Re: [Bug 303243] Re: Aspire 1680 doesn't shutdown

2008-11-29 Thread Borja
I boot my computer with usplash disabled (removing "splash" and "quiet" of
the kernel line). After logging in, it doesn't load my desktop icons, panels
etc... and I also can't do anything. Sometimes with kernel 2.6.27-9 and
kernel 2.6.25-2 after logging in, ubuntu hangs up.

[Bug 177187] Re: [Upstream] [hardy] OpenOffice Calc Chart Legend will not resize

2008-11-13 Thread Borja Gonzalez
I am using Ubuntu Hardy Heron and Open Office 2.4.1 (openoffice.org-core
1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2) and experiecing the above described issue. The leyend cannot
be resized, if you try to do so It will only move. No way to modify the size of
the leyend. Also, It doesn's even adapt to the text size and some text is cut
into two lines.
I do not quite well how launchpad works, I understood, by the former lines of
Chris Cheney, this would be treated on the version 2.4.0. Am I right?
Thanks

[Bug 576278] Re: Epson Stylus T10 gets detected and installed in Lucid but won't print

2010-05-13 Thread Danilo Borja Jr.
sad to say, epson t10 printer does not work anymore even on the final
ubuntu 10.04 lucid lynx release. You can install the driver (epson Txx)
successfully and even send a print test page command, but no response
from the printer (Epson T10 previously worked in Karmic using the T20
driver). BTW, the very limited driver from "AVASYS" is not a good
option.

I found out that the problem is due to regressions from the following packages:
cups-driver-gutenprint v5.2.5
libgutenprint2 v5.2.5

solution:
downgrade both packages to v5.2.4

[Bug 926612] Re: Gray background on icons in Adwaita theme

Forgot to say I'm using Precise, seems like it's not shown in the bug
report.

[Bug 926346] Re: The transparency around the Gnome menu icons is wrong after the latest update

2012-02-04 Thread Arnel A. Borja
This seems to be a bug in gnome-themes-standard, rather that gtk+3.0. I
tested 5 themes: Adwaita, Ambiance, Radiance, High Contrast and High
Contrast Inverse. In the three themes from gnome-themes-standard
(Adwaita, High Contrast and High Contrast Inverse), the transparency is
wrong. In the two themes from light-themes (Ambiance and Radiance),
transparency is correct. See attached image.

[Bug 926346] Re: The transparency around the Gnome menu icons is wrong after the latest update

2012-02-04 Thread Arnel A. Borja
The GNOME Icon Theme is not in the gnome-themes-standard package, it is
in the gnome-icon-theme package. The gnome-themes-standard package
contains the GTK+, Cursor and Metacity themes.

I believe that this bug is caused by recent changes to GTK+; in the last
3 unstable releases of GTK+, there are numerous changes in how GTK+
Themes interact with the GTK+ and GLib libraries, one of them being
GResource. So, this bug will be 'fixed', _if I'm correct_, if the themes
with the problem will be updated to use the new additions and changes to
the GTK+ and GLib libraries.

This doesn't seem to be a problem with icon themes, since changing icon
themes doesn't do anything (see attachments in comment #5 and #7; in #5
the GNOME and Ubuntu Mono Dark icon themes are tested, in #7 the Faience
icon theme is tested).

I will try to compile GTK+ from Git and use the older GTK+ releases to
see if the problem is still there.

[Bug 926346] Re: The transparency around the Gnome menu icons is wrong after the latest update

2012-02-04 Thread Arnel A. Borja
I might have already found the culprit: gdk-pixbuf!

Compiling GTK+ from Git produces the following error:
---
make[4]: Entering directory `/home/kyoushuu/Devel/Compiled-Git/gtk+/gtk'
  CCLD gtk-query-immodules-3.0
./.libs/libgtk-3.so: undefined reference to `gdk_pixbuf_new_from_resource'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[4]: *** [gtk-query-immodules-3.0] Error 1
make[4]: Leaving directory `/home/kyoushuu/Devel/Compiled-Git/gtk+/gtk'
---
This means that `gdk_pixbuf_new_from_resource' is not in the gdk-pixbuf library.

It is used here:
---
kyoushuu@kyoushuu-netbook-precise:/oneiric-home/kyoushuu/Devel/Git/gtk+$ grep
-r gdk_pixbuf_new_from_resource *
gtk/gtkcssimageurl.c: gdk_pixbuf_new_from_resource, which in turn has some
special casing
gtk/gtkcssimageurl.c: pixbuf = gdk_pixbuf_new_from_resource
(resource_path, &error);
---
It says GtkCssImageUrl, which is used to parse CSS in themes.

The said function is introduced in GDK-Pixbuf 2.25.2:

[Bug 926346] Re: The transparency around the Gnome menu icons is wrong after the latest update

2012-02-04 Thread Arnel A. Borja
I tried compiling gdk-pixbuf but there's no difference :/ (though it
would be nice if 2.25.2 will be included in the archives).

I also tried installing older GTK+ and GLib (the versions before:
3.3.10-0ubuntu3 and 2.31.12-0ubuntu1, they are very dependent according
to the GTK+ Mailing List). The bug is not there.

So my guess is back to the connection between GTK+ and GTK+ Themes.

Seems like this bug actually affects Ambiance, though not much
noticable.

See attachment (I used 11.10 for comparison instead of downgrading GTK+
because it's quite a hassle to do it, but they do look similar before
the last GTK+ upgrade in 12.04).

During the upgrade process, some warnings and errors are displayed,

Besides, an message of an "network error" (despite I already have an
