hi, original reporter here: my X is pulling the intel driver via auto config (no xorg.conf). The crash happened once and I haven't seen it again in a days use. The only thing I was doing at the time was browsing with firefox 3.0. I can't narrow down any particular action beyond that. Hi. original reporter here: The issue seemed to be caused from the upload of consolekit 0.2.10-0ubuntu3. My symptoms disappeared with consolekit 0.2.10-0ubuntu4. I commented out the Dapper sources and the issue went away. This originally happened sometime late in the gutsy development cycle. Maybe an upload to Dapper caused it? I don't understand how that trumps newer sources. This box is pure Gutsy. I have a laptop that grabs Dapper, Gutsy and Hardy sources and it exhibits the same behavior. I'm getting the same gdm issue in i386. its not a 64 bit specific issue. I'm also not using any PPAs: just straight up karmic and a few medibuntu packages.
