[Bug 118934] Latest kernel 2.6.20-16.28 starts very very very slow and thus hangs. 2.6.20-15 works perfectly.

2007-06-06 Thread Carlo Pires
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-generic

After upgrade to latest kernel (linux-image-generic 2.6.20-16.28.1) my
system started very very very slow and on detecting hardware it stops.
If I reset and try to boot again with 2.6.20-15 everything works fine.
So I decide to uninstall 2.6.20-16.28 and stay with 2.6.20-15.

If is there any step to do to get more information for you, please let
me know.

[Bug 560011] Re: Time cannot be fixed with ntpdate

2010-04-10 Thread Carlo Pires
I discovered this happens because I'm joined (using likewise) with a
windows 2003 AD, which is a virtual machine. Due to security policies,
when I'm joined I can't fix the time. What is strange is that as a
virtual machine, my windows2003 would get the time from linuxserver :/

[Bug 1252266] Re: Corrupted low memory after resume from suspend after updating to saucy

2014-01-08 Thread Carlo Pires
This kernel (v3.13.0-031300rc7-generic) worked for me (Ubuntu 13.10 + mb
Gigabyte P35-DQ6). The system now suspends and resumes perfectly. Memory
corruption is gone. Thanks!!!

[Bug 1252266] Re: Corrupted low memory after resume from suspend after updating to saucy

2014-01-08 Thread Carlo Pires
Oops, my bad. After some time (about 5 minutes) from resume. I got this
message in dmesg:

[ 420.828062] Corrupted low memory at 8800e3f8 (e3f8 phys) =
4000

But I'm not sure if it is related to same problem.

I just confirmed that this kernel (v3.13.0-031300rc7-generic) does not
solve the problem. Same error as before.

Re: [Bug 746160] Re: evince do not have print button on natty

2011-03-31 Thread Carlo Pires
Well, my wife and some students were not smart enough to add the print
button to the tool bar. First action of them wast to complain about that,
and install adobe reader to print. Remember we're making a big change on
interface design with natty and better user experience is a big motivator.

Re: [Bug 746160] Re: evince do not have print button on natty

2011-03-31 Thread Carlo Pires
Of course, if the menu bar was in the app dialog would be natural for
someone used to work on Lucid to find the print option. That is the point
here. Unity has an interface that focuses buttons/icons instead of menus. In
Unity should be natural to have a print button on tool bar.

Re: [Bug 746933] Re: unity/compiz crashes when resizing a window with middle button of mouse

2011-04-06 Thread Carlo Pires
Try to follow the steps bellow:

   1. open a window (a terminal, for instance)
   2. position the mouse in center of the window
   3. press CTRL + middle mouse button
   4. move the mouse with CTRL + middle mouse button pressed to resize the
   window
   5. unity/compiz crashes

PS: I did an apt-get update/upgrade and now it happens in an intermitent way

OBS: If I position the mouse near window sides resize works fine. That's why
I told I must be very cautious.

I started apport with

   sudo service apport start force_start=1

But after an apt-get upgrade cups stopped to crash, since yesterday. I
think this bug is related to a prior version of cups (or libcups).

[Bug 597248] [NEW] CUPS stops working if shares name with space is in /etc/samba/smb.conf

2010-06-22 Thread Carlo Pires
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cups

If I have a share with space in /etc/samba/smb.conf, like:

[My Documents]
comment = My documents in Linux
path = "/home/carlo/Documents"
valid users = carlo
browseable = No
writeable = Yes

Then, cups does not starts automatically anymore. Every time I access
the printing system, cups stops and reports me that print server is not
connected. After some checks I found out cups is stopped. If I start it
by line command (service cups start) it works again, until someone
access the printing system again.

[Bug 597248] Re: CUPS stops working if shares name with space is in /etc/samba/smb.conf

2010-06-22 Thread Carlo Pires
I found out this is related with share names length (more than 12
characters) and not with space in names.

** Summary changed:

- CUPS stops working if shares name with space is in /etc/samba/smb.conf
+ CUPS stops working if share names with more than 12 chars is in
/etc/samba/smb.conf

I think this have nothing about names in share. It's a problem with cups
with libcups.so I could track yet.
