.gz
my_file.tar.gz -> my_file (copy).tar.gz

In this case ' artist' and 'my song feat' are not part of the file
extension (both have whitespace), but 'tar' and 'gz' might be (no
whitespace), so the sensible place to put it is before the 'tar' part.

(copy) should be placed:

  * before the first part of the file name with no whitespace
  * at the end of the first part of the file name if no parts contain whitespace

[Bug 65049] Evolution hangs when marking a folder as read

2006-10-10 Thread Chris Rose
Public bug reported:

Evolution will hang when marking all mail in a folder as read
(sometimes). The GUI is unresponsive and dosen't redraw. CPU and disk
usage is normal. It seems to be more prone to folders with large mail in
it than others, but I have had it happen on folders with only text mail.

I have to kill evolution to close it. Reopening evo, the mail in the
folder will not be marked as read.

[Bug 65049] Re: Evolution hangs when marking a folder as read

2006-10-10 Thread Chris Rose
I can reproduce this now. If your looking at a folder and it says:

Refreshing folder (...)

in the status bar and you mark the same (not sure about others) folder
as read, it will hang.

I have a large volume of mail (~1gb) however I've waited ~30 minutes
before and its still hung. I don't remember it happening with evo on
Dapper.

[Bug 65167] Can't select a folder when adding an mh-format / maildir / mbox account

2006-10-10 Thread Chris Rose
Public bug reported:

The location option is a file chooser not a folder chooser, preventing
the selection of a valid folder.

There is a patch upstream, it would be good to get this in for edgy but
I realise its a little late in the cycle.

Maildir -> select directory

[Bug 65167] Re: Can't select a folder when adding an mh-format / maildir / mbox account

2006-10-11 Thread Chris Rose
This isn't just an evo bug. The problem is that camel tells evo that it
needs only a path, it dosen't specify that it specifically wants a file
or a folder. I'm not sure if thats an oversight or if its deliberate.

Quickfix would be to replace the folder chooser with a text box, proper
fix is to patch camel aswell.

[Bug 65566] Adding image as type 'automatically detected' fails

2006-10-11 Thread Chris Rose
Public bug reported:

Adding the attached image to a new document by:

1. New document
2. Insert -> picture -> select file
3. Ensure type is set to automatically detected

Image wont add, saying:

'Error importing file /home/chris/Desktop/PUMA/1.jpg.'

If you change type to jpeg, the file will import without problem.

[Bug 65580] Re: Default browser not respected

2006-10-12 Thread Chris Rose
The patch 09_browser.dpatch applied to the xchat source changes xchat to
use sensible-browser instead of gnome-open.

I'm guessing this is so its not dependant on gnome-open, which is
resonable. The problem is that sensible-browser prefers the system
default browser to the users preference.

The attached patch changes the behaviour to try xdg-open first, then
deskop preferred browsers with gnome-open or kfmclient before resorting
to sensible-browser.

In an ideal world we would just rely on xdg-open but until xdg-utils is
installed by default thats not possible.

This also allows xchat to choose a sensible default for protocols other
than http.

[Bug 65580] Re: Default browser not respected

2006-10-31 Thread Chris Rose
I left the original modifications in xchat.c as I wasn't sure what they
actually did -- I just altered the existing debian patch.

2 is indeed broken. I don't have a KDE install to test it with however.

xdg-open is part of the Portland project

http://portland.freedesktop.org/xdg-utils-1.0beta1/xdg-open.html

the idea being that it takes care of all this sort of thing so the
application dosen't have to worry about what the users preferred browser
is without being tied to a single desktop environments settings / API.
It would be a sensible inclusion upstream I think :)

[Bug 90666] Re: New DVD Burner not appearing.

2007-03-08 Thread Chris Rose
If you don't link the CD icon to the physical drive, it makes sense. The
icons you see are the CD's (hence the CD icon) and not the drive. If no
CD / DVDs are in the drives, you should see no CD icons in the
'Computer' folder.

If you are unsure about which CD a drive is in, right click the CD icon,
click 'Properties' then 'Drive' and it will show you the details of the
drive.

Does that clear things up?

[Bug 90656] Re: rhythmbox writes unreadable id3tags

2007-03-08 Thread Chris Rose
Thank you for your report. I am closing this bug because it is not
actually a bug. Rhythmbox (well, GStreamer) writes id3v2.4 tags which
EasyTag / BMP can not read properly. EasyTag uses id3lib which is broken
and unmaintained. It has only support for id3v2.3. Unfortunatly the
author does not seem to want to port it to use taglib which is a
maintained tag library.

I would recommend not writing tags with Rhythmbox if you need to edit
them with EasyTag (or any other id3lib tool) or to use Quod Libet to
edit your tags which is quite a nice tag editor.

[Bug 88801] Re: Web cam dosn't work

2007-03-08 Thread Chris Rose
Hm, OK. Seems I've sent you on a bit of a wild goose chase, sorry. On
closer inspection the spca5xx driver seems to be depreciated. As in the
error log it fails to build with recent kernels because config.h was
removed. Because of that, it has been removed from Ubuntu kernels and
replaced by gspca which is a replacement for the spca5xx driver.

The gspca driver seems to support your webcam though. If you can please
perform the following steps after a reboot:

lsmod | grep gspca

Do you see gspca in the output? If so, the driver is detecting your
webcam and should be working properly. You can use the tool v4l-info (in
package: v4l-conf) to dump information about the video devices on your
system, including the device node (which is usually /dev/video or
/dev/video0). You'll need to configure the app you are using to use that
device.

If you do not see gspca in the output:

sudo modprobe gspca

And please attach the output of dmesg.
