[Bug 292142] [NEW] DMA and UDMA issues with intrepid

2008-11-01 Thread Baron Flopsy, the Candy king
Public bug reported:

DMA is disabled on Intrepid

Managed to turn it on using the following...

edit /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and add to the end of this file

Then, update the initramfs

sudo update-initramfs -u

Then reseting machine

But now the UDMA is set wrong...

sudo dmesg | grep ata

[Bug 349969] Re: [DIXONSXP DIXONSXP] suspend/resume failure

2009-03-31 Thread Baron Flopsy, the Candy king
Followed the process laid out at...
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume

Attempted both
pm-suspend and
pm-hibernate
from VT1 after including no_console_suspend option during boot

pm-suspend :-
Generated no text output and the screen stayed powered on
Had to hard reset to get the machine back
Apport generated no failure reports

pm-hibernate :-
Generated no text output and the screen stayed powered on with a blinking
courser in the top left
Had to hard reset to get the machine back
Apport generated no failure reports

[Bug 470683] Re: ATAPI DMA disabled for reliablity issues (Karmic)

2009-11-02 Thread Baron Flopsy, the Candy king
I can edit Grub2 during boot and add...
pata_ali.atapi_dma=1 after nosplash to get it to work but I have to do this
every boot...
No idea how to make it permanent?! :(

If not standing out... This bug is for the Samsung N150
WiFi is intermittent and hardly ever works!
A little googling shows this is a common problem.
